Well, your 3d graphic card doesn't support pixel shader 1.4, without that, D3D won't run - atleast AGS won't. Seems that your card is a little outdated then.

He, thanks for the quick reply. I think the way this issue is handled makes a lot of sense. :=

Let's see what Akatosh says, though.

One question I've always had and didn't find answered yet - neither in this thread nor on the official MAGS website - is: how much of an actual adventure must a MAGS entry be?

Like, if a game worked similar to Yahtzee's 1213 series, would this qualify? Especially with these innovative rules this month, projects that leave the traditional point-and-click genre might come up.

So, I guess I'm asking, does a MAGS entry have to be strictly an adventure, can it be a combination of - say jump'n'run or shoot'em'up - with adventure or is maybe even a non-adventure game made in AGS fine?

Okay, I don't want to keep everybody else waiting any longer - and if I really wanted to add more to this little entry, I'd probably have to spent a lot more time on it. So here we go, it's not unfinished, but it isn't finished either.

128x128 with 32 colors...

I hope the shape is close enough - as you can see I went with the tiles approach (which is a lot more realistical in my opinion and experience, when working on a mobile-game) and I found it to be very hard to realize, I probably should have done as everybody else and sticked to simply coloring the given outline. But maybe doing it this way is worth of a few extra points in your books, Krishmuc... ;)

I'm working on something, please don't close this early! :) Or maybe even consider a small deadline-extension?

dkh: I really like those pics mate. Wish I could take my piano and go out to play :p

Heh, yep, I noticed taking your instrument out into the environment can really give great inspiration at times. The place you are playing at can really change your mood and mind - musically, I guess that's mostly noticeable when composing or improvising. Thanks!

Also ildu, can't you just set your computer clock to August 21 and play?

If they went all the way to add in that security-check in the first place, I somehow doubt that works. It probably connects to a company-owned server and checks the date from there.

I once drew one for the fun of it. Here's my take on it, it's really a lot smaller though. Hope it helps...

First, I wasn't so impressed, but it really grew on my. Very nice!

I added you and stole your contact-picture. :D Let me know if you drew it yourself and don't want it on my page or anything!

Ha, mods, I was just about to post the same. :) Loving it!

Fire up AGS and load the game. Answer's right in-front of you. Check the music-settings.

Also, for the programmer, this part of the manual might be interesting:

Quote from: RTFM!SetGameOption
SetGameOption (option, int value)

Changes one of the game options, originally set in the AGS Editor Game Settings pane.
OPTION specifies which option to change, and VALUE is its new value. Valid OPTIONs are listed below:

Option  Values
...
OPT_CROSSFADEMUSIC  Crossfade music tracks (0=no, 1=slow, 2=slowish, 3=medium, 4=fast)
...

Switch it on before that scene and off again afterwards if you want.

EDIT: Kinda puzzled why you want to mix three files though. Do you consider voice-speech as third? If so, that doesn't have anything to do with the music... Hope this helps...

General Discussion / Re: Windows Vista SUCKS

Really, disable Aero and make it look classic.

This will safe a lot of performance, especially if your graphics-card is not very efficient.

Vista is not really slower than XP, it just comes with a lot more stuff to run by default.

Mike Portnoy has it, makes him work wonders when it comes to music. :P

If you're programming in Genesis3D, you might as well write your own engine in OpenGL/Direct3D and c++, there's not much more trouble in that and it gives you (1) even more control and (2) the experience how to write your own games in a proper, industrial way, not with any kind of game-creation tool (who knows, you might like it and become a real programmer for a living).

What's the problem? Create two images, similar, but not the same, in a paint-program, put them into AGS, create hotspots on the right picture where you have those differences and then code the rest of the program (what happens when a user finds and clicks such a difference / maybe let AGS draw a circle around the difference etc).

Creating an algorithm to do that automatically for you is incredibly hard to impossible to program and even in the best case, heavily time-intense. Just do it by hand.

Don't wanna start a fight here, but:

, incoherent,
2."incoherent," well this is a typo but i don't mind it just it's a bit ironic that you talk bout spelling errors and then you make one

"incoherent" is correct (at least that's what Firefox spell-check says).

1.You don't have to read just you can read it

This is in fact ironic, because that's yet another sentence coming from you that doesn't seem to make sense in the slightest.

Sorry, nobody cares about a few typos around here, it's just, sometimes we have to guess what you're trying to say and that is annoying, time-intensive and unnecessary. Either try to take a few seconds more after writing a post, re-read it, check whether the words make sense to other people than you, then post or reconsider spending time on an English-speaking community.

This is all off-topic though, badly, so I say we stop this discussion now or take it to another, more appropriate thread.

Hmm... There are German expressions for that, but most are well understood in its original English form (like omg or lol) - at least on the internet. But on YouTube for example (probably one of the worst places when it comes to friendly behavior via text comments), German clips and discussions underneath them quickly become similar spam- and hatefests to the English/American ones, not much difference from my experience, possibly a tiny little bit, but not a lot at all is what I'd say.
