Critics' Lounge / My first serious background

Alright, so this is it, it's for a game I'm in the process of actually creating (wow...didn't think that'd happen) which I'm not going to say much about right now, but I just wanted to see what you thought of it. It's all done in Adobe Photoshop Elements LE, and has 38 layers. It was sort of my test, you see, to see if I could actually do it, and it turned out much better that I expected. I used a lot of gradients/transparencies, and used the noise filter for the road/sidewalk. Let me know what you think of it.

Notes: There will be a "Help Wanted" sign on the door, as an object, a bum sitting against the alley wall of the tatoo parlor (spelled wrong on purpose), the missing "O" lying against the curb, and I think the sign on the post will be an object too, but I put it on anyway, just because I wasn't thinking.  Also, the red building will be brick.
Oh, and it looks grainy because it's a gif, and I can't post the good quality BMP here. If you want to see that version, click here.

Yes, folks, Victor Stubbs. Er, this is he.

Um, yeah. Whatever. Heh.

I can't seem to get this to work. It's in the room script here:

// room script file
function object0_a() {
SetObjectIgnoreWalkBehinds (0,1);
}

This function is in the help section, but it keeps telling me it's an "unidentified token" or whatever. Maybe I'm missing something. And yes, I'm using 2.55.

Thanks.

Hi. It's me, DD. So, I tried to make some stairs. Yeah. Like that's gonna happen. This picture is basic, I haven't done anything fancy with it yet, but I tried to get the angles and perspectives right (as much as possible).

The two white squares in the very center will be doors, but they won't exist in this exact room. You move toward them, and you enter a more close-up room. There's an un-colored reception desk on the right (it's a hotel lobby) and an un-colored door behind it (that's a little slim).

I acknowledge all this, but what I want you to look at is...the stairs. Heh. Obviously. They're a little chunky. Any suggestions?

PS: I hope the picture isn't too big. I put it on my own webspace, and it's only 30 kb or something. Oh well.

*EDIT* I changed the picture's perspective, and haven't put in the receptionist's desk.

I am relatively new to this forum and AGS, but not to video games. I've done a lot of web programming and know the basic syntax for a lot of languages. That's not my problem here. I simply have a problem with music.

Now I am a very musical person, but I don't have much experience in writing my own. I give you two hypothetical situations:

1) WRITING MY OWN: What advice do you have? Programs? Synthesizers? What? Any general advice on the subject.

2) GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT: How many people are even willing to do it for no pay? Seems a lot for nothing. Also, what people are good for what kinds of games?

Now you don't have to answer all of these, just as much as you can. I have a lot of things planned, but no one wants to play a silent game.

Many thanks.

I'm making my own inventory window right now, and it's looking pretty good, but when I test it, I see that I am able to click outside of the window and also have my Iconbar at the top appear when my mouse goes to the top of the screen. I just wanted to know if it was possible to disable those sorts of interactions when my Inventory is open. Thanks!
