Back to Reality was brainstormed as a five game story, taking place on the same day from the perspective of five different characters. Each game runs parallel with each other - mostly different locations and characters, but some overlap, with events and actions bouncing forward and back across each game, with all the narratives converging at the end of each game with a major event (think League of Gentlemen season 3). The idea is to set it some distance in time from the previous games (similar to what Helios did with Affair of the Weirdo - in fact, that period in the chronology would be ideal), allowing for some growth in the characters due to the interim period of time if desired.

The main idea behind the mini-series is to recap some of the previous running stories, kick off new ones and generally allow contributors to have a new jumping in point where they can do new games without necessarily having to play through the 90-odd games currently in the library to get an idea about where the characters and stories currently are.

The original plan was for each game to be handled by a different person, but developed in parallel so that the narratives/characters used can properly sync up. Right now, myself and Renegade Implementor are attached to it, with room for three other developers to do one each. I'm still very much up for seeing it happen, I'll probably be looking at my own one again in the new year once I've got LotD and the Postman rebuilds under my belt.

I am currently working on a rebuild of Lunchtime of the Damned that is taking shape very nicely. Uses the most recent backgrounds and sprites, neew arrangements of the music, and fully voiced characters. I'm aiming for a release around mid-December, if not sooner.

I also have the blessing from the wonderful Dave Gilbert to give The Postman Only Dies Once a similar treatment.

More ambitiously, I still have the design document for the first part of the five-episode "Back to Reality" re-pilot I brew up with RI and others. Planning on revisiting this in the new year.

That was excellent! Props in particular for taking elements that weren't particularly developed from the games (the Nameless Law Official, the Frank/Fred feud) and for doing something interesting with them. Can't wait to read more.

Also, Permanent Daylight? A reference to an upcoming game?

The woman? I think she's fed up of being this guy's sexy slave... so she hatches a plan to kill him, but has to make it look like an accident.
Sounds like the potential for a good game!

Funny, enjoyable, and actually quite poignant in places. An excellent RON game all round, sir.

Knightmare.

This one's a no brainer. I mean, it was a TV gameshow based on 80s adventure games. I'm honestly amazed no British AGSers have given this one a shot by now.

1. Yusef Littlejohn, who pre-emptively answers questions before they are asked.

2. Portcullis Phil, with a face comprised entirely of fridge magnets.

3. "The Dongle", who can survive currents of up to 10,000 volts when sticking his gonads in a plug socket.

4. Sinister Suzie, with self-aware eyebrows.

I don't mind it being added, although I think it should be labeled with the "Non-Canon" status.

I think RI was working on it last, so he probably has the "latest" version. He and I laid a very solid foundation that's ripe for further addition, so if you want to fashion something out of it, then feel free.

Awesome demo. If you still have the backgrounds, I'm sure someone will make use of them in the future if they were posted, as well as the characters/planned story.

And here I was getting excited that there was a new post about RON...

Stuff is in the works. Watch this space. 

Can't go wrong with Reality on the Norm. There's a whole zip of backgrounds waiting to be used.

A most funksome film. For some reason, I kept wanting to reach into the screen and stroke Creed's beard. Take from that what you will.

This is utterly amazing and I intend to do everything I can to make sure it happens.

Was browsing TV tropes today when I came across an entry for RON. For those unfamiliar with the site, TV tropes documents and analyses all the different conventions in creative endeavours, how often they occur, and how they are applied/subverted. It's a genuinely fascinating website that is very easy to get sucked into for hours on end.

A nice start has been made for the RON entry, but I'm pretty sure there's a few more that can be added. For fans of TVT interested in a little project, I'll just leave this here.
