AGS Games in Production / Re: LAPD

[offtopic]

I think Police Quest was an aquired taste ... I liked the first one, but couldn't get into any of the others.Ã,  They were a little too technical for my taste.

[/offtopic]

I don't really mind the 'empty' graphics.Ã,  What bugs me is that some aren't so empty, while others are.Ã,  In my opinion, consistency is the key to backgrounds.Ã,  If you're going to make one screen so devoid of details, make them all that way.Ã,  Otherwise the game lacks a cohesive style.

I hope the badguy, "DM" is revealed to be Darth Mandarb!!!Ã,  I kid ;)

Do you have any friends/family/colleagues that are on the job?Ã,  It might lend itself to a little more realistic portrayal of police work.Ã,  Although I wouldn't recommend overdoing the technical stuff ... as I mentioned about PQ it was a little too tedious for my taste.

Good luck on finishing the game.

Yeah?  Okay then ... I present you Santa Claus (from AGA's message) in Le Chuck (monkey Island) style!

From the Forum Rules:

2) A minimum of two (in-game) screenshots must be available.
If you aren't far enough to be able to take different screenshots, don't post yet!Ã,  We know some of you don't want to show too much of the game, but two screenies isn't too much to ask!

--

The game looks pretty promising.Ã,  The plot isn't anything too original, but also isn't too cliché.

Please post a second screenshot.

Good luck finishing the game.

DAMMIT!

I made this one up and THEN realized it was supposed to be a character from an AGS game ... not just and adventure game.Ã,  Oh well ... not an entry then, but I'd thought I'd share anyway:

I went a different direction with 'style' ... rather than a different art style, I went with a different fashion style.  Guess it doesn't matter since it's not an AGS character.

Babar

go into: Edit > Preferences > General

You'll see a setting called "Image Interpolation" which is most likely set to "Bicubic (better)"

Change this to "Nearest Neighbor" and it won't anti-alias on resize.

However, the results aren't always that great and usually require a little touch up after resize.Ã,  But it'll work.

I know when I'm thinking of potential gifts for a friend's birthday the first thing that pops in my head is, "Hey ... I should get him a tarpauline!!"

Happy Birthday!

Jeeze guys ... give the man a break! :)

Self anti-aliasing is possible!

When I first saw Qui Gon and Yoda I too assumed they were photos ... take that as a compliment!

I remember YEARS ago using M$Paint to recreat the cover of "The Eye of the World" book 1 of the wheel of time. Ã, I sure do wish I could find that file ... I know I have it somewhere. Ã, I also did the cover of "Fire Sea" (book 3 of the Death's Gate cycle)

I ramble ... good work man. Ã, They look pretty damn good for a pixel by pixel method!

VIOLENCE IN SPORTS

I think a little violence is to be expected in sports personally.

Take Hockey and American Football for example.Ã,  You're supposed to hit people (check/tackle).

Sometimes, yes, it goes too far.Ã,  The incident with the Detroit Pistons v. The Pacers is a good example.Ã,  That rivalry had been building for years and this was just the top of the volcano finally erupting.Ã,  Artest got what he deserved in my opinion.Ã,  However, having said that, I'm sure the league is happy the incident happened because the next couple of Pacer's and Piston's games will have HUGE ticket sales.

The Detroit Redwings v. the Chicago Blackhawks used to be the big rivalry in the D and there were ALWAYS fights.Ã,  It was expected and highly cheered for.

It goes back to my theory about mankind's attitude toward violence/war in general.Ã,  We simply aren't that far removed from the days of the Collesium and Gladiator where we enjoy some blood letting.Ã,  I'm speaking of mankind in general as, obviously, there are those who abhore this kind of sport.Ã,  But also, obviously, it has mass appeal or it wouldn't be flourishing like it is.

RACISM

As for racism ... well that's a whole other can of worms.Ã,  I don't know the guy personally (meaning he might be a raging racist for all I know) but calling the player the "shitty black guy" isn't racist in my opinion.Ã,  Seems more like intimidation to me.Ã,  Now if he'd said, "tell that shitty nigger you're better than him!" maybe.

Is racism implied simply because he pointed out that the guy was black?Ã,  I'm sure the guy knows he's black.Ã,  Had it been a black coach and he'd shouted, "tell that shitty white boy you're better than him" NOBODY would have a problem with it.

Of course, as I said, the guy might be a known (admitted) racist, I'm just making a point of my opinion.

The theory I've always accepted is that racism will always exist because racism = ignorance, and ignorance is a hard thing to get rid of.

FAN PUNISHMENT

As for the closing of stadiums because of the fans ... this does seem kind of stupid to me.Ã,  But I'm sure they feel it's the only way to send the message that this behaviour won't be tolerated.

But you're definately right that one team's fans could sabotage another team's field intentionally.Ã,  Are these games televised?Ã,  Do the games still go on (just without the fans) if the field is closed?Ã,  Do they play at another venue?

They close the field for 10 matches if somebody throws a coin on the field?Ã,  Now THAT seems a bit extreme to me but I suppose if ALL the fans did it that could be quite dangerous.

I was at a baseball game once (Detroit Tigers) and the fans in the bleachers were throwing beer bottles at the outfielders of the opposing team.Ã,  It got so bad that the players wouldn't come into the outfield ... they stayed all the way in by the diamond.Ã,  There must have been 50 people thrown out and quite a few were arrested.Ã,  There were probably 20 fights ... it was mayhem.Ã,  But they didn't close the ballpark.Ã,  They just, from the point on, didn't allow glass bottles in the park.

Also, if you press the brush tool (in the tool bar) and hold the button down you can select the pencil tool as well.Ã,  Then you might have to adjust brush size.

If you're using the latest version of photoshop your tools options will be on the top bar and you can edit them there.

All my pixel art has been done in photoshop.

Yay!

I'm glad you're back.

What did you miss ... the forums went down for a few days and are now on a completely different web address.  Does that count?

General Discussion / Re: THEY CUT MY HAIR
Fri 19/11/2004 21:01:05
That's the interesting thing about hair ... it keeps growing.

So as long as you're able to grow it back (ie you aren't balding) you're in luck!

I used to keep my hair really long.Ã,  My grandfather used to call me a hippy and always asked when the 'lady was going to cut her hair!"Ã,  It was great fun!

Then I just got sick of it.Ã,  Now I keep very close cropped at all times.Ã,  I much prefer it that way.

Just out of curiosity, who are 'they' that cut your hair?Ã,  Couldn't you have stopped them.Ã,  Was it a 'haircut raping"?

A highly modified version of my avatar ...

I was going to be a smart-ass and just post my avatar ... but he hardly looks 'grizzled'.
#3974
I remember that second screenshot!!  Good to see it being used in a game!

Did you post the character in the CL before?  It looks familiar as well.

I like the look of this, good luck and I hope you can finish it!

What do I think?

I think A) That this game isn't IN PRODUCTION since you said:
Quote from: Fawfulhasfury on Sun 14/11/2004 21:59:37I plan to make a Mario fangame called Paper Mario: The KattaLegend of the Light and of the Darkness.

B) The screenshot isn't actually a screenshot

C) You didn't read the forum rules.

Quote from: Dave Gilbert on Fri 12/11/2004 14:37:01Here's a real pic of New York City at 9pm. :)

But Dave it's not New York in that picture, it's Ney york ;)

The lights in some of the buildings look too patterned and not random enough.

Also, as mentioned, there's no depth.Ã,  Just one row.Ã,  Try adding some buildings behind.

Maybe add some signs, traffic lights, cars, roads, power lines, antennas, etc.

Quote from: sedriss on Wed 10/11/2004 14:08:19Are you sure that was a blackjack table? It looks more like a Texas Hold 'em Poker table.
I'm not sure what kind of table it was ... but I was playing black jack on it. :)

It was just for show ... no money involved.

I tricked Sara into thinking I had actually played black jack with Ben Affleck.Ã,  I told her that I had just sat down at the tables with him.Ã,  She thought it was sooooo cool.Ã,  She asked what he was like to which I replied, "He's quieter than you'd think ... didn't have much to say"

She couldn't tell from the pix that it wasn't really him.  She totally fell for it.

The entire English language (at least in the States) is slowly but surely being butchered.

Some of my favorite words include (but are not limited to):

Adalpated
Boolean
Hypothesis
Latitudinal
Strumpet

if there are any comments on my spelling please direct them to the brick wall over there ->
