The Incredible Adventures of Edd Schiester #1: Escape From A Large Cave.

(Oh, all right, Monkey Island 4.)

Thanks for the responses, I'm certainly glad YOU liked it DG, I was prepared to take it down if you objected to it...

Here are some notes about the game, if anyone's interested (I know I am):
Spoiler
"Derrderr" isn't actually used in the game, it's just in the zipfile name and possibly the window title if you play windowed. A bonus reference to DGMacphee's other work, "Ultimerr." :)
I was originally going to have the bridge room in there, and if you examine it you "find two mince pies and a glass of brandy. You are now merry." However, I couldn't think of anything I was satisfied with for the rest of that room, or indeed the water front or Wife Beater rooms, so just didn't implement them.
There are 40 possible Christmas presents to randomly ask the boy if he would like instead of a knife, including the main one I got this year, and one "different" one. (You'll know it if/when you come to it.)
The smeared text behind rudolf is meant to say "SLEIGH BELLS". I wanted it to be a lot smaller, on one side, with possibly another phrase or two, but couldn't work Photoshop's liquify thing to do that right :P
I thought there was a line in there somewhere in the second room about "Gleaming snow, fresh from the DLL" but apparently not.
The player character can be examined. (Not much else can be.) It's all that came of an idea I had to have the PC's walk animation randomly change every time you move - gliding, hopping up and down, and in one case lifting up the coat to reveal spindly legs riding a unicycle.
Originally, in the outro, the foetus-angel said "God bless us, every one!" and the PC turns to say "You said it, Foetal Tim!" That kind of messed up the point of the wink, though.
This was entirely made since Sunday night. I would've worked a lot more into it (or at least tried to) but I can only use the computer during the day, not all night as usual.

This is a very short, silly parody. Apologies to DGMacphee :) (and anyone who tries to understand it without playing the original)

http://www.malxode.co.uk/derrderr.zip

It started off as a sort of joke side-project while I was trying to get an entry done for Xmas MAGS. The main project never got off the ground, and this does not qualify for the comp, but here it is.

Thanks for the comments. I will try some stuff based on your suggestions in a while.

Ginny, I use GIMP to do all my gfx (currently...)

Try to ignore the flat, blank surrounding walls & sky :) Not because I couldn't be bothered, but because I'm still unsure what I want them to look like, & I'd like to know what people think of the foreground stuff...

"Oculus" is a cool eye synonym. Oculus Entertainment?

Thanks very much for the feedback. Various things about the lighting, relative scale, angle of the bed etc. are starting to annoy me (I've been looking at it too long :P) so I decided to put it on the back burner for a bit and have a go at doing a walk cycle for one of the characters:

That's looking pretty good. The reason it looks worse is JPEG is not meant for cartoony pictures, but photographs, and uses techniques to compress the image that don't show up on photos but do on stuff like this. You should use GIF or PNG instead, if possible, which won't change how the image looks.

Hee hee. I love games like this.

Thanks for the compliments... I know about the ceiling, I still haven't decided what I want to put up there yet. I'm not sure what you mean about the door though Jimi

Here's a less minimalist version, I put in some computer stuff:

Here also are some characters I drew:

Deluxe Paint- It's on a few abandonware sites. Used to draw MI1/2 if you didn't know...
Isn't that where "guy.brush" came from? ;)

I use GIMP at the moment. I recommend it but it does take a while to get to grips with.

I don't have any specific plans for this yet...

Any feedback appreciated :)

Of course! I should've thought of that. Thanks  ;D

I really, really want to get at those templates but it keeps saying they need a newer version of AGS and I just downloaded 2.55 a minute ago. Did I download from a bad mirror? Anyone else have this problem?

This looks like a great game but I think I exploited a bug without realising...

Spoiler
I tried to open the front door while the floor was still wet, went outside and came in, and it seems like the game thinks I fixed the wet floor when I didn't do anything...
