The Way Things Work?
#42
I believe it's more of a case of both conditions being satisfied at once. Plus, as it stands now, you can kill your own characters off if done so in the same game they were introduced, but not if they then become an established character.

Nicely done sir, these are looking cool. Love Tijn's especially. These and the backgrounds should be enough for some new games to start appearing.

Well, Zork is a significant plot device throughout Chuck, particularly the pilot and flashbacks - the series McGuffin is encoded in a fan-version that the main character worked on in his college years.

They say that a lie can go around the world before the truth has got it's boots on.

I don't know who "they" are, exactly, but based on comments like that, they could do with a damn good thrashing.

... well played, Mister Downing. Well played.

Happy Birthday RON. I promise that I'll revisit you again soon...

If you require an easy place to see how backgrounds and maps fit together, then take a butchers at this topic o'er by yar. Haven't been able to touch it for a while due to other projects and uni, but there's a new version in the works coming soon...

Much love for these. They sound ideal for scene transitions, one off events, title screens and whatnot.

Think I shall be finding use for these at some point...

EDIT -  Have a funky arrangement of the main theme wot I just found on YouTube.

General Discussion / Re: Twitter

My humble twittery abode.

In which I rant irreverence, talk shop about atheism and net neutrality, and shamelessly pimp out my assorted AGS/Knightmare/Voiceovering projects.

I'm down with such an adventure. I'm thinking something like a one room deal would be relevant to our interests?

A funky review. Read and Tweeted for Great Justice.

I would say that's a no no. It's not licensed for fan type stuff of this nature, and I don't think you'd have much luck hiding behind 'fair use', since it's not of an obviously parodic nature.

So, better not.

I second the above with the intensity of Robert Maxwell's waistline.

@deviantgent

In which our hero muses upon Reality-on-the-Norm, his twisted life philosophies, and mercilessly trolls the right-wing idiots who genuinely believe the Glenn Beck rape story is the work of the far left Cabal of Evil.

Nicely done, that gal. I propose it to be added to the non-fiction section of the site. Once someone takes over the running of the website, that is.  ;D

No worries Scruff, looking forward to the finished game.

My bad :D

But yes, looking forward to seeing an expanded review. And the prospect of more RON reviews in the future makes me a happy DC.

Always good to see RON games getting critique'd, so this is a cause I am firmly behind.

In regards to the meat of your review, I would concur with Brent. If you are wanting to carry on and cast your eye over some of the others, all I can suggest is really going to town on what you thought - how do the graphics and stories hold up? Were there some characters you thought worked well and some less so, and why? How much do you think it contributes to the whole RON concept as a whole, and how much do you think it deserves to ie what elements should be made aware of by aspiring RON gamemakers looking for possible story threads to pick up and develop? Never be afraid to really pick apart a game and expose flaws where necessary - any AGS gamemaker worth their salt will be looking for ways they can improve so their next project will be better, and chaps like yourself are an invaluable means for them to do so.

tl;dr - good job, hope to see more of this sort of thing.
