if it's really all just battle shit...sounds epic. Is it all just battle shit?

It is rather action/battle oriented, but...

Spoiler
I would not describe it as "epic" in the least. There are not any Narnia-esque battles between armies of thousands, just small (sometimes very) groups or single.

General Discussion / Re: Body painting anyone?
Fri 22/05/2009 16:35:03
I've not done anything too detailed, but I like to play with paint for sure :D The trouble is finding paint that is meant for use on your body and not for art projects :P the first one here I'm in a sparkling red tempera paint that was a little itchy but washed off rather well (although my bathtub looked like a disco for two days). In the others I am sporting acrylic, which comes off after some scrubbing, but does so readily. Between these and on a budget I would recommend a liquid tube of clown-ish makeup, you might need several bottles but they are nicer, and finish a bit powdery.

This next week my friend in the Latin 2uiz photo and I are going to try making some more painted photos using some extender over skin that has been lotioned to see if that help, though eventually I would like to invest in some cosmetic grade stuff that is used all over and is more opaque than what I normally use :/

Yeah thank heavens for that. They may be learning that DVR should count as well, since the ratings increased somewhere between 25% and 35%, but like a week later :/ If only Firefly was on in the age of Hulu and Unbox.

I just came back as well, but found it quite pleasant, all things considered. Despite having a special knack for anything Terminator related,  I am also prepared going into any cinema since about 1998 that they just don't make films like they used to. T2 is a very tough act to follow and I don't think any future Terminator film including this one will match. That film came out at the very beginning of awesome modern visual effects, so the studios were not accustomed to hiding behind mind-blowing visuals. Substance is nowhere near as important anymore :(

Still, it was nice to have back after the pain of losing Sarah Connor Chronicles not 100 hours before this film was released *cries*

Wow congrats Vince. Now for your sleep cycle's sake I hope he lives up to his name!

Lets not forget the crawlspace into the attic, that could hold a few people who don't mind dust, spiders, and lead bricks :D

I just managed getting megabus tickets for a couple of quid return as suggested, which I am thrilled about :D I checked right after and the same tickets were going for 6x the price  8)

Magintz and I will be arriving at 9:30pm the night before and leaving at 7:20am the morning after Brittens officially ends, funny how it ends up being crazy late or early.

Just curious who in the interested/definite camp who is also coming up from the south is planning on driving up and when. Magintz and I were just weighing the costs of trains and coaches and flying or hiring a car for the week. It may be worth it if we have a few people go in together instead of all just getting trains or coaches.

Yeah, the excess luggage surcharge would be enormous!

I'd be interested, yeah. Unsure at the moment but still very keen. For making the trip I would be in for a few weeks at the least so might go off on more visits if anybody is lonely :p

Edit- So flights are looking at about $630 for a roughly three week period from 25 August to about mid-September (just guessing dates based on making it more cost-effective), which right now would be the cheapest ever transAtlantic crossing for me in the summer months :D. I'll ask around a bit and do some more looking but yeah this seems doable.

I've been using Busuu and think it's set up brilliantly. It is free up to the very advanced levels but I have done well learning some french through it. You go through lessons with sound and then write sentences in the target language that are peer-reviewed.

I was hosting two English friends around election time last year and they kept saying "Barack" like "bear-uhk", interesting for a name that was so widely televised :P

I'm seriously juuust on the cusp of being able to impress people at parties by bringing along my copy of Hip To The Javabean that I bought before it was cool.

This doesn't work in all situations, trust me. While on my backpackers tour of Scotland, my music choice (around the middle of the week-long trip) of Hip to the Java Bean was the only music to be booed out of the coach's sound system by about half or more of the 24 on the trip. Some of the fellow travelers were intensely vocal about their dislike. I heard "Can you turn this down a bit PLEASE?!", "Can we throw the CD out the window?", and "AW TURN THIS SHITE OFF!" all uttered by different mouths, and a glance around told me that a few others who did not say anything were noticeably uncomfortable for some strange reason. Needless to say I lost all choosing privileges after that :( I can understand different musical tastes, but that was just out-of-sight ridiculous!

Also, I was totally listening to some of Damn Skippy while at work tonight :)

Yeah I'm about to pay for my spot, once I withdraw the funds from my online account. This is usually one of the more exciting parts of the planning stage, it is always satisfying to have that part behind me.

I am still uncertain as to which airport I will be flying into, but it looks like Fort Lauderdale at the moment. I'm assuming that it is closer too, being 6 miles, than Miami airport? The website makes it sounds like it is smack in the middle between the cities.

Yeah, not to hijack the thread too much, but it is different since even citizens had to fill out those cards on the plane, and now it requires everyone going into the country to submit more information than before, and things that can easily be lied about anyways, questions that no one would ever answer in the positive if they wanted to get in.

And yes, the border guards are meant to be dicks, unlike places like France and Greece, and heck even the UK is easy where I just get a friendly question by one (1) single customs agent about where I'm staying and they hope I have a good time *STAMP*

Just so everyone knows, you now need to fill in an electronic permission to travel for travel to the US under the VWP now. This came in on Jan 12 2009. This needs to be filled out before you travel.

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/

You need to apply for this now, or they won't let you in. Just another way of securing America's borders. Keep in mind it is not a visa, just an authorisation to travel to the customs people at the border. You still need to get a visa approved on entry.

I had no idea this was going on :/

That is sickening -_- of course it won't affect me too much personally, but it's like they are inventing new ways to dicks in the name of assumed safety. As if having all the documents and the three necessary checkpoints at US immigration isn't enough. I really hate borders, sometimes to the point of having actual headaches (for real, like the kind that hurt).

Out of all the countries I have been to, getting back into the US is the hardest one to work through at immigration.

Disgusting... all I can really say  :'(

I am going to make this by either hook or crook.

Though I can imagine you would make a brilliant thief, I strongly suggest you hook, sir :D Statistically, you have a much lower chance of being caught. Plus it feels better.

I am coming and have 100% cash moneys (based on 20 person-ish occupancy) whenever you may require it.

So bearing in mind the likely costs of travel and accommodation, is anyone still interested in doing a pre- or post-Mittens visit to the Orlando attractions?

Depends on how much it is in the end. I'm not superexcited to go to Orlando in general, but it would be hard to pass up spending more time with everyone and going to theme parks as a larger group. I would be up for it if it were a two or so day thing,  maybe not longer than that depending on the deals.

*checks*

Hmm, looks like I'll be going to a gallery show opening in Chicago on 10 July, so a visit after the official Mittens week would fit snugly for me, but I could most certainly go before if it is more convenient for everybody.

Hmm, the only thing that would make me want to rent the beachfront house over the mansion is the pool/entrance in front and being by the beach, though I 'm not sure if that is redundant or not.

The Mansion looks like it has much more more character to it (Beachfront hallways look like a museum :/) and definitely worthy of a BJ2 location.

Mansion has my vote :D
