Disco, when is the final payment due?

The remaining 80% is payable in cash on arrival, or earlier if by bank transfer. This differs somewhat from the information on the website, but that information was included on the deposit confirmation email, so going with that :P

I'm assuming paying on arrival is preferable to most everyone? We also need a separate 500 EUR deposit which is given back at the end of the stay, in person from the sounds of things.

Calling all non-definite potential Mittens attendees!

I've just been going over my emails with the property managers and am curious if our numbers have stabalised, or if there is anyone else that is still in for a late addition? If anyone would like to come forward and join in during the next couple weeks, I can give the owners at least a month notice about our final numbers.

As for arrivals, violetnotpurple and I will be landing in Lisboa on July 17 and have two nights at Good Morning Lisbon, so we will be able to greet everyone at the airport on the 19th :D

Try Aseprite as a Graphics Gale substitute.

I use Debian's stock browser, Iceweasel, which is a version of Firefox. Essentially the same experience.

I have yet to try AGS games on the Debian machine I've had going for a month or two, but software in general has not been an issue for me so far. There are often free software alternatives to many things that make me not miss any major applications.

What are you thinking of running on your machine? I experimented with openSUSE, Elementary, and Fedora before settling on Debian 7 (xfce). Tonight I am trying Arch on a virtual machine. I hear good things.

Yes, Yes. We GET IT. What you're basically saying is:

QuoteI like you. I like you a lot. But you don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner. A rebel.

Arrivederci, baby!!

I am starting to think that too after seeing his version written out :)

Almost! I am looking to get "www.kennethhy.de".

Ben Jordan! Perhaps a prequel to the game series featuring Ben's grandfather on a case! :P

As far as I can tell, I have to be German, or have a German address in order to buy a .de domain name.  I know there are rules about this, but are there any trustworthy Germans who would help me acquire one of those fancy domains for an upcoming project of mine? (I'll pay for the domain, of course!)

Thank you to Vince Twelve for helping me write this post :D

I am interested in registering a ".de" domain using my name as a hack, but was blocked at the very last point in the transaction by a tick box confirming I (or an administrator) have a German address. My plan was to lie up until I was confronted about it 8-0

Name.com and GoDaddy seem to have "trustee" services where they take care of the address requirement on behalf of the purchaser. Each are a bit more than my preferred registrar: Namecheap. Name.com would be alright if necessary, but I would not give GoDaddy any business unless it was a final resort. All of my domains are with Namecheap, which do not offer that particular service. My Montenegro (.me) domain was obtained through them without issue, but ".de" has different requirements.

I understand that ".de" and other country-specific TDLs are popular for these type of hack registrations, so there must be either a way around or it is just not strictly enforced? Does anyone have experience with this?

Is that a seal being beaten? :O

We have one more coming! My sister wishes to enjoy Mittens with us this year. She was a potential attendee of the 2008 Mittens in France, but was unable in the end. She is now a member of the forums as well.

Please join me in welcoming violetnotpurple to our forums!

Not a bad idea, but is it entirely necessary? As a tourist destination, Sintra is certain to have a decent taxi system.

If for instance we do three big grocery trips for the group during the week, the cost of taxiing the food/drinks back would probably not even be half the price of a single day's worth of car rental. With three supermarkets all withing 1km, we could all walk and then call a taxi and send two or so people back. Simpler shopping trips could be done entirely on foot.

Edit: Sintra Táxis+CP is 350m from the house, near the rail station.

It seems like most everyone is arriving in the early afternoon, which is great news compared to some years. Has anyone managed to find any takeaways nearby? I have only seen restaurants and the supermarkets Tamara listed. It is nice to not do grocery shopping the first night so we can relax and catch up.

Are you flying easyJet Berian? I checked the flight times but just want to be sure. I will try and get the same flights.

Wow, congrats Jeremy and Tarah :) we'll need an AGS day care or summer camp soon.

In order to get people more pumped about Mittens, I am suggesting a fun subtitle: Mittens 2014 "Se a Vida É" Edition,  after the inspirational Pet Shop Boys song.

If that doesn't work, I shall point out that the closest restaurant to the house (at ~100 meters) is called "G Spot Gastronomia". You're all invited.

I just received a confirmation email that the payment has been recognised. We are now official!

Re: beds

QuoteHi Kenneth,

I have spoken to the owner and he sais that the beds are fine for adults.

The bunk beds are 190x90. So I believe it is ok! :)

Yay!
