In there like swimwear.

Hm.  I'm using the latest and greatest version.  It still doesn't solve the problem.
#1784
Hm, ok I think I might have something that will shed some light on this problem.

WHen I change the expressions for the talking portraits, I do a "ViewFrame *frame = Game.SetViewFrame(x,x)" command.  Could this be what is causing the problem? And is there anyway around it?

Don't know who you are, Dan, but Walrus has at least responded reasonably and intelligently.  You, on the other hand, sound like a raving lunatic.  Please calm down.

You know, I do read your posts as if you are fairly mature. You do seem to act like it and you do tend to write out your posts well, and then your last line of every post blows it all away. I can't tell if it's baby-speak or some reference to something that at least, I don't know.

I should clarify that it wasn't just the voice acting for Vimes that bothered me, they changed his character altogether in order for him to be the villain of the piece. In fact he behaved more like Captain Quirk. That's a small point though, it didn't hamper my enjoyment of the game.

True, to a point.  I didn't mind how Vimes was voiced, because the game was from Lewton's point of view.  Lewton hates Vimes, with what he feels are good reasons. It felt kind of "right" that Vimes was portrayed negatively.  It goes against what we know from the books, but the game isn't from the usual point of view...

When it comes to voice acting a pre-defined character, it's impossible to please everybody.  Some people have already commented that the voice acting for "Shivah" won't match what they had in their heads, and the voiced version isn't even out yet!

Sorry for the bumpage, but there is a fanart contest going on HERE that you artistic folk might be interested in. Winners will get a free copy of Shivah Deluxe.

Discworld Noir is the base inspiration for almost every game I've ever made.  Without it there would have been no Max Griff, nor Shivah, and BoE would have been totally different.

I loooved this game so much.  The noir tough-guy fantasy thing was unseen in adventure games before, and I thought Lewton fit rather well.  I think Discworld Noir is definitely the best of the three, since Discworld 1 & 2 were a bit too goofy/cartoony for my tastes.

The only thing I really remember annoying me about Discworld Noir was that it takes forever to chat with some of the characters.  That guy in the sculpture shop, for example. You click on him, and you have to wait for the man to move into just the right position before he'll talk to you, and he moves slow.

The clues-as-inventory and smells-as-inventory was totally inspired.  I'm surprised more games haven't tried a clue system like that.

Anyway, if you really want to do a remake go right ahead.  But why bother?  Just make another discworld game if you're hungry for more.

Walrus,  you have to understand we get requests like yours every week or so.  It's difficult to take them seriously, and it's no surprise that tempers flare when a thread like this is started.

Don't bother defending yourself.  Just withdraw, make a few small games by yourself, build a reputation, and THEN you can ask people to assist with your masterpiece that will require lots of time and effort.

Again, I suggest giving RON a try.  That's how a bunch of agsers got their start (like Grundislav, AGA, SteveMcCrea, and myself).

Hi,

People might be more willing to help if you have proved yourself first.  As it stands, I don't know what you will be putting into the project.  You might want to check out the Reality on the Norm project: http://ron.the-underdogs.info.  If you have no experience in drawing or scripting it might be a good place to start.

Hi Fabiano,

My middle initial begins with "L", and feels very sad that you left him out.

The website is DAVELGIL.  That should set things right.

The super-deluxe version with the voicetrack, remixed music and extra puzzles? Yes.   You can still play the freeware version.  Although I won't be supporting it. :)

Nostro:  I wasn't really trying to make any kind of stance against corruption, although I did enjoy exploring the theme about what it means to be jewish, etc.  I wasn't able to go as in depth as I would have liked (time constraints prevented it), but my main aim was to present a point of view that isn't usually seen in games.  Or anywhere, for that matter.

Ivy:  Thanks!  You should give the "rabbinical responses" a try!  Who knows.  It might work.

And for those of you who are wondering, yes.  I'm making a talkie version of the Shivah.  I'm doing the Yahtzee thing and making a deluxe version - full speech, re-composed music, new puzzles (which provide a bit more info into Zelig's backstory), and an audio commentary.  I'm happy with the way it's turning out so far.  The actor's I've hired to do the voices have been doing an amazing job.  It'll be available for about 2-3 bucks and should be ready in a few weeks.

Good morning!  Rested and de-lagged and feeling good.  What a week.  Thanks, AGA, for hosting us.  Hope we didn't trash your home too badly.

Some of my personal highlights of the week were:

- The mysterious disappearance of Spleen while walking in the woods at night
- Drinking brains
- Proving to everyone that I am the worst bowler EVER.
- Falling off a cliff.
- Watching CJ play Grand Theft Auto.
- Disco doing, well, anything.
- Escaping to America with Creed's hat
- Geeking out at the Who Shop! :-D  (I bought a talking tardis coin bank, because my life was incomplete without one)

I have pics!

Enjoy!

EDIT:  Holy crap, Jet.  That photoshop is awesome.
