Hey Anomoly!  I remember you showing this to me on IRC about two years ago.  Happy to see it's still underway.

Yeah, basically what Yoke said.  We accomplished a LOT in the mad dash to get the game ready for the deadline, but now that it's over we really want to polish the game off.  Right now I'm going over the dialog, fixing typos, and adding more descriptions to hotspots and interactions.  Yoke is going to sort out some of the major bugs that refused to be squashed.  And BT is going to be drawing some additional animations for the ending.  So yeah, hopefully a week.

Hah.  That reminds me. I should burn those sheets.

And M0ds, look what I found behind my dresser:

Serious is good.  There aren't enough serious games.  Go for it.

Wow! Sounds promising! I also think your graphics have been improved again! I love the interface!

Thanks Erwin, but these aren't my graphics.  Guess I should have made it clear.  This game was part of the AGS team competition.  I only did the writing.  The artwork was done by everybody else. :)

Background
----------

Over half a millennia ago, a meteor crashed into Earth. It was hardly noticed, and soon all traces of its existence vanished. Hundreds of years later, the town of Bluff City was founded on the same spot.Ã,  It wasn't long before the early settlers noticed something strange happening. Every child born in Bluff City was bestowed with a special power, such as levitation, or the power to turn invisible. These "gifts" were a scientific impossibility, ignoring all laws of genetics. With its heightened popularity, Bluff City grew and expanded.

Tim and Tiffany Walters are fraternal twins, born and raised in Bluff City. After a traumatic childhood (which they don't talk about), they became extremely close and depend on each other for everything. To pay the bills, they have opened a Private Investigator business.Ã,

Characters:
-----------

Timothy Walters - Special Power: Levitation

Tim acts like an older brother to his sister Tiffany, despite the fact that he was born three minutes after her. He is strangely overprotective of her, and is constantly making sure that she's okay. He is very moody, often depressed, and looks at the world through jaded, cynical eyes. His one joy comes from listening to rock music.Ã,  He is particularly fond of KISS; he has all their CDs and has even met some of the members.

Tiffany Walters - Special Power: Talking to Animals

Tiffany is cheerful, happy-go-lucky and childish. Not only is the glass constantly half full for her, but it's also pink with smiley faces drawn on it.Ã,  She is obsessed with stuffed animals, of which she has many, and believes that she can always get her way by saying "Please!" often enough. Tiffany is always trying to get her brother Tim to have fun, which usually consists of a game of Candy-Land.

Features
--------
Two playable characters
Multiple solutions to puzzles
Over 20 playable rooms
Over 15 characters
A soundtrack composed of 14 original tunes

Notes
-----

This game was originally made for the AGS Team Competition.Ã,  The team consisted of Yoke, Dart, BerserkerTails, Scotch and myself.Ã,  Never had I imagined a team so great.Ã,  We managed to make the deadline, but feel that the game needed a bit of sprucing up before unleashing it upon the unforgiving masses.Ã,  We're adding some dialog, squashing some bugs, and adding some nifty features before the official release.Ã,

EDIT: A new screenshot, because you are all so lovely:

Finished by the skin of our teeth!

My GOD what an experience.  The challenge of a deadline was refreshing for all of us. I had a great team and was proud to have every one of them on board.

Till next time,

Jason Appleton, I presume?  What ever happened to the game you were writing for your band?

Hey Andail,

One question about the deadline.

What time on Saturday is the "official" deadline? Midnight? GMT? EST?  PST?

There is already a mittens game under construction. I'm afraid it features neither UN nor kittens, but we could always do a sequel.

Yeah. sorry about this.  The team competition game took some precedence, I'm afraid.  The infamous mittens game will be released soon after the competition ends.

General Discussion / Re: Just blew in...

HEck, I live in New York City and never one went to the top of the Empire State Building, or the Statue of Liberty.  Never went to the top of the Twin Towers either, which is kind of a depressing thought.

General Discussion / Re: Play your own games?
Mon 09/08/2004 21:50:29
I try not to, but sometimes I find myself playing through one of my old games.  I wouldn't recommend it, because the remaining flaws become so glaringly huge to you after awhile that you become sick of the game.  At least, that's what happens to me.  I can't stand playing "Bestowers of Eternity" now, although I still get a kick out of "Purity."

Title: Two of a Kind

Team: Epileptic Fish

Art: 80%
Music: 50%
Scripting: 80%
Story: 100%

I continue to be impressed daily by the hard work and dedication that the team is exhibiting.  Progress has been forging on strong since the project started, and even my stint at Mittens didn't hinder everyone.  During my Absense, Yoke took the reins and did a great job.

We are all working like mad to meet the deadline.  Some features had to be removed because we were a bit ambitious.  But once the competition is over, we fully plan on remaking the game with better graphics and perhaps some new puzzles.

66. Finding out how new yorkers drive.

As New Yorkers always say: if you don't like the way I drive, STAY OFF THE SIDEWALK.

:)

Nearly forgot these:

62. Jetxl and I capsizing the canoe, dunking us unceremoniously into the lake.  (I was optimistically fully clothed at the time)

63. Going to a neighborhood bar and being unable to drink because I was driving.

Quick question Andail.

If we finish early, can we beta test?
#2140
Wow.  Thanks for bringing this thread back from the ashes.

The commercial release will have only one part, that being the full and complete game.
