Yeah, convert them to mp3 or ogg.

We finally know why LucasArts didn't want Bobbin's face revealed ...

This also answers the question:Ã,  If there was ever a 'Special Edition' of Loom, what could LucasArts do to completely ruin it?

Quote from: Dark-of-Night on Tue 17/08/2004 01:10:41but wouldn't that make him only 4 years old if he turns 32 on 8-16-32.Ã,  2032 is 28 years away. He will be 44 in the year 2032.
Well ... the 32 (in 8-16-32) I meant would be his age, not the year.Ã,  But you're right also :)Ã,  Perhaps I should have written it 8/16 - 32 or something.Ã,  (this would be in the year 2020)

I should point out that the director of Rebel Without a Cause, Nicholas Ray, researched the movie by riding around with several LA gangs, so it's not exactly feeding off a stereotype of how people envision them. Also, the film used one or two real gang members to teach other James Dean how to street fight. If anything, RWAC is a more accurate movie than most.
Hmmm ... I must be thinking of another movie??Ã,  My knowledge of movies doesn't go back much further than the 70's unfortunately.Ã,  I'll dig for the movie I'm thinking of.

And yes ... Nazi's are evil!!

Try adding some shading/shadows ... it works wonders to an image.

I think the biggest problem I have is the repeating nature of it all.Ã,  The flowers all look the same (which I could probably ignore) but all the trees look identical which jumps right out at me.Ã,  Even graphically beautiful games in this style (Zelda: A Link to the Past) have identical trees and it drives me nuts!!Ã,  Try adding some variation ...

Also, this is just some advice, it looks as if you quickly free-hand drew the shape of the fountain.Ã,  Try using a circle-type tool (or even doing it by hand) to get a symetrical look.Ã,  If you want to add cracks and stuff later that's fine, but the overall shape should be smoother I think.

I never gave much thought to why Link has the pointy ears ... interesting.

I think the background looks pretty cool (scanned?), and the character sprite is pretty good too.  However, I'm not sure they go well together.  The styles are different and rather clash ... Maybe do a trace over the background image.  It looks like a scan anyway so could probably use a touch up.

Now this is how a Game in Production should be announced!

A fantastic looking game!

I like the background detail, it really gives the game/story some depth.

The characters seem interesting (maybe 'cause I'm a twin?!) and well developed.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished!Ã,  So keep on 'sprucing'!!

Meph - since you were born the year Terminator 2 came out (which really started the whole CGI craze)... I think perhaps you don't appreciate the Terminator's special effects :)

That scene was really quite something back when the movie came out. Ã, Before computers were used extensively in movies, Stop Motion was all the rage!

Also, if you need help with your game you should post in the ACR - need help with a game thread.

Ahhh ... I see it now.Ã,  They do look like peaks further below.Ã,  I agree that making them faded greys would make it clearer!

I've got to say that if you're just getting started with graphics and this is what you come up with ... I drool in anticipation to see your future work!

Most excellent!

Hackers sucked.Ã,  I just didn't like it at all.

Hollywood can, every now and then, get something right.Ã,  But this is a prime example of them getting it sooooo very wrong.

I knew/know a lot of people who were/are hackers ... and they're NOTHING like that.

I think it's like Rebel without a Cause how they made the motorcycle gangs appear ... totally feeding off of a stereo type of how the masses envision those people.

Most of the hackers I knew were usually slobby, unshaven, and slightly over weight guys who stayed up all night drinking Jolt cola trying desperately to break into a local bank's computer network (and usually failing).Ã,  If these same guys ever met somebody who looked like Angelina Jolie they would have squeaked and run away gripping their crotches!!

Quote from: Blackthorne519 on Mon 16/08/2004 16:11:56School...... wow.Ã,  In a year and half, it will have been 10 years since I graduated High School.Ã,  I know there's a few folks here that are in similar boats.Ã,  Man, time passes quick.
I just got an eMail last week for my 10th highschool reunion.Ã,  I'm not going.

It's funny 'cause it actually feels like it was a LOT longer than 10 years ago.

I barely remember highschool.  Though I think that's mostly because I was usually drunk and/or high ... but that's another story.  (I was a messed up teenager).

I really like this!Ã,  I think it's off to a great start.

    My observations:
[li]The wings need some more details (add feather lines, etc.)[/li]
[li]The ear needs cleaned up a little (smudges out of the lines)[/li]
[li]Needs a little more shading (the tail, the armour, the hair)[/li]
[li]Some of the fur areas could use a little more contrast (as mentioned by Arboris)[/li][/list]

Of course, if you're finished it's still quite excellent.Ã,  These are only refinements I would suggest to make it even more detailed.

    Great job!

That is really nice work Oz!

You pixelated those gradients by hand?Ã,  You've got patience my friend :)

One thing that concerns me is the ground area in front of the buildings.Ã,  It's the same color(s) as the sky.Ã,  It definately adds to the bleakness, but it confuses me a little.Ã,  My first thought was it was water and was reflecting the sky, but there's no reflections of the buildings.

Perhaps it should be more of a brown-ish color like this:

    Just a thought.

Also (and I'm just being picky here) the forground rocks appear to be casting shadows into the picture ... with the sun where it is, wouldn't those shadows be going the other way, thus not visible in this picture?Ã,  As I said, just being picky.

All-in-all, bang up job!Ã,  Excellent work.

August 16th (it's not quite there yet here in South Florida) is my 1/2 birthday!!

Happy 16th Birthday on the 16th of August!!

Rejoice, it'll never happen again :)

    Although, when you're 32, it'll be 8-16-32 ... which'll be cool.

    That's so frickin' obvious!!

    Thanks Proskrito.

I think comments, critiques, and critisisms are fine in the GiP if they are about game mechanics, GUI functionality, bugs, errors, fixes, etc.

Comments about the artwork, animations, and sounds aren't really appropriate.Ã,  If the game-maker wants C&C about that stuff they should post in the CL.

I've kind of been wondering about something else lately ...

We've been getting (ocassionally) a post in the GiP about little demos.Ã,  Not necessarily something that'll be made into a game.Ã,  I think those don't belong in the GiP either.Ã,  For instance, I recently moved SilverWizard's battle system into the CL because it's not really a game in production ... just something he wanted people to check out.Ã,  Seemed (to me) more appropriate in the CL than the GiP.

Does that make sense to people?

    Totally dig it!

I like the color coordination of the boots and the jacket.Ã,  Just 'cause you're a street fighter doesn't mean you can't color coordinate your outfits!!

    I can't really find anything that I don't like, it's quite nice.

If I had to be a nit-picky fool ... perhaps that one tiny pixel sticking out of his boot in the more open stance (his left boot).Ã,  But it's nothing really ... it's about the only thing that caught my eye.

Great job and make an AGS game soon! ;)

I think it's under control now.

With Snake back, and AGA helping out too, I think it'll be fine just being more strict on the current rules.

I don't really see the point of going through older posts and locking them up.

If they get dug up from the past (and don't meet current rules) we should lock them.Ã,  Because most of those are "Hey, hows this game coming along?" and in most cases (I would guess) they're abandoned games anyway.
