My brother, the  computer whiz, put together a system for me.

AMD 2.3 ghz
512 meg of RAM
120 GB Hard Drive
CD-RW/DVD combo drive
3D card with 128 meg RAM (not sure which one exactly)
Case w/ 400 watt PS
floppy drive (just in case)
Sound Card (again not sure which type)
- basically everything needed.

All that was for 780 USD which is about 690 Euros.  This was put together by him, meaning all the parts were bought seperately and then put together.  So I would say, for what you got, that's not too bad a price.  Plus I'm sure you got a warranty on it too.

cheers,

GarageGothic and Femme Fetale make some good points but I think GinnyW (is that Ginny Weasley by chance?) said it best with "but any character is good as long as it's well written and interesting."

evenwolf - if you had read my post thoroughly you would have seen the part that says 'IN MY OPINION'.  It's not hipocritical to give somebody my opinion, nor is it 'encouraging them to accept it'.  Please read carefully.  Thanks.

Let's get back on topic now shall we?

MrColosssal - My first post was meant to be a joke.  I very much appreciate your opinions about 1 word posts and not backing them up with more substance (I even tend to agree with you).

Darth-Mandarb, I think we've also made clear that you should avoid double-posting, especially when your posts are that short. I also don't see the point with quoting yourself, although I can't say it's against the rules.
I did this to prove a point.  Read next paragraph.

I try very hard to not worry about things when I know full well it's not going to do any good.  I mean, no matter how much we say, "Stop doing this" or, "You shouldn't do that" or even, "Please don't do that", it's still going to happen.

You could always put a minimum characters entered on each post ... but then you'd just get smart asses (like myself) posting a lot of smilies.

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Minimi - That's pretty cool.  Are you planning on (somehow) incorporating this into AGS in a 3D format?

The reason I ask is 'cause I've been working on a way to simulate a 3D environment in AGS.  I'm still working on it, but I'd like to hear what you've got planned!  PM me if you'd like!

Good job!

Just from reading the intro I was getting a great 'feel' to the character already.  Kinda like a cross between Max Pain and Duke Nukem ... only cooler.  I could see/feel the environment.  Very descriptive.

I hate Miami.

I would love to see a game about this.

I'm an incredibly tolerant and patient person.

When somebody makes a completely ignorant statement, trying to make me seem like I said something hipocritical when I didn't, I just let it wash over me.

I always try to think things through when anger bubbles up.

I try to think, "What good would losing my temper be at this point?" -or- "Will it really accomplish anything other than temporarily making me feel good?"

Anger management courses are shit.  It's just somebody's idea of how to lure people into spending money.

The best anger management is your own brain.

Wierd Al rocks!  I've seen him 6 times in concert and each one gets better and better!

Have you ever seen the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota?

I'd have to say I prefer playing a male character because I can relate to it more.  I agree with Yak's comments about the character being a completely seperate character and not 'you' on-screen.  I much prefer playing a male character that is not me.

About the topic of this post.  No matter what you post and how intelligent/specific/detailed it might be (or not be) there are always going to be those here who wine about it.  So, in my opinion, post whatever you want and don't worry, or respond, the those who complain about it.

Eddie Vedder ...  Rock on!

I agree with Necro about the shading on the back view.  The only thing I would add would be to make his legs a little skinnier (if possible).  But that's only if you're trying to make it Eddie Vedder ... otherwise, if it's an original character, leave as is.  It looks great!

Excellent!

This is exactly what I wanted to create for my game.  I just didn't know if it was possible!  This is awesome!  I have to admit, yours looks better than what I've come up with so far :)

The other idea that I had (while looking at your picture here) would be that while you're mouseOver the button for inventory you could right and left click to scroll through your inventory items and the pictures could be in the middle of the ring as you scroll through.

So I'm assuming there's a way to have the GUI pop-up in the position the cursor is located when you right click?  Because that's what I need to make mine work (I know ... this should be in a different section)

Variable line thickness rules!  It's one of my favorite styles.

Good job Pessi!

I thought it looked a little empty but, as you were just experimenting, this is a great start!  If this is your first ... it'll only get  better!!

Post some more when/if you can!

Pessi - I wasn't kidding ... I did read his last post, I just read it wrong.

Flippy - considering you did this without layers I've got nothing to say about it other than, you've got patience man ...

You've missed a lot!  The forums have become a cynical cess-pool of insults and bad attitudes.

Welcome back!

When somebody becomes a part of a community, they want that community to know what they're doing and what's up with them.

I don't understand why so many of you jump on Minimi's back just for telling people, who he considers his pals, that he's going to be gone for a week.  It's pathetic.  Leave him alone ...

If all you're going to do is insult the guy for telling his friends he's going away for a week, then stop wasting bandwidth and don't reply to his post.

Minimi - I hope you have a great week where ever it is you're going.  I too am out of town (just dropped into the forums to see what was up while I was away).  Before I left I thought of posting something like this post to say 'see you all later' but I knew how a lot of people would react (and this post just proved me right!).  Don't let it get you down ... there are those here who realize the purpose of forums and appreciate what you're trying to say.  Drop us a line when you're back.  Perhaps an 'I'm back' post would be great ;D

Rock on,

I really like this! It needs a little more shading but it's off to a GREAT start!

I like the general idea behind it.  I think it would be a cool way to also do communications with people where their face would be on the little screen.

Keep it up!!

Tried it before ... a few years ago.  I think that's what it was ... it didn't work very well.  We had a LAN set up that my roommies and I used to play UT (unreal tournament) on and that was how we commuicated back and forth.  It was neat, sorta, but the sound quality wasn't all that great.

This was a long time ago ... they've probably improved on it somewhat I'd guess since then.
