The soundtrack will be available for free when you purchase the game. :)  It's my way of enticing people to purchase on my site versus all the distribution portals.

I'm happy you all like it so far.  This game has come a long way since it's inception and it's exciting to finally share it!

With the release date approaching, I have gotten several requests to host a new fan art contest. Sooo.... okay!

The rules are simple: draw, paint, or sketch any character from a Wadjet Eye game, which includes The Shivah, the Blackwell series, or Emerald City Confidential.

The top three winners will receive a free downloadable copy of Blackwell Convergence (which includes the soundtrack). The three runners-up will receive a five dollar coupon to anything in the store. Every other entry will receive a consolation prize.

This contest starts NOW and will continue till the game is released.  For examples of previous entries, you can check out the Wadjet Eye fan stuff section.

Remember that nobody will leave the contest empty-handed, so send your stuff our way!

Seems a bit arbitrary for a game to be completed before requesting VO.  Lots of games intend on including VO from the beginning.  I know mine do.  I often record the VO alongside production.

Does your site use an old version of wordpress?  I had the same exact error, once upon a time.  I had to download everything onto my hard-drive and do a virus check on everything.  Everything file labelled "index.htm" or "index.html" was infected.  I removed these files, then re-installed wordpress and reuploaded everything.  Seems fine so far.

Oh, and a second cartoon short has been out for awhile but I neglected to post it here:

Rosangela teaches Joey the finer points of television re-runs.

Enjoy!

The VO work for Emerald City Confidential ended up costing about $23,000.
:o

QuoteFor my internal games like Blackwell, I get a much better deal!  The actors I use here in New York usually charge about 50 or so a pop
I'm so using the Dave Gilbert Voice Acting Studio for Resonance...

I'd love to help with your voice acting, Vince!  Gimme a shout when you have a script.

Depends what you want, really.  Professional voice actors will usually charge $300 per hour with a one hour minimum.  If you use a studio, that can get dang expensive.  The VO work for Emerald City Confidential ended up costing about $23,000.  Of course that was for several dozen characters and almost 10,000 lines of dialog, plus it was funded by a publisher who paid for the whole thing.

You can certainly get voice actors for cheaper.  For my internal games like Blackwell, I get a much better deal!  The actors I use here in New York usually charge about 50 or so a pop, sometimes more if they do more than one characters.  Of course, I know a lot of actors in the theatre scene so the personal connection helps.  I prefer being able to direct them live.  It is so much better than getting VO lines remotely.

I'm willing to act as your VO studio, if you need help with that.  I'm not a professional studio, but I've directed five games worth of actors so far.  Feel free to drop me a PM.

edit: I've used voice123 before, but I've had (mostly) horrible experiences with getting lines remotely.  The quality of the sound differs greatly from person to person, and it's very hard to give direction.  Just a preference.

Sigh.

Alas, there's no denying it any longer. Convergence will not hit the June 30th release date as planned. I've delayed the release until July 20th. Many apologies to everyone who wanted to play it next week, but we need more time.  All I can say is that the extra weeks will be worth it.

I'm an exhibitor as well?  I didn't know that! :o  Unless your definition of expo exhibitor is different than mine?  Usually it means getting booth space to demonstrate (i.e. exhibit) your products.  I don't remember buying booth space...

Wow.  It's been almost 9 years since I wrote that game!  Thanks for the blast from the past. :)

I was rooting through my brother-in-law's PC Gamer magazines and found this article on RoN in the February, 2009 edition.  I hadn't seen any mention of it here or on the site, so I thought I'd share.

Aaand here's another video.  Game's fast approaching so my promotions are ramping up:

Check out some gameplay footage of the game in action.

I admit, I wasn't impressed at first but the game is growing on me!  Very nicely done!

I am, however, a bit stuck...

Spoiler
I just killed the Rancor at Jabba's palace, and reported back to Vadar.  He tells me to "go join Captain Steller" but I have no idea where Captain Steller is!  I've moved the cursor over everyone on the ship, and travelled to all the existing locations, but I can't find the guy.  Lil help?

Believe it or not, I got an expensive mic with a pop filter and everything and it sounded 10x worse than my headset.  It might just not work well with my computer.

Thanks Ascovel.  Flash Potatoes did the animation and they worked on Emerald City Confidential, but they didn't work on Blackwell.  Thomas Regin's theme is from the game, so technically he worked on the cartoon too!

I've produced a few cartoon shorts as a way to promote the new Blackwell game.  It's been in the works for awhile, but the first episode is up!

Blackwell Cartoon #1: "On the Town"

Joey encourages Rosa to get out more, with interesting results.
