Completed Game Announcements / Re: Puzzle Bots
Mon 10/05/2010 16:35:34
Congrats on another game out the door! I nabbed it the first day, but have not been able to play yet due to a fatal error when I try opening it after install.

I get this message:

Code: ags
"An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x7DF4C0E2; program pointer is -199, ACI version 3.12.1074, gtags (0,0)"

Full Disclosure: I am running this in Wine on Ubuntu 10.04 (which I know is not officially supported), but I have no clue what that message means, so want to rule out "not running Puzzle Bots in Windows" if I possibly can.

EDIT: After trying a few other games that I ran and played just fine a few days ago, I am getting the same message, so it is not Puzzle Bots itself. I guess the thing to do would be to reinstall Wine and hope that resets any settings I may have interfered with.

I suppose it doesn't matter, but I would recommend playing the VGA version first (unless you are more accustomed to playing EGA style games than not) and then going back and seeing how the original is different.

I find it more difficult to get started stat building from battle as (for me anyway) it is a lot more button mashing than actual strategy, unlike the VGA version battles.

Hello again everyone. Just a quick note to update on our current progress.

Tier has informed me that all the backgrounds featured in the game are now imported into AGS, so we have achieved 100% in that category now. Some are familiar from "Anomaly", but there are more new rooms in this episode than not.

I have done some neat (I think anyways :P) phaser-related animations since the last update, as well as some more dialog portraits. There are still a few big ones pending that involve spacewalks, but after that any outstanding animations will likely be minor puzzle-specific ones.

Scripting is the category I am least able to comment on (it makes my head spin), and is the most complicated thing going on at the moment with all the different interactions needed for a two playable character game. Additionally, there have been some GUI changes that are not reflected in the current screenshots, but once they are finalised we will be updating them. I will leave it to Tier if there is anything else he would like to update on since the scripting department really isn't any of my business :P

Thanks for checking us out and we hope to be helping satisfy your Star Trek gaming needs again soon!

I'm curious to know what it was you planned to say if someone had answered your call that night. Was it just to tell them that what they are up to is not child's play? :P

When I buy a Dell, if asked how I found out about them or my reasons for choosing a Dell, I shall direct them to this thread  :D

So it's either two or one free spaces left now, after I've claimed one, I guess.

I guess this means we won't be sharing a bed this year  :'(

Likewise! :P

Wow that is quite a bit of difference, and with flights the way they are I am leaning toward Grifone. Dates being moved 4 days east doesn't bother me at all either since I will probably be in Italy before and after those two sets anyways.

Antica is out:

QuoteHello Kenneth,
I've spoke to the owner and unfortunately he closed an unit ( IL GIRASOLE) for the next 6 months for renovation so the sleeping places are less: only 17.
I suppose that the web sites http://www.perugiaonline.com/anticaposta hasn't updated.
I can suggest you other accomodations suitable for your group composed of 24 and available from 26 July to 2 August ( Monday to Monday):

In Umbria region:
MONTELUCE
http://www.italy-villas-rentals.com/vacation_rentals/16769/

In Tuscany Southeast region:
PALAZZO SARTEANO
http://www.italy-villas-rentals.com/vacation_rentals/43128/

Consider that in high season all our properties can be booked only from saturday to Saturday this is why I suggested you only 2 properties avaiable, if your dates may be Sat to Sat as well, maybe I can send more listings!

I think her suggestions are a little overkill, even if the price was right (44?! :P) Still worth checking out though. The first link seems alright to me unless the price scales up.

I'm happy to join in

hmm I thought Firenze was a city in the south of Tuscany, and Florence was a bit further north :P how embarrassing!

Also I would like to add my thoughts on the cook/cleaning people being there when we are. I agree with Mark that is would be rather awkward to have people cooking and cleaning, as I would rather look after myself in both of those categories, and part of the fun is making a mess of the kitchen in particular :D

Not that we get up to too much mischief but I think if they were there full time it would be sort of a buzzkill for some of our spontaneous activities like roof quests and queen burnings and other such things.

If there is a way to opt out of that for our stay, that would be perfect.
#273
Well that is confusing regarding the amount of people the first link accomodates. At the top it says 28, then it says 22 twice in the description (in reference to outdoor seating and to beds between 9 rooms), or does this place have gîtes too :P

I like that is has "rich" fabrics too.

Well I'll take another look at this, dunno if flying into Firenze costs more than Florence though.

However, I think at this point everyone has committed to the agreed upon dates of 26 July to 2 August, which are likely harder to shift than anything else. I know it would be tough to work around for me.
#274
Best to have everyone under the same roof, so between the two I'd go for Berian's pick.

The price is a bit of an issue for me since more euros means even more dollars in proportion, but I am sure I can manage eventually.

QuoteDear Kenneth,
thanks for your request through our partner Perfect Places and you can see the unit ANTICA POSTA DI VALLELUNGA also on our web sites:
http://www.italy-villas-rentals.com/vacation_rentals/22797/

The full property is available in the period 26 July to 2 of August but I've contacted the owner to double check.
I've asked the owner the possibility to add 2 people in the property since it can sleeps up to 21 people.
I hope to let you know as soon as possible.

Best regards.
Lucy

Well at least the whole property is available. Curious though the website says 22 beds + 2 on sofabed while she says 21 and the listing here says 17?

Anyways I suppose I shall ask for a quote now if the rate might be different going through this third-party, but since we have two possibilities at the moment I am wondering if anyone else would like to chime in with regards to location, price, things to do, sexiness, etc.

It's probably just some wierd virus-ey thing that is meant to promote their music. Perhaps maliciously renaming your songs will get you curious and googling, and maybe buying.

It's genius really :P
#277
I just sent an inquiry to that hamlet placed I linked a page or two back. The website's "How to reach us" link ended up being driving directions :S

Some of these places are damn hard to get a hold of.

http://www.perugiaonline.com/anticaposta/

It says 22+2 which seems to be the magic number at the moment. With all the spaces filled and at the highest rate listed on the site, it should be â,¬209/person not including â,¬15 each cleaning at the end, which is one of the lower rates I've seen in a while :)
#278
That is my monkey loofah thing.

I believe I left that one in the château in France :( Another one was left at the mansion in Hollywood.

I need to write myself a note next time.
#279
Noes :(

I think it is perfectly safe. My penis is outside the frame by a decent margin. There must be many more worse things that are still okay to view at work.
#280
Sold!

I might not take donations BUT wine is definitely accepted and appreciated :D

Now we just need to find a place that has a broom, regardless of where it is or how many it sleeps :)
