It is The Good Dinosaur!

Quote from: Snarky on Tue 07/06/2016 14:44:10Well that's just quibbling!
Well you, technically, didn't guess the movie's title!

I am, however, willing to grant you the victory since you did know the movie (if not the actual title).

I'll let you and Amayirot Akago work it out :P

What I was hoping to try here was to use something CG that is damn near photo-realistic to see if people could tell it was "fake". Apparently it's still obvious. I was blown away by the realism of the nature/scenery in The Good Dinosaur.  Mind blowing really.
(I also flipped the image horizontally and played with the levels a bit to throw off any cheaters using google images' "back trace" feature (nod))

Okay, enough chatter.

NEXT!

I'll explain after somebody guesses it (nod)

You know it's funny, I watched Redbelt like 6 or 7 years ago (huge fan of Chiwetel Ejiofor) but found it mostly forgettable.

My first thought was Nightcrawler and it took me a few days to make the connection.

Both had Robert Elswit as the cinematographer/DP.

He has a very unique style I guess.

I will post a new challenge ASAP!

Since nobody else seems to know this I will answer...

I believe that's from the movie Redbelt.

Nah let somebody else have it.

That is one of my favorite movies though. On a side note; if you pay attention to these things (as I tend to) it has some of the best editing and attention to detail I've ever seen in a movie. I managed to find only a handful of mistakes that are extremely nitpicky.

Any way carry on !

You bet!

I did a lot of 3D way back in the day (seriously, like 15-20 years ago) but then I went through my pixel-art phase.

I got back into 3D last year and I am in love w/ Blender. Compared to what I used all those years ago it's just amazing how far the technology has come (and somehow it's FREE!).

I am far from an expert yet but I'm happy to lend some advice if you get stuck w/ the interface (Cycles/Nodes are still a bit of a challenge for me but I'm getting it). That uDemy course will REALLY help!

I look forward to seeing your next game(s) in the GiP using Blender (nod)

So odd...

I haven't seen that movie yet but all those images made me think I knew what it was!

Now I'm curious what movie the director "borrowed" from that struct such a familiar chord (nod)

I'm trying to think "close" to The Game (w/ Michael Douglas) that came out in 2015...

Ant Man?

Blender is incredible!

The interface has a VERY steep learning curve but once you get comfortable with that you can really start experimenting and having fun with it.

There's a really kick-ass Blender Tutorial course on uDemy that I took (backed it on Kickstarter) that was a life-saver.

It starts off with the very basics and goes up to some pretty advanced stuff (character rigging, animation, particles, etc).

It's 40$ normally but if you wait a bit uDemy always has 10$ sales and it is usually a part of that sale.

Thanks for the update.

Good luck with the production!

Yeah... It's getting a little off topic in here!

For this type of discussion, if you're interested in such a discussion, open a thread in the Critics Lounge!

Now back to work (nod)
