I've been working on this for a few hours ...

Personally, I really like it.  However, as is usual, you guys can help me make it even better!

C&C please.

1337 ... I get it

[HOMER SIMPSON] doh!! [/HOMER SIMPSON]

What did I miss?
#5624

- I raised the back leg up a pixel on most frames (Aushor, MrColossal, and Oscar)
- I lightened up the back leg just a little ... (N3TGraph)
- I changed the right arm frames where the arm is back (Farlander and MrColossal)
- I increased the size of the front leg on a few frames (Aushor)

Aushor - I thought about adding in a little more motion (ear wobble) but I don't believe even their hats wobbled in the cartoon?  So I didn't want to go too far overboard with changes!  But it's a good idea and I might eventually do it!

Quintaros - Thanks!  Practice practice practice!!  I can almost completely do a walk-cycle now without looking at my reference chart!

Thanks everybody!  You've helped make this better and better!!

So ... as I usually do, I sat down to work on something.  It turned into something else completely.

I kind of dig it ... can anybody see anything to improve upon?

Hit me!

:: Front Animation ::
Synced up!  Looks good!  I (personally) would still add a forward movement to each leg but this works!  I hope you don't mind, but I did this really quickly just to show what I meant:

It's a little sloppy, but you'll see what I mean!  I made his legs move forward by just adding a little to the shoes and moving the pant legs.  I also took out the side to side skip and made him move up and down rather.  I also added a little more belly sway!

These were just suggestions but you're more than welcome to use it if you'd like!  Or completely disregard

:: Side Animation ::
Excellent!

The arm looks just a little wierd ... because the arm behind his body (the left one) becomes visible so it gives the illusion that he's moving that arm (the left one) forward more than the right one moves forward.

But it kind of makes it look like he's struttin' a little.

Which gives it some flavor!

I like it alot!

** I wasn't sure if I was supposed to call this over or not.  But since nobody else did (and the deadline was 2 days ago) I thought I would.  Please correct me if I'm wrong!!

By moving in opposite directions he means that when the left leg is forward, the right arm should be back and vice versa.  The way it is now it's not synced up like that!  (at least I think that's what he meant!!)  You have the arm forward with the same side leg!  Not a huge deal but should be easy enough to fix!

The Side Animation ...

Walking Animation

See if that helps you out any.  It helped me out in the past!

Thanks guys!

MrColossal I see what you're saying.  Perhaps in v2.0 I will add something to the screen to see if that fixes the issue and as MrMasse pointed out the screen needs to be lengthened anyway so that might help too!

PureGhost, thanks!  I don't know if I told you this yet, but I loved Astranded ... stellar work man!

Farlander, our future is bright my friend ;)

Thanks again!!

I know nothing about making music (I'm as musically talented as a fish!)

But I know music I like and I :: LOVE :: midi music!

This is good!  I have to say it also had a carnival sound to it to me as well!  Which is quite good ... creepy and dark-ish!

good job!

As long as it looks good in game (and you're happy with it) than I say go with it!

And don't worry about adding shading ... I was just curious if you were going to :)

I like the style too!

The arms look good!

The the shoulders/torso need to rise and fall with the steps.

The legs don't look like they're moving forward at all, it looks like he's bending at the knees and then just stomping his foot down.

Great start!

Will you be adding more shading as well?

Just to clarify ... I didn't care for Signs much either!  I just really like the 'feeling' of it.  Especially that scene I mentioned.

Quintaros - I am a huge fan of slasher pix and the new TCM is worth going to see.  Plus it has Jessica Biel in it ... My girlfriend was constantly jumping and even once squeeked!!  I was crackin' up!!

Squinky - Poltergeist ... the closet ... long arms ...

I don't know that I would classify the Ninth Gate as a horror film ... although I did really like it a lot.  Depp is one of the most under rated actors of all time (in my opinion) and Polanski (though a child molestor) is a good director.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (only the original)
Poltergeist (again, only the original)
The House of 1000 Corpses - one line, "Tiny fucked a stump!"
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (both versions really)

For me, a good horror movie isn't one that actually scares/startles me (because that's near impossible to do!)  It's more for how much it scares/creeps me out.

For example:  In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which I just saw last night) there was the scene where the guy was hangin' on the hook and he couldn't get off the hook, yet he was alive, awake, and aware of what was happening.  That is just scary/creepy ...

So by that rational there are other movies that people might not consider (technically) horror movies that I do.  Like The Silence of the Lambs and Signs.

That scene in Signs where he's by the daughter's bed and he looks out and sees the creature on the top of the barn!!  That gave me goosebumps for days after just thinking about it!

Any way ... that's my $0.02

cheers,

Minimi:

I'm an amateur historian ... so I know the origin of Halloween.  However, as with most things from the 'old world', we Americans adapted Halloween in the early colonial days to suit or 'new world' ways.

Now-a-days it simply is a day for our young-folk (and those of us young at heart) to get away with dressing up and acting silly and what's more?  We get candy!!

It's innocent and doesn't have the evil or satanic conotations that it used to.  At least for most of us ... there are those that celebrate All Hallow's Eve old school and dress in black and hold dark masses in the forest ... but hey, to each their own!

Rince & Remixor:

A Clockwork Orange was/is a groundbreaking triumph in movie making.  I remember the first time I watched it (before I really got into movies) I thought I was watching a porno ... it just is so off the wall and sexually charged.   But (as Rince said) enough about ACO!!

Trap
Alcohol ... always does the trick!!  (if you're of age of course!!)

Whenever I don't have a Halloween costume I tell people that I'm dressed up like my twin brother!  What a cop-out!!!

This is ... well ... sort of game related (you'll soon see what I mean).

I started in on something else and somehow came up with this ... so I thought I'd post it here and see what people thought.
