Right. I checked further into those properties I suggested. Forget I said anything ;) they won't work.

After looking through a good deal of the spreasheet, I'm starting to gather that we have merely a handful of option. Quintaros' pick seems to be the best-suited for us, in both capacity and location. The property may not win any beauty pageants, but the inside looks quite good and there are plenty of facilities. I think it is worthy of Mittens.

Otherwise I have looked at two other promising cottages. Kennisis Lake and Moose Lake. Both are severely gorgeous and a bit cheaper than Montrose, but I have no idea where they are in Ontario :/. They both are on large[r] bodies of water have either a canoe or paddle boat with which scotch and I to get up to all sorts of shenanigans. I am a bit worried that the owners won't be happy with going over the 16 person, but who knows, a few more people can sleep on the floor by the looks of it. While one would expect that a North American Mittens this time around may get to 30 people, I personally doubt it and expect it to top out at around the lower 20s again. You never know though.

That place is definitely kind of ugly.  Maybe we can look around for other options?

Sure, there is plenty of time. Don't forget to check for villas. I've seen a few nice ones...

These look alright, but only sleep ten, though I imagine that to consider bed sleeping only.

Hostels can be rented by private groups as well for an entire week, maybe we could consider that? Something out-of-the-way perhaps. I'll look into this more when I get home.

yay, Niagra Falls is a whole 4 hours drive for me :P This would be the least expensive AGS outing for me yet. I am going.

As for dates, well August 4-11 (Saturday to Saturday) are booked, but the remainder of the month and July are untouched. I am fine with anything after Brittens but before September.

Since people tend to book these things way in advance, does anyone else agree that we should establish a fund for deposits, even before we set dates? That way we can reserve as soon as the timeline is known.

I think they are making a zombie adventure with the lassie engine. I could be wrong.

Correct, they are co-producing Nearly Departed with designer John Green.

I should try these other Pinhead Games, I've heard a lot about them, just never got around to it. It's interesting using Flash in school for animation, and hearing about games being made with it. I would never have imagined it.

The restaurant/Brewery(<--yay) I work in stopped selling some of the items with spinach, but changed the others. Spinach is good on a pizza. Popeye eats spinach. I am sad :( The E. Coli ppl should quit bitching.

I've just noticed Spinach looks weird, how it's spelt.

I brought up the use of the letter "t" as a past-tense suffix with my Composition professor, which she said was a leftover from the 1700's and its use should be abolished. She is old and British so you should pay attention.

Out at a pub with some friends

D.I.L.F.

(You're welcome)

I thought it'd be fun to wear a Féileadh mór to this red carpet shindig. It proved quite a wise choice.

I think Magintz and Petteri's boat was named Princess Peach, which is only fair since the "going down" thing was Gary's idea for a future edition of his webcomic. Our boat should be posthumously renamed to Princess Toadstool (which still applies), and is the name I grew up with. Curse you N64!

EDIT: PHOTOS!!1

We buy our boats and supplies prior to our historic journey which will be fabled in story and song

Magintz and Petteri can't keep up

A little closer, but because our lust for adventure, we must leave them behind :'(

YAY

Cool!

fuck

This is about as close as we made it to the island

At least we have a nice story out of this misadventure. Perhaps we can buy another boat during Brittens or Mittens next year and try again. We are the Lewis and Clark of the two-thousands  :D.

Disco is the best person to be with when you're in trouble.

Aw, schucks  ;D

Hey hey hey kids are alright. At Sporrans, Alba played dress up and acted out a story improvised by SSH, his wife is very nice and made completely vegetarian dinners both nights I was there, and we even managed to go out crawling for pubs twice. It was the true essence of fun  :D The family atmosphere is nothing to discount right away, though I guess it isn't for everyone.

Next year it's your turn Nikolas :P

Communication...crossed wires...yes that seems right.

Now that I think of it, most of the bad things I recall from Mittens and in this thread (i.e.-hurt feelings, seperations) were because of communication problems.

I hesitate speaking of this as it's a bit embarrasing, and was going to leave it for a PM,Ã,  but now that I know I'm not alone I feel alright talking about it. Like Helm, I also often experience a near catatonia-inducing (well, for me at least :P) depression, which sadly just happened to hit the night before Mittens began. Because of this, there were times where I felt quite hurt or offended by non-drunk people standing right next to me (not vica-versa), though I conjure most was due to misunderstandings. Also, the fact that I am a North American who is not used to "taking the piss out of each other" for fun didn't help either. I feel I must apologise to every Mittener for the times I left the group to wander on my own at night, feeling disconnected from everyone, and to the 4-5 people I lied to when they asked me what was wrong. I'm sorry for that, I just didn't want to cause anyone to worry. It wasn't you it was me (Wow, that really is true sometimes...thank you George Custanza).

As for the person to person problems, it's hard to tell if any of it was real or imagined or that things weren't as bad as I saw them, but I sometimes worried that I was falling out with people or perhaps that someone didn't like me or something. Anyways, I left Mittens acting cheery for everyone, but really feeling awful because I just wanted to resolve things one on one with those I felt I had problems with. However, In the few days ince I've been home, I realise that there probably wasn't such a problem in the first place, it is just likely just communication.

I'm confident that after everyone speaking their minds this year, we'll get along that much better next year. Sorry if this makes little sense, I'm just pouring out my thoughts on a dificult topic.

Still looking forward to Canada,
Kenneth

I'd have to say Disco's voice acting was pretty impressive, he owned that character.

Yay! I have fans, I'm famous!

Seriously, thanks, though I owe it in part to Grundislav pushing me to record lines with a sore throat :P nah, he told me to wait until I was better, but I thought I'd use my illness to an advantage.

I'm downloading it now, hope this stolen wifi connection holds up.

I can agree that Mittens might have been a little bit more interesting had there been less emphasis on drinking, but what can be done about it? I mean, all that really happened to me was a couple people made some critical comments about me whilst drunk, some of my things were kicked halfway across a site, and I was called a c**t. At least we weren't just sitting in the dark doing nothing.

I really don't want to make it a big deal about it because I love you guys, we had fun, and I already forgive the offenders for this, but can you see how people might be reluctant to spend $1062 (not being specific or anything) to cross the Atlantic (again, not specific) to spend time with consenting adults who had a bit too much to drink?

Also, sorry to Adamski, as he didn't spend that much money to get his posh sunglasses stepped on :'(

And Disco's just over the other side of Lake Huron... :)

SSH is correct.

I'm in Mid-Michigan but I'm about an hour from Ontario. I could drive to Toronto in 4 hours, but I'll probably just take a bus or train or plane or handcar or skateboard instead.

Heya Duders,

I am safe at home now, effective yesterday morning, or whichever one was the 25th. However, I came home to a disconnected internet and crazy phone billÃ,  :'( Perhaps tomorrow or Monday when it is reinstated I can post a bit more (can't now since I am at a wi-fi), and when I'm not sleeping at insane hours. I woke up happily at 4 this morning, which should never happen. Mittens was lots of fun and I already miss everyone. I have loads of photos and stories from Brittens and Mittens and Magintz and I's simpatico trot through Paris and Barcelona. Check back later!

thankies Hero!

Hopefully I can get around to making them fit web posting soon.

eh, forgot about this topic.

Brittens was a fantastic time, though I found AGA's mother's bed to be a bit uncomfortable. It may be beds in general, since I am used to sleeping on a couch. Magintz's brother's bed, SSH's guest bed, and beds at 5 hostels (so far) have caused my back to ache  :'(.

I will always remember the crime sprees, Killinator and Momo, the views from the mountains, and lectures by spleen. Oh yes, and I also tried out my Prince of Persia moves a few times, and was even yelled at to stop by the coordinator.
http://www.lumpcity.co.uk/~disco/100_0389.MOV

Highlights were exposing my semi-naked, ketchup and hay covered body to AGA's boss, and the vegetable spring rolls at Ko Tong Villa :9

Lowlights were the amount of thorns on Tony's mountain and in Wales in general, and Yickle's early departure.

Photos will probably have to wait until Monday, if I can use Magintz's computer to prepare a few. The whole lot will likely have to wait until I get home. JEEZ! I'M SORRY!!1 get over it  >:(

We're going to a water park

Whoohoo! though swimming trunks are one of the things I forgot to pack, I have some other shorts that will work just as fine.

A quick idea, would anyone be up for seeing a bull fight if they still do them?

No, never.

I have brought a Serenity DVD, which is serious as it is like me giving my own arm up for a prize. I will buy another copy for myself the day I arrive home, no doubt :P.

I don't know what a duffel is, but I like the sound of it, so - cool!

Do you have a constant access to the net, Disco? We should arrange a meeting place & time soon, and leave phone contact (SMS, expensive for us abroad) for emergency...

I do not have regular access to the internet until the 1st of August. I am currently on the Isle of Skye in Scotland for the next two nights (Yay! \o/). My duffel bag is about the same size as a normal backpack, but is carried rather than worn.

So Magintz is the fifth wheel? :P There is still one more spot I believe.
#580
Yay, that could be fun and there would still be the attraction of independent travel to enjoy. If you don't mind I have a backpack and a (I guess) medium-sized duffel. I probably have the most luggage of the Mitteners as well, besides perhaps Magintz, as I am 6 1/2 weeks away from home.
