...a man in a black trench coat hiding behind his mugo-mugo bush.

"What the-? Get out of there!" John pulled the man out by his collar. "What are you doing hiding behind my decorative Japanese shrubbery?"

"I am a servant of the GE. I was sent here to destroy you!"

"Well, you're doing a sucky job of it."

The man in black reached into his pocket and pulled out his own rubber chicken, which was, strangely enough, painted black.  He held it by it's legs, as if it were a sword.

"EN GARDE!" he yelled.

Oh, I thought of another one.  There's a flea market- yes, a FLEA MARKET- that regularly has ads on my parents' radio station.  In this terrifying Ugarte/Alvin and the Chipmunks voice, the flea market's mascot "Dr. Flea" talks to some lady named Sophia. He claims he has "UN-BEE-LEE-VABLE BARGAINS!" and that we should "COME, LIGHT UP my BRAIN!" What does that even mean?  And he says it over and over again at least four times in a thirty second spot!

But that's not all.. noooo they made a SEQUEL to it!
-Where are you going honey?
-To the Cambridge Flea market!  It's where I got that sexy skirt you like
-Is that the one with the ads for Dr. Flea? Are you going to be like that sexy Sophia and LIGHT UP his BRAIN?
-Oh, you!

Glee! He's very cute.  I like the shorter body, but as said previously it does make him look more like a child.

However, I'm not too sure about the hair in the walking animation.  The movements of his arms and legs are very fluid, but his hair is stiff.  Maybe changing the curve of it as it moves would look a bit better. Yeah, it's more work but I think it would be worth it.

The thread rises from the dead!!!! Ooooo...

More background style experimentation.  Since I'm experimenting on the same room, I thought it best to just reuse this old thread.

The experiment in this version is an attempt at more cinematic backgrounds, using different angles rather than the straight on, full body shots that pervade AGs.

For this to work, I'm actually drawing the characters as static images as part of the background.  They don't move. There might be some slight animations, such as blinking eyes or tapping feet,  but there is no walking around the room.

Would you be able to play a game like this?  Would the stillness drive you nuts, or would you not notice?  Also, comments on the actual art would as always be appreciated.

Changes from last time-
-closer to the piano, cutting down the big blank ceiling
-improved string quartet photo
-people
-evened out colours on the wall

RTF: But... the SPONGMONKEYS!!!1!!onehundredeleven!!! I heart the spongmonkeys in any shape or form, whether they are liking the moon or the subs.

There's one Subway ad that I hate with a burning passion, however.  There's a middle aged man, dressed up in a blonde wig and a cheerleader outfit, dancing around and washing his car to strains of "Oh Micky You're So Fine".  His wife comes out of the house and stares at him.  His response "It's okay, Honey! I had Subway today!"

W. T. F.

Also, stupid "have you been injured? We will get you money!"

Those ads are illegal in Canada, but we get them from US stations.

Ooo... shiny.

Excellent job as usual, Dimi.

HEEEEEELP!

Spoiler

I have the kids, the bear, and the contortionist, the comedian and the wizard, as well as the circus itself.

I have the wolf head, the colouring book, the deed and the fishing rod.

Um... now what? Sooooo stuck.

Oh bother. Never mind I solved it myself.

For all time favourite appliance, I'd have to go one up on Mr. Remo with...

THE ELECTRIC GRATER!!!!

This is not the kind I have.  Mine is cooler, because it is made from CHEAP PLASTIC.

It grates cheese! And slices cheese! And crumbs bread! And grinds meat and nuts! And it keeps me from shredding my knuckles on a regular grater! I love it dearly.

I can't stand it when you need to wait for something to randomly appear.  The whale in KQ4 is the one that I dispise the most.  I spent weeks- literally WEEKS- swimming back and forth across the ocean in that game, and I only saw the Whale ONCE! And then I was so excited I mashed all the arrow keys and crashed the game. Eeeeeevil.

It's all in the "offer your services" sticky at the top of this forum.

Well, we do have the tutoring icon now.  Maybe just a sticky in the beginners saying "Ask the people with the tutor icon for help!" rather than a new list.

In English (yup. Good old English) You occasionally come across the acute accent on the letter e: é.

This doesn't appear in upper case letters, since we stole it from the French.

While we're at it, here's the French ones in no particular order:

ç / Ç
ê
î
è
â
ù
û
à
ô
é
In French you don't put accents on uppercase letters, except for Ç.

Yes, these are all in my signature, but I can elaborate here.
- Believe it or not, I LOVE proof reading.  My mom is a professional writer, and I've been proofreading and editing her work for the past three years.  I'm also an English major with a shelf-load of style manuals- if I don't know how something should be written, I can always look it up.

- I don't have much experience with playtesting (read: none) but I think it would be something I'd be good at. That and I'd have an excuse to play more games.

-I'm a bit more picky about story design than I am about the other two.  I'm not going to help you write your game, I've got my own writing projects.  I will, however, help with plot problems and I'll look over game design documents for plot holes.  I'm annoyingly good at finding those.

I can be contacted either by PM or e-mail at dragonrose_1 at yahoo dot com. Take that, spam bots!

After being a horrible puritan in highschool, I've only just started to relax about other people doing drugs.  I don't do them myself, however- I can't even drink.  One jello shooter, which has about a mililitre of vodka in it, gets me drunk enough to start doing pretend newscasts as "Olga Hoordenfloorden" from "Grade Three News" about my friends "making the smoochy face under the monkey bars."  What does this mean? I don't know.  But my friend has it on video, and I wasn't quite drunk enough to forget it, so it must be true.

Other people, however, can do quite a bit without coming to any harm.  They don't lose control, but just become happy and relaxed.  More power to them.  As long as they can give it up, do what makes you feel good.

I'm at the end of my first of four years of University, working my way towards a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre & Film. Roughly translated, this means I'll be spending the next three years up to my ass in Shakespeare.

Until Friday at three in the morning I work security in my residence, keeping out the drunk people who don't live here.  Then it will be summer, and I'll (hopefully!) be working as a cast member at the local Rennaisance festival- where I'll spend the next four months up to my ass in Shakespeare.

I love this style of brain teaser, where you have to figure out a riddle based on a series of conditions.  I managed to do this one when I was in grade six or seven, I can't remember.

I went with my instinct and assumed it meant the immediate left and luckily that was right.

This statement made me giggle. Left is right! Yay for paradoxes!

Hey Dan, long time no see.

This was a joke APRIL FOOLS! HA HA HA! You can publicly release games with old versions, new versions, blah de blah blah.  Nothing has changed.
#478
Or you could make all your icons into one image, then label it with text. See below.

Hee hee... I love the half-a-bee song!

Yufster- Luna sounds really interesting! I can't wait to play it!  Though I'm having a lot of trouble seeing why Vel thought it was a GF clone.

The tutorial was cool, if a bit short.  Good job as usual, Vel.
