General Discussion / Re: Call for writers

Hmm, sounds like it can be fun. I write for Adventure Europe, which normally involes 2+ pages review of a commercial game. Perhaps I would enjoy doing some smaller blurbs for this online magazine.

I suppose there is no formal staff? Just review and submit?

'Ello,

If you want didgeridoo sounds or music for your game, or perhaps did not know you wanted them until just now, I would be honored to provide them for you.

A short sample is listenable here (92kb).

I haven't studied my pitches in a while, but I have been told by a guitar virtuoso that my didgeridoo is in the key of D (if that matters to you :P).

I have not bought any AGS or other indie games...yet. Purchasing the Special Edition versions of 5DAS and 7DAS is somewhere on my calendar, and I have every intention of buying Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine the day that comes out. Speaking of the latter, I believe I would be more inclined to buy an indie game from a person or team that have previously made exceptional titles, as is the case with Himalaya Studios. Whenever there is money involved, there is an issue of trust. Someone releasing a commercial game whom I've never heard of, registered last week and made four posts in GiP, would definitely not get any of my cash even if the demo was good.

As far as adoption, I'm open to it, while it saddens me a bit to be giving up my first child to someone I don't even know (especially if it's a little girl...).  But I really don't think she would be willing to part with it in any way.  She seems standoffish about the idea.

My younger and extremely unemployed sister gave her baby up for adoption. Honestly it was the best thing she could ever do for him (He is now in the care of a doctor and nurse in their 40s-50s) Though it hurt her much, she knew she did right by him.

And, not meaning to be cruel or mean or anything, but if she does decide to go ahead and have the baby and keep it, you might also consider taking a paternity test for your own peace of mind to be "sure" that you're really the father... sorry if that sounds bad.

Ooh  :o, I would say do that only if there is any doubt you are the father (and from the sounds of it there is none) and not for any other reason. Imagine asking her to do that now of all times , with everything she must be dealing with.

Christmas isn't Christmas without some of the aformentioned mainstays like "a Charlie Brown Christmas", "Garfield Christmas Special", and "Frosty the Snowman"...but I would like to add "a Diva's Christmas", starring Vanessa Williams in a pop-diva turned modern day Scrooge story :D. Too excellent for words.

I have found Red Dwarf to be fantastically funny. It began in the is late 80's though :/ and is a long-running series.

General Discussion / Re: Good morning
Mon 05/12/2005 18:30:30
Hmm, having no obligations today, this is how my morning went:

7:00- woke up to some people-getting-ready-to-leave noises, promptly fell back asleep
9:10- woke to use the restroom, went to sleep again afterward
10:15- woke for real this time, layed there for about 20 minutes
10:35- read an Angel comic
10:45- ate a veggie burger with some orange juice
10:50- on computer
11:59- Heineken
1:30- clicking "post" and leaving for a raucus night on the town

Oh, and..

The way to work is 1/3 hills going up, 1/3 hills going down and 1/3 something in between.

That "something in between" wouldn't happen to be level ground, would it? :P

General Discussion / Re: X-Men 3
Mon 05/12/2005 18:16:04
It is rumoured that the plot may involve a storyline from Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men comic series, where a geneticist formulates a cure for the mutant gene.

I am excited (but a tad nervous) that the movie is still getting a May '06 release after all the trouble signing a director and finalising a script.

That is just plain wrong Geoffkhan, I had almost forgotten about that. Thanks :P

P.S. - I would also like a proper eucalyptus didgeridoo. This bamboo one is getting old fast.

Happy birthday Mr. Quarter Century :D. Yes now it is more practical to think in terms of centuries, or fractions thereof (Ooh, the controversy :P).

Happy birthday Chris!

Questions are asked in semi-realtime via forums, not in advance. Simply pose any question you like by starting a thread during the developer's timeblock and they will answer it (or maybe not if it goes too far, they want to keep SOME surprises ;)).

I neglected to mention that while the list above is confirmed, we are still negotiating with a few more studios to be present.

On November 21(Monday) and 22(Tuesday), Adventure Europe will be hosting a developers chat in the style of last year's Inventory Birthday Party, where adventure developers meet and chat with fans in our forums. That event was a hit, many studios made special announcements or displayed new screenshots. I expect this year's event to be quite the same.

The confirmed roster is as follows:

Pendulo Studios (Runaway)
Step Creative Group (Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, Alice's Journey)
White Birds Production (Lost Paradise)
Deck 13 (Ankh)
Kheops Studio (Return to Mysterious Island, Voyage)
Totem Games
Himalaya Studios (Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine)
AGDInteractive (King's Quest 1+2 and Quest for Glory 2 VGA remakes)
Herculean Effort (Apprentice series, the Find)
Nucleosys (Scratches)
Fusionshpere Systems (Secret Files: Tunguska)
Lullaby Studios (Hidden Rooms)
Faraway Studios (Until I'm Gone)
Anaconda Games
4Reign Studios (Dilemma)
Frogwares (Around the World in 80 Days, Sherlock Holmes games)
Revistronic (Three Skulls of the Toltecs, Wanted!, Fennimore Fillmore's Revenge)
Micro Application (Nancy Drew games (publisher))
Legacy Interactive (Law and Order: Criminal Intent)
Telltale Games (Bone series, Sam and Max 2, CSI 3)

Each developer will have a two-hour timeblock announced a few days before the event. We encourage those interested in participating in this event to register with our forums.

Yeah, I promise next time they will be in time order. I was in such dismay that I did not bother with any commentary.  :'(
