Stream is back on, 'show' will start in 8 minutes at 3:00 PM CET. Come watch a slightly hung-over AGS guy work more on his MAGS game!

Thanks for watching! It was a lot of work (over 8 hours of streaming with about 40 minutes of break total!) but we got the first room, the player character and a first draft for a walk animation done! Oh, and the puzzles/plot for the entire game. It's going better than expected!

I will very likely be back tomorrow as I said at the end of the stream!

I'm about to go live with the second day. Looking to expand on the ideas of the first day, make sure to tune in! I'll probably be streaming for about 10 hours, from 2:00 PM to midnight CET!

Thank you all for watching! Those first six hours were a lot of fun and I think in the end we came up with a pretty interesting and cool concept so far!

I do share the Paint.NET loving, as I said on stream, it's an outstanding freeware paint tool, the best I've ever seen. And yes, still the return thing after every line is annoying, not sure if there's something that can be done about that.

Thanks for the idea, Tabata, that's a good idea. So far, we haven't thought about what the message/package/whatever actually is, but I like the idea of it being a message instead of something really obvious, like money, drugs or what have you.

So, the idea is I will turn on the stream whenever I work on the game this month. Definitely tomorrow, and then, while maybe not every day, certainly almost every day, it's MAGS after all. I\ll make a post in this thread to let you girls and guys know that I'm on, so you can catch it if you want! If you want to make your voice heard and interact on stream, go ahead and use this thread or the stream chat (which requires free registration on twitch.tv however). See you tomorrow!

Thanks all, back now!

I decided to document my work on my MAGS (march) game this month. Make yourself known in the stream chat for audience interaction!! :)

Please check out twitch.tv/nihilstarcraft if you want to take a look at my progress or just watch a fellow game maker work! Chances are I'll be on and streaming, if not, you can check the videos I already streamed!

Should be plenty of fun!

I'm kinda interested to find out if this is something people are interested in seeing/watching. I fully expect to have 0 viewers most of the times, but who cares.

I will try my best to get a game done. Additionally, I will stream whenever I work on it! Make yourself known in the stream chat for audience interaction!! :)

I watched it live and I honestly couldn't care less about the sharing/live-streaming/mobile-connection or even the kinect gimmicks. I want a powerful gaming console for the core gamers. As far as the presentations went, Watch Dogs did indeed look really awesome, can't wait for that, the rest I didn't like that much.

Legally, if you upload your game for free without a note saying you don't allow re-distribution, you can't come back and complain about that happening.

Ethically, it's a bit of a gray area, although when it comes to free games, I think the benefits of having more people know and play your game outweigh the issue that the sites themselves might make a small amount of money because of advertisement money. After all, if you upload your build to a third-party hoster, most of them have ads too. If you upload a trailer to Youtube, they get money from that (assuming you don't have a partnership yourself).

This is very subjective, of course, but I have found that I personally tend to get more and more impatient the more the game allows me to skip walking/running. With a game that has a decent character movement speed and where I know I just need to wait a couple of seconds to move from A to B, it's okay. But when I know I can double-click to teleport/run (or similar), that will actually result in me losing my patience more, rushing everywhere.

I know for a fact that not everybody reacts this way so take this for what it's worth.

HA!  You got them BOTH wrong!  That's the beauty of these riddles.  They lead you in one direction, but the answers are in a totally different one.

Hm, well the problem with your beautiful riddles is that they're ambiguous. My answers, despite being extremely obvious, are 100% correct. They fit the conditions of the question. It's just a matter of "HAHA I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY". That, in my humble opinion, does not make a riddle 'good'. Quite the opposite. :p

1. A man does it standing up, a woman does it sitting down, a dog does it on three legs.

Spoiler
Sometimes, when I feel particularly sophisticated, I sit down too...

And I guess the same answer goes for the second riddle, too? Except, you know, number 2.

You say video games are, by definition, solely made for commercial reasons. That's not true. There are a lot of free games out there (*gasp* AGS games for example). Those clearly are video games made without commercial intent. The rest of your argument is based on this fallacy.

Thanks MurrayL!

Scavenger, I agree about every point you make there and I'd personally all for going with that route, the problem here is that I know the rest of the Pixel Hunt people are much more into a spontaneous, chaotic Let's Play style, while you are thinking of a planned out, almost scripted and very educational style. I will definitely bring that point up next week, when we'll have another band meeting, but I don't think they'll be very supportive of changing our style that way. I personally also prefer education to chaotic random though, so I can absolutely see where you're coming from.

Thanks for the feedback, it took you guys a while and a reminder but it's all good! :)

No downer at all, that's good criticism, thank you! I'll make sure to bring it up to the rest of the gang next week.

I have to say, sometimes I'm a bit disappointed at the apathy of the community these days. Even though it's just a 15 minute video, I know it took Noa a LOT of work to sound-balance, sync and edit the video together. I know we're not great entertainers or anything, but I really thought we'd get more than a SINGLE response (by someone not affiliated with the band or Radiant as the game author). When you put hard work into producing AGS community content like that, especially when stuff like this (ie. group let's plays) has, to the best of my knowledge, not been done before, you just expect a tiny bit of feedback. If we were really unfunny I don't mind at all, but post and let us know. If you thought it was 'okayish', tell us that. We are deciding whether or not to continue this based on the feedback we're getting.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow Actually my favorite Castlevania title, I even preferred it to Symphony of the Night on PS1, even though most people wouldn't agree. Excellent platformer/action RPG mix.

Hi AGSers!
Remember us?
We're Pixel Hunt, the band that should have recorded songs but instead we started recording Let's play videos because it's fun! Yaaaaay!

The first game in the series will be a game by Radiant: Errand.
It is the winner of the Monthly AGS competition of October 2012 with the theme: This is bullshit! It can be downloaded right here!

[embed=720,576]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ELTexvnwak[/embed]

Just a reminder as to who exactly we are again:

dkh - Our producer of Gründlichkeit and a very lousy German accent (funny fact: did you know dkh actually stands for 'door knob handle'? Wow, isn't it amazing?)
NoaVana - Our amazing vocalist and occasional kazoo magician
Wyz - Our fabulous keyboardist and elevator music provider (funny fact: did you know Wyz actually stands for weird yellow zoo? Wow, isn't it wonderful?)
Snake - His solos are so moving and striking it made his mic leave in shame (no really, he doesn't have a microphone right now).
Dualnames - No further introduction needed, he's an AGS superstar! When he's not fulfilling his army duties (we miss you!) he'd be whacking his strings for us (that's what she said).

We're looking for games to play next, if you have a brilliant idea of a short game we should check out because it's quirky, funny or silly, let us know! Likewise, if you have any suggestions or comments, go ahead and shoot!

As I alluded to on IRC, there's a chance I will show up as well. I'm a student and I will need to get confirmation on exam dates before tho (and that'll only be foreseeable in the next couple of months), so I guess I'm a maybe!
