Haha fair enough! As I said, it's dumb to try and actually judge someone from a video like this - I just felt the complete opposite as Oldschool_Wolf about him from that video, that's why I posted! If his team members love him, then that's the best testament in the world.

Tim strikes me as someone who would be fun to work with; I like his personality.

Honestly, and I'm pretty sure this is controversial to some, I don't think I agree. He's sorta funny (although not particularly in my opinion, he seems to force it a bit) and, most importantly, he seems to be really hard to interact with (ironically). He doesn't even pay attention to what the interviewer/other person says half the time. I know this is not exactly a normal situation and I'm not going to judge him based on that bit of gameplay alone but I can't say that this video made me think: "What a cool boss to have", quite the opposite!

Holy crap, he is SERIOUSLY rusty haha. Nice find!

Hmm okay so that is pretty affordable assuming we're ~10 people. As in, really cheap actually, even for the big house. Cool!
#45
That sounds pretty awesome but very large haha. How expensive are these (I suck at navigating Dutch websites)?

Some of them look really good I think. What about this one (it looks like it's secluded enough so we can be loud :p) http://www.vakantieboerderijgroningen.nl/

This one also looks nice, but is it separated apartements or one big hourse with individual bedrooms? http://www.scharrelhof.nl/fotos

Now where's janosbiro when you need him? I'm sure he could unravel this mystery with his enormous powers of 'phylosophy'!

Works much better! There is a problem, however, when I start jumping off of the slope, I can't double jump.

EDIT: Also, I don't like how much the movement controls are weakened while mid-air personally. I prefer it when you can turn around while jumping just like you could on the ground.

Gave it a try, runs nicely but I personally don't like the physics yet. These things are hard to describe and tricky to get right but here's my two cents:

  • I don't mind being able to wall-climb by repeatedly jumping against it, of course your level design needs to take into account that this is possible but it can work well (see Super Meat Boy).
  • I think the running top speed is too high for the resolution.
  • There seems to be acceleration in the game (which I feel is too low, it should be faster to reach top speed) but there doesn't appear to be any deceleration, which feels weird. When you run one direction and turn around, that's instant in your game, it should not be. Display a 'turn-around frame' while the player is still sliding the old way but already holding down the new direction key.
  • Jumping... is okay, but could indeed be a bit faster as bicilotti says.
  • If you're turning this into a game, I highly suggest to implement some additional cool moves, be it double jumps, dashes, slides, anything fun you can think of! :)

Link appears broken!

Yeah, game page is down. Looking forward to giving it a try though!

Would love to join but I just don't have ANY time at the moment whatsoever!

Hey guess what mine is: Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttt

Nice work, should help a lot of people out, especially those interested in making an RPG with AGS! Also, that is the best 8x8px stickman sprite and walkcycle I've ever seen! :)

I'm pretty sure I wasn't studying Computer Science right now to become a professional game programmer if it wasn't for AGS. Back in the day I only had a couple of books on C++ and I wasn't really getting anywhere with it (I was ~14 years old which didn't help either) and then I found AGS and this community. It's crazy to think that this program and the fact that I found it on google one night has caused me to study what I study - which will, in turn, forever shape my life and earn me my money one day, it'll be my career.

Just tried it out, it's pretty cool (at first I thought it was just the old and well-known 'reduce colors to an indexed palette' trick) but that guy sucks at explaining haha. Took me half an hour to set it up and get it right even with a lot of Photoshop experience!

The obvious issue with it is that you can really only draw in one color gradient. If you want to change to a completely different hue, you gotta make a new ramp with setup for it.

I remember a Command&Conquer clone or something which BLEW my mind when I found out he had made it but I can't remember the name!

About climbing up in the last level: it's hard but can be done. You definitely need the shield though, as it's ALMOST impossible without (only did it once myself). With shield you are bound to lose that early but using the invincibility time it gives you afterwards can secure you the rest of the way up. Additional tiles could be loaded from outside the game for sure! Enemies would be much harder because you'd need some sort of file/script format to define their behavior.

Awesome work, selmiak. Quite a challenge I'd say, but not as extreme as some of the other user-made levels! I almost got the first level on my first try but died right in front of the open door haha. Good ideas too! Thanks!
