General Discussion / Re:Local bands?
Fri 03/10/2003 00:54:15
remix0r - I downloaded the Cheat's stuff ... it's pretty darn good.  I love the 'local band' sound.  I like when bands sound the way they want to sound rather than the way the record labels tell them to sound.

There is a band I love (in Michigan) called The Killer Flamingos.  They have some orginal stuff (they do have a CD out) but their live shows is mostly 80's covers.  I had a HUGE crush on Michelle (the lead singer).  Man can that chick sing!!  She's got a great voice!

Whirling Road (another Michigan band) was awesome.  But they broke up because the lead singer was a jerk that nobody could get along with.  I wish their site was still up 'cause these guys were awesome.  I've got two of their songs available for dl if you're at all interested:
Whirling Road - Whispering the Words
Whirling Road - Die

Abruzi Drive was also awesome but, like Whirling Road, couldn't get along and broke up.

I still listen to their music on a very regular basis!

Also, funny story, I travel alot and one time (I can't for the life of me remember where I was (I think Boston)) but I saw Jason M'raz  in some small venue.  Just look at him now.  I remember thinking (when I saw him) that he would make it someday.  Same with Nora Jones, and the band Live.

This game is gonna be cool.

And by cool, I mean TOTALLY SWEET!

I like the picture of Ben.  I tingle with anticipation for a demo (hint hint hint?!?!!?)

Keep it up Bernhard!

I feel pretty confident in my ability to create most parts of my games in AGS.

However, the one part that always worries me is the music.

I'm about as musically talented as a sponge.

Well, today I saw this on Call For Help (on TechTV) and it's just the coolest thing.

TOY Symphony

This is hard to describe, but it basically gives you the ability to 'draw' music.  Once you get the hang of how it works it's really cool.

For those who know music and have musical talent might find this entertaining though not really all that powerful.  But to those like me, who don't know 'a minor' from 'b flat' ... this is a pretty cool way to feel like a musician.

Just thought I'd share!

I was looking for this function as well!  I could move the character (or object) around the room but you could see it go from one spot to the next.  I want it to be like a transport where when you step on the platform you instantly move to another location (same screen!)

Is this what you're talking about too Kaaz?

Awesome first character La Lore!

I like it a lot!  Now if you really want to impress up ... animate it

As for what Tier said I think I have to agree ... cheerleading in high heels?  That could be dangerous!!

Great job!

Edit - If she's cheering for AGS I'm glad to be on the team!!!

I hope you don't mind ... but I really liked the starting to your bg and I thought I'd contribute.  There are a few things I updated and added to.

Here's the pic:
AGSFellow's Background

- Added some shading to the cabinet drawers
- Added perspective to the fish tank
- Changed the elevator
- Added some detail lines to the fridge
- Added a carpet divider between kitchen and lobby
- Added some shading to the walls/floor trim
- Added details to the microwave
- Updated Mr. Frisby's door
- Added some cord to the microwave cord that was already there

I guess I just got motivated to help!  Feel free to use any or all of it if you want!

EDIT - I think animating the fish tank is a great idea actually.  You don't have to have fish it it.  But bubbles and the plants moving around would really sell the scene I think!  BuffaloGamer - Most hotels don't have a floor numbered 13 (at least in America) did you know that??

This poor kid ...

Although I find all those hilarious I do truely feel bad for this kid.

If he's smart he'll take advantage of this publicity rather than let it wreck him!

He's definately got my vote for best Jedi of the year!

The 'style' of the carpet is good ... I just wouldn't use the white either.  But grey would be okay meesa tinks!

Also, the bedspread looks a little off-perspective.  Just ever so slightly as it goes 'up' it appears to get longer.  (it could be an optical illusion)

I'm just being nit-picky!

** This just in ... ***

In a report earlier this week it was stated that the AGS community was incredibly gullible and thick witted.  This was a mis-quote.  The actual quote was "The AGS community are incredbily gifted and thick gutted"

We're sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

This is Darth Mandarb reporting for AGS News.  Back to you CJ ...

Depends on who you ask.  I use Photoshop and can't imagine using anything else.  But from what I've heard PaintShopPro is just as good.  It's personal preference I guess.

I prefer Photoshop.

This looks ROCKIN!!!

Do you have any .gif animations of the characters animations?  I'd love to see some.

The BGs are really cool.  The GUI fits and the GUI options look great!

Keep it up and give us more :)

Well the votes are tallied, and the winner is ...
First Place:

Squinky's DareDevil.

Runner up this time was Minimi's Neo from the Matrix.

Ben - I LOVE that picture ... but you used it before ;)  I'm not sure if that's against the rules ? ? ?
Gus - I think you came in third!
Eggie - a good entry.  Not really sure what it is (haven't seen Information Retrieval) but it's ... interesting.

Good job to those that entered!

Now it's up to Squinky to make the next one a good one!!

cheers,
