Squinky - Use Hobbe's code in the HTML of the page.  So for instance:

< html >
< head >
< title > Title of Page < /title >
< /head >
< body bgcolor="EFEFEF" >

< hobbe's code >

< /body >
< /html >

Save the file as something like flashmovie.html (or .htm) or something like that.
If you link directly to a .swf it'll just ask you to DL it.  You have to use the object code (from Hobbes).

hope that helps!

Archangel - I'll get back to you on that a little later ... I'm enjoying some liberty fries right now :)  I'm just kidding.

That's a great analogy.

The only thing I can say in response is that we (the people watching in the stands) can't really do anything to stop the player from doing something 'stupid' like that.  So I guess we just sit back and watch it happen and voice our opinions in forums on the internet :)

cheers,

Oh boy ... here we go again!!   :)

The UN did fail.  I didn't say they disappeared.  If a football team loses (fails) they're still a team and move forward.

I think it's a smart thing to get the UN involved now. Of course the rest of the world will see it as 'crawling back' ... it's typical.

It's still pathetic that France didn't help out.

Also, as I stated in another thread, I was against all the 'freedom fries' and boycott on French products ... but of course that didn't get quoted :)  And I believe it was 'liberty fries'???

And DGM - It's Darth MANDARB ... not Mandrub :)  I hope that wasn't intentional.

I'm using an isometric perspective in my game.  I really like the way it 'feels'.  As of right now I don't have all 8 angles (for the characters), still only using 4, and it doesn't really look all that bad.  I do intend on creating the other angles too though.

Here's a link to mine (if you care!): My Isometric Perspective (Scroll down to my last post to see the most current version)

These look great!  I say go for it and keep up the great work!  Also, somebody commented about the rooms being too small?  Well, you can always make them scroll!  That's what I'm doing for several rooms in my game!

Cheers,

I don't think the size of the character really matters as long as he looks alright in the backgrounds you're using.

I think it looks good.  I would suggest doing some kind of hi-lighting when you move the mouse over an option.  So like maybe have the box closed, but when you mouseOver it it opens up.  Make the disk glow when mousedOver and make the item bounce ... something like that.

But I dig the idea.  It has much promise!

This might be the most insightful (though somewhat depressing) post I've read on these boards.

I read your .doc file.  I think depression is a serious problem in the world today.  I hope your friend's recovery continues and that your sister has the same success.  I've dealt with depression with several people and I know it's certainly not a good thing.

I came to the realization a few years ago that kids who grew up without problems (family or otherwise) are the exception to the rule.  I used to think the opposite.  That I, with all the shit I went through, was the odd-ball.  Now I've come to know that everybody, it would seem, goes through shit like that!

Old TV shows like Leave it to Beaver were bullshit!  That perfect family shit doesn't exist.  I think it's how you come through it all that testifies to the person you are/will be.

I went through years of depression and self doubt because of family problems.  I think, in the long run, it made me a better/stronger person.  Perhaps a bit opinionated (as I'm sure Andail wouldn't disagree!) :)

But anyway ... I think the best way to conquer the shitty ass world we live in is to take it head on.  Give it a big "Fuck you!"  I'm not going to let the shit that is this world get me down.  I struggle daily to find something to look up/forward to.  I look forward to waking up everyday because I find something worth waking up to.

Oh, and welcome back Andail!  I don't think any of us thought you'd stay away too long!  Once you're in, there's no getting out :)

Minimi - each time you post something new I can see an improvement!  Keep it up man!!

I really like what you've made here.  I have done 3D traces a lot in the past.  It creates a really interesting look/feel for an image.

Pessi gives good photoshop advice.  I use slightly different methods but his ways are just as good!  (some of our methods are the same :))

I look forward to more!

I think the craze over highschool football is probably only an American thing, but I don't know 'cause I live in America.  So I can't speak for the rest of the world.  I've never understood why parents get so nutz over it.  Then again, I'm not yet a parent, so maybe someday it'll make sense to me!

The town I went to highschool in had a great football team and the school pretty much gave them whatever they wanted.  I played basketball and soccer and we got nothing but hand-me-down uniforms and had to practice (soccer) at an old facility 'cause the football players got all the field space after school.  It lead to some innerschool rivalries.

As far as the entire sporting world goes I don't think there's a crazier sport than Soccer (football) anywhere.  Those fans are nuts!  There was actually a war started over a soccer match between Honduras and Salvador in 1969.  Now that's devotion to your team :)

I would like you to meet, Lightning Bug Man.

I faded the stars out as they approach the horizon.  I added in a gradient to simulate an atmosphere.  This space port is located on a planet actually.

I thought the stars should fade out as the horizon lightens up.

Does this bother anybody else?  It's just a layer mask and I can remove it easily.

Also, I was going to add a halo of light around the lamps, but wasn't pleased with how it looked.

Final Image:

I added in some shadows and some more lighting effects.
Unless anybody has any major problems with this one, I'm going to call it a completed image and use it in-game.

Thanks to ALL of you for your constructive advice.  It really made all the difference.

cheers,

SSH & Taryuu - I added in a few bigger stars ... just for you guys :)

Fizz - Thanks for the praise.  I don't know that I've ever spent this much time on one image before (that wasn't work related)

Latest Version:
Note: I just noticed that the images are showing up slightly darker on the forums than they do in Photoshop.

Aside from some work with lighting, how does this look?

I will be judging this soon (a little later tonight) so if anybody wants to get in on this there's still time!!

Who is your favorite??

DYDO - I noticed how they looked off too!  It's pretty wierd.  My next step on this is to add all the little details to the space port.  I'm going to do that today and should have something to show a little later on.

Unless anybody has any major problems with this version I'm going to consider it complete and move on.

Version 10:

EDIT: Wanderlady ... I just realized something.  You thought the stars on the glass were being seen through the glass huh?  They're supposed to be reflections :)
