Surely I can't be the only one who likes the new Death?

Anyways, this is a very nicely done remake - faithful to the original but taking advantage of all the new resources RON now has.

Question: what was the level of involvement, and could others replicate it for the other older games such as Lunchtime and Postman?

I know PRECISELY the feeling you describe, NF. And I have a course of action that may do you the world of good.

Ever heard of Reality-on-the-Norm? It's an open source ongoing series of AGS games that anyone can chip in to. Many of this community's veterans (Yahtzee, Grundislav, Creed Malay, Dave Gilbert) got their start by releasing a RON game (or several). And with a huge selection of already-drawn backgrounds, objects and characters, plus a rich backstory to tap into, it really is a fantastic place to start if you're looking to release a simple AGS game to get the feel for the whole process.

Check it out at http://ron.the-underdogs.info, I really think it's what you're looking for.

A Monkey Island topic WITHOUT Cyrus?!?

THESE ARE THE END OF TIMES.

You're looking for a Baker type title, they tended to be quite simple. If you want a serial-esque title, I reckon something along the lines of 'Excalibur's Glory'. Simple and does what it says on the tin. What else... 'The Final Solution'?

Also, I know it's probably for reasons of time and not wanting to go through the tedium of doing a new sprite... but when the doc gets electrocuted, shouldn't he regenerate in his Davison persona?  ;D

I shall attempt to steer this topic to productive uses.

VOTE SAXON.

I'm not attacking anyone, and I apologize if I came across that way.

No offence taken, none meant, just wanted to clarify what might've been a bit vague in my original post  :)

On a lighter note, Terry Pratchett was once offered a large sum from some american producers to allow them to make a movie of "Mort", all they wanted to change was "to get rid of the death angle".
Life's a funny old dog.

That is wrong on so many levels.

It's Wednesday, and there's no word yet from Creed. I am genuinly worried now. What if they discovered his bug, and put him to work in their underground Thetan mines?

'The Art of Adventure'

'It does more before twelve than you do before ten!'

'If Ron Gilbert was a game engine, he'd be this one'

Ooo. Good luck.

But did you feel a strange urge to visit a Scientology recruitment centre after watching it?

Or an urge to punch John Travolta in his face?

Those are natural. Run with them!  ;D

I gave the free stress test a try, having read up on the cult, saw the South park ep AND the BBC documentary. Harken to events, of which I shall now sing.

First, even before I sat down, they asked me if I was a goth, on the basis I was wearing my customary black shirt, jeans and blazier. So in the first ten seconds, they have proven themselves to be REMARKABLE judges of character.

Next, after mentioning that I took a course in psychology once and my roomate was studying it for their degree, they told me a terrible anecdote about how evil they are, and that they knew a guy who's psychiatrist was responsible for his doctor cutting his legs off. Despite the fact it was clearly done to make me dislike psychology, the story itself was ridiculous. Evidently the psychatrist didn't even ask why his patient didn't like his legs, a point they insisted on repeating about three times. And what kind of Doctor would amputate one's legs based on such an obviously deluded recommendation?  If this was an attempt to discredit their competition, it failed miserably.

Finally, after revealing many frank details about myself (I was a student, I played music, I liked anime and bonsai, I was a fledging Adventure Game Designer), they turned around at the end and said I was trying to cover up my 'true character', and pointed out my demeaner and apparent 'easy going charm and good humour'. Evidently these are all signs of a diseased and crippled existance which must be overcome with expensive counselling.

I smiled, very politly declined the purchase of two copies of Dianetics (one for me and one for my roomate), got up, walked out of the tent, and proceeded to collapse in quite public hoots of hilarity.

RON 2 - Electric Boogaloo?
RON Part Deux?
RON II - The Fall of RON?

Or if we want to be completly gratuitous, why not simply 'Reality 2.0'?  ;D

Reality on the Norm: Cabbages and Kings had you trying to score some fungus for Doc, a man bearing a very close resemblance to Hunter S Thompson. Plus the main characters were stoners. Twas all in good fun though, and it really wasn't that key to the story.

Well, got the ball rolling on the Wiki. Updated the games page with information on Lunchtime of the Damned, and even if I've missed some info (probably have, was just a quick thing) I think I've got a nice idea for a layout.

Come on everyone - let's get cracking on this thing!

Also, Chapter V of my little novella Back to Reality has just been posted. Major kudos to Dylan for his help with this thus far. The first person to guess where I'm going with Julian's story gets a basket of muffins.

Hmm... I had to rename the exe 'Parklife' to get the Winsetup to work.

Other than that, it's progressing nicely. Keep at it!

Instead of 'substandard', how about simply 'other'?

And I. Oh, how I wish napalm was freely accessable...
