Please, don't triple post ... use the modify button.Ã,  It's what it's there for! (scummyb edited your posts, wizard)

I haven't used shakescreen in a long time (since I was first experimenting with AGS) but isn't it blocking?

I'm assuming that's an 'in-game' screen, and there's supposed to be an object on that desk structure?

Allow me to introduce you to my friend punctuation.

With this guy as your friend, your posts will make sense!

Now about your question:
You're joking right?
#4344
He wants help coloring in this picture.Ã,  He already made this attempt, but is unhappy with it.

He originally asked in the GiP thread for his game, but I pointed him to this board.Ã,  I'm assuming he just forgot to post the link(s).

This isn't the place for that kind of request.

Ask in the Critics Lounge and you'll get a FAR better response.

My vote goes to Lightman.

You didn't happen to notice the sticky thread that says "Post your suggestions for worthwhile servers to upload demos to here"?

I'm guessing you might find what you're looking for in there??

QuoteBut hopefully it'll be good hip-hop like Geraldo and Vanilla Ice.

Does... not... compute...
Sorry ... I meant GeraRdo ... you know, the Rico Suave moron from years ago?

I saw the HBO First Look at this movie.Ã,  I think I'll go see it for sure now.Ã,  Just to see it.Ã,  I played the first AVP game years ago on the Atari Jaguar (which most probably don't remember) and started thinking then how cool of a movie it would make.

Here's hoping!

This should cover just about everything you need:I put the link for the demo hosting in there 'cause if the screenshots don't help, you might need to upload a demo of the problem so somebody can see what's going on.  I'm sure it's something simple ... but we'll figure it out.

Or just look at (probably) every page going back in time in this forum.

This question is asked about once a week!!

Also, before asking anymore questions you might want to consult with the Beginners FAQ.Ã,  It's a fantastic resource and will usually answer any "novice" questions you have rather than getting a smart-ass answer from people like me :)

Also, this thread; *** READ THIS THREAD FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! (updated 07.11.2004)*** has loads of information you should read before posting a question.

Just FYI.

Yes, the screenshots do look great!

I did see that you said, "sorry for the broken links" So I knew you had tried at least.  Thanks either way.

Keep up the effort!

That IS indeed interesting ... we must be missing something obvious here.

I suppose you could try adding a 'Run Script' in the 'Before Fadein' part and turn the objects on manually ... see if that works?

ObjectOn(0);
ObjectOn(1);

etc.

Barring that, would it be possible for you to post a screenshot of the editor (showing the objects) and the room (in game) where they're missing?

D'oh!

Welcome back!

It's refreshing to hear a non-American actually have something good to say about the place!

In a little funny side-note.  I've actually been to Naperville.  I have a friend who lives there.  Well, actually she lives in Lysle, but we went into Naperville a lot (I have a World's Gym T-shirt from the Worlds Gym I worked out in while I was there!)

Glad you had fun!

Oh ... and against my better judgement, I actually like Arbys ** dm ducks!! **

General Discussion / Re: Play your own games?
Mon 09/08/2004 16:22:28
Well ... I think that if the game is very linear (which a lot of adventure games are) and you've spent countless hours working and testing it, the replay value just isn't there.  I tested JP&Cosmo relentlessly!  I even tried to imagine I didn't know what to do ... but I've never actually just sat down and played it!

Now ... if you're creating a game that isn't linear and has many possiblities and differences each time you play it, I'm sure that could increase the chances of the developer wanting to replay it.

So ... you're RPG style game (which probably isn't the same everytime you play it) has much replay value because it's not always identical to the last time you played through.

Um ... yeah :)
#4356
Soo ... in the editor (AGS) the objects are showing up when you place them in the room.  But when you play/test the game, they aren't there?
#4357
Well ... resizing is bad!

In Photoshop (to make the resize not blurry):
You go into EDIT > Preferences > General
You'll see an option for Image Interpolation (probably set to Bicubic).Ã,  Select Nearest Neighbor instead.Ã,  This'll prevent it from blurring the image on resize.Ã,  However, it doesn't do nearly as good a job in keeping it looking like your original image.Ã,  It might save you some work on having to redraw the whole thing because you'll have a better idea of the shape and such.

Tip: Create the characters the size you're going to use them in-game!

dpi isn't important unless you're planning on printing the character!

To post pictures on the forums:
1) don't post it in here, use the Critics Lounge!!
2) [ img ] http://www.locationofimage.com [ /img ] (remove spaces of course)
3) for more help on board posting code go HERE

Wow!Ã,  Everybody is helping out today!

I definately think your edit 2 is the best of the three.

I made a radial (zoom) blur effect which seemed dream-like to me ...

Of course, with all of these suggestions (and your edit 2 image) walkbehinds would be a bitch!

As this thread has been opened for awhile, and seems to have generated some interest, I'm going to be nice!

But get some screenshots posted!! :)
It's all provided for you!Ã,  So help us out and give us a screenie or two!!

Just a question (purely out of ignorance) - do threads have to be locked? Can't they be deleted?
They can be deleted ... but I don't know if it's necessary.Ã,  If I don't delete them, and a little down the road the person wants to show that he's really working on the game, the thread can be re-opened and continued rather than having to start a whole new thread.

But, of course, this'll probably lead to duplicate threads as the person who's thread was locked won't read the line about reopening it when they have more to go on and will just start a new thread.

We'll see ...
