General Discussion / Re:What are you reading?

Paradise lost - Milton; it's the most beautiful poem I've read yet (it's a good 300 pages long...)

I too quite like southpark now, it went from cartman getting a satellite anal probe to making fun of the latest things; Underage sex, Pokemon and Iraq being some examples I've seen so far (I don't have comedy channel or SBS so I can't watch it anymore)

And Homer went from "In theory Communism works" and "(god) is my favourite fictional character" <--- two of my favourite quotes
to "No (wink) I don't wanna see your crappy science project (Wink) But it sure as hell beats eating this crappy breakfast (Wink wink)"<-- That was the funniest segment and one of the only quotes in the show, the rest was Homer screaming and carrying on about his thumb

(After a Troy Mclure movie)

Bart: Wow! I really like God! I never knew he was so in your face
Homer: Yes... he's my favourite fictional character...

------

(After being sprayed) "Mmmm... incapacitating"

------

Homer: AWWW! Eight seconds! But I want it now
Homer: three, two, one, BING!

------

Marge: Try these rice squares, they're only thiry five calories
Homer eats
Homer: Hello?! Taste!! Where are you?
Marge: You can put a topping on if you want
(Attention goes to someone else for the scene, and at the end Homer stands up with every food imaginable on the square)
Homer: And only thirty five calories...

General Discussion / Re:what's your nickname?
Thu 01/05/2003 14:05:04
The story of my seemingly innocent nickname is fraught with death/blood and pain (and bunnies surprisingly...).

long/pg rated story aside... I wrote a book, main dude's name was Dmitri, the name stuck...

looks pretty darn nifty to me mate

but on the right, I've never seen a tree smash it's roots through solid rock, maybe extend the roots off screen so that it appears the tree has grown with the rock underneath it.

Other than that I can't really pick anything up

General Discussion / Re:I HATE my dad
Mon 21/04/2003 14:55:46
Hate is a very powerful word to use Jimi, and I don't like the way it's mis used, I know I'm guilty of throwing hate around, it's just that our culture can't seem to distinguish between hate and anger.

I think anyone here can prove that you don't HATE your father, it would only take one measly little example to disprove it. Our pathetic language should have a better word for the meaning you want, with the power of emotion but without pure and simple inexplicable odium (hate in general, specifically that which is projected to a group), but it doesn't.

As for the problem you think your having with your father 'not getting you interested in things', well, what do you expect of him? What do you want him to do? Like you he will only do that which interests him, unless he's forced in order to make someone else happy. Maybe he wants you to take an interest in what he's doing... Maybe he likes your music and doesn't know how to encourage you properly because he hasn't had enough quality time with you. Do something with your dad man, get to know the man better and you might get along better.

personally the only reason I have a good relationship with my father is because we're both interested in the same things... which was simply circumstance (and genetics). He gets me interested in things because he's interested and I like him as a person, not just a dad, so I'm willing to try the things he suggests.

aah so very good...

I dunno, one of those hind legs looks a little out of proportion though... it's probably just me...

hey, err, I'd like to add to that advice Hollister man gave about "Let them know if you're romantically interested," ONLY let them know if they aren't otherwise dating or in love with someone else... it'll cause them severe heartache if you do...

I shouldn't have to say that, but love makes people do stupid things...

Most advertised game: Ace quest...

I dont particularly like it when it's integrated into a sentence

It's alright when someone just says it in response to a witty comment without any commentary.

* Dmitri is walking in the park one sunny afternoon

* Dmitri sees a bird

I just HAVE to sketch that

* Dmitri rips an easle out of his pocket and sets it up at lightning speed then he holds his hands high and screams "BY THE POWER OF PENS!!" and magic pens fly into his hand... taking a nearby tree he uses his magic powers to turn it into a canvas, attaches it to the easle, makes a dot with his magic pen ans says... "My work here is done..."

General Discussion / Re:Finally. An AGS dream!
Thu 17/04/2003 11:03:16
I had a dream involving this forum once... I was a soldier in a war and my unit went and captured a little bunker, inside an abandoned helicopter was a little teddy bear which I took.

Anyway, then I flew home in a helicopter and went into my wife and gave my son the teddy bear. And suddenly this naked dude comes out and I realise my wife's been cheating on me... at this point I have a flashback to a time on the forums when I announced I was getting married and you guys all said horrible things about "Myst_Cat" I think her name was... things along the lines of 'slut' etc.

So I kicked the guy out and went off to war again, I got shot a few times but I was invincible... then I realised that we didn't have any real guns, and I wasn't in a war (although I WAS dreaming) I was playing laser force... then things started getting just plain weird...

heh, while I was reading Mandarb's post I was reminded of another girl I once 'went out with'.... if you can call it that...

Basically, it was the end of year seven, there was a big party as per norm, and all of a sudden one of my firends comes up to me and says "Are you going out with Sammy?" (That's Samantha, not Samuel).
"No, not as far as I know..."
"She says you are..."
"I am?"
"Yup."

Then, one hour passed...

"Are you going out with Sammy?"
"Yup, I guess I am..."
"She says you're not..."
"Oh,"
"Yup..."

Yup... that one was a heart breaker... the first time I was ever dumped...

*sniff* I've never gotten over it...
* Dmitri cries...

the next g/f I had lasted about an hour and a day before she dumped me in much the same fashion...

THIS is my definition of 'over before it starts' if I ever manage to keep a gf for two weeks, hell, I'll be thinking about holy bloody matrimony before she manages to get her sight/hearing back!!
