Is it Cool Runnings?

Good luck with the fundraising, LGM.

But how do you measure 10% of the game? If you have all the graphics done but no programming, which counts for more?

I like the idea of having a full description of the game.  If you can fully your premise, talk about the characters, and maybe the interface, you probably have a good idea of where you're going.

However, I think we might have to be a bit more strict about remakes. If you're making a remake, maybe you should have to show something more than if you're making an original game.  Outlining the plot, characters etc. of Police Quest 1 (one of the few games I don't think anyone's offered to remake) doesn't really show that you've done any work at all on your supposed PQ1VGA progect.  Maybe they should have to show screenshots or something... I don't know.

DG: Is that the site that said Pirates of the Carribean was sinful because it had "slappings?"

Back to the original site... I can't even think of how to describe this.  I've learned SOOOO much! Did you know, for example, that if you go to one of those parking lot window-chip repair booths, you might be coerced into joining a cult?  No more window chip repair booths for me!  And the American flag... well!

QuoteThe current Flag of the United States of America (for the benefit of non-Americans and poorly educated Public School graduates). While beautiful, an ignorant foreigner might mistakenly suspect we were Astrologists or some sort of Stripe Fetishists instead of proper Christians.

Yes.. I'll be (snicker) on the look out for those... (tee hee!)stripe fetishists..(giggle)...

This can't POSSIBLY be serious. That would just be too weird.

My hoard:
-a chance to hang out with my cousins and sister, all of us together for once. (Yay!)
-Chicago DVD (watched it twice already)
-Large selection of make-up (purple eye-shadow is fun!)
-hoodie cardigan
-moneymoneymoney (spent on an imported magazine and a cheapy copy of Grim Fandango)
-chocolate and microwave popcorn (my Dad didn't realize these were Christmas presents, though, and told me about them in advance. Whoopsy!)
-a Thing 2 doll (my sister got Thing 1)

Good stuff.

Hmmm... is it a problem that I fit into at least eleven of those classifications?

No need for scripting.  It can all be done in the interactions editor.

-make the door a hotspot,
-go to the interactions menu for that hotspot
-under "use inventory on hotspot" make a "conditional-if inventory item was used" event
-change the inventory item number to the one you have for the key
-change the "do nothing" event to "character-move character"
-make an event right after that using "player-go to a different room or "player-go to a different room (at specific co-ordinates)"
-select the room and (if applicable) the co-odinates you want your character to show up in
-Ta da!

btw, to make my own contribution to the forums, if anyone is looking for extremely good artwork (both professional and not) then check out www.elfwood.com
the site has over 80000 paintings, drawings, etc. AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE USE and personally they make kick-ass backgrounds for your game. ok, I'm done with my rant now, and thanks ahead for any help.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. You are NOT allowed to use art from Elfwood without permission of the artist. Taken from the botom of my own gallery main page:

QuoteAll works shown are property of their respective artists or writers. No rights or permissions are granted for display of these works on other web sites, webchats or in other forms. THIS IS NOT FREE "CLIPART"! Please contact Christine E. McLeod for details on using the content on this page.(Please do not email the Elfwood Administrators, they can't give you permission!) - Finally, please, read the legal information for more copyright details.

Just so you don't get into copyright trouble.

I just saw it. I got out of the theatre only about an hour ago, and I can't remember a lot of the second half. Because I was STUPID and bought a large pop, and drank most of it during the previews.  Three and a half hours and no intermission? AAAAAARGH!!!

I'm another one of those ones who didn't like the books. I zoomed through them because my Dad claimed it would take me three months to read them (took me six days, and I won a $10 bet!).  But because I read them so fast, I don't remember a lot.

Parts I forgot:
Spoiler
The ghost army
The steward of Gondor lighting himself on fire
Samwise getting married.
[close]

As for the rest... wow. Just... wow.

The being known as my sister is getting Pirates of the Carribean on DVD. However, because I enjoy being sadistic about her Christmas presents, she has to follow a treasure map to find it.

My parents are getting a coupon to have their old vinyl albums burned onto these babies. Please note that they are not actually babies. They are CD's.

WanderLady: Roses are ALWAYS good presents.

Whoa! She doesn't have eyelids!

Um.. huh? Not quite sure what you're talking about here.  If you're talking about how she has large dark areas for her eyes, that's because she wears very heavy eye makeup. It shows up better in larger pictures, like the talking head.

If you want to build a 3D game, there's the 3D Adventure Studio.
(The link was on the AGS links page ;D)

These people are working on building a 3D adventure game engine. It's just in alpha right now though.

#636
Yeah, well you're also not green and are lacking in breasts. Any other complaints, Mr. Picky-guy?

Really nice anim btw, seems rotoscoped (ment as a compliment).

And I take it as such. Thanks! :-*

Can I actually use that in my game?

Foolish
Brutish
Churlish
Ignorant
Barbaric
Uneducated
Thick-witted
Uncultured
Cro-Magnon

And, even though it's a noun, Philistine!

This game looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Can't wait!

Fear the Dragonrose sprite! I tried to copy the style that Evil and Scummbuddy have used.

Yeah, I'm not in any of the scripts. Oh well.

I found this over at the JA forums:

QuoteTIERRA ENTERTAINMENT BECOMES AGD INTERACTIVE

Anonymous Location, December 2003--In a surprise announcement early this morning, the Anonymous Game Developers unveiled a new website and a new name for their production banner that has seen the release of two extraordinarily successful remakes of classic Sierra titles, King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown and King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones.

The new name AGD Interactive, or AGDI for short, was chosen in order to better express the purposes of the Anonymous Game Developers. The AGDs never wanted recognition for themselves, they never wanted monetary compensation for the long hours of hard work they put into their games - they wanted the games to speak for themselves, to show that adventure games must not be forgotten and could still be popular.

"The original name the Anonymous Game Developers chose, Tierra, was obviously a play on Sierra," AGDI Webmaster Relight commented on the change. "It was a respectful way of giving tribute to Sierra, but it was also a bit of a gimmick. The AGDs no longer need such references to gain publicity, so a new name was an inevitable step to better reflect the character and mission of their efforts. The AGD acronym by now is extremely well known, so adding the 'Interactive' to it to create a new acronym, AGDI, was a natural choice. The name AGDI reinforces the priorities of the AGDs - to release games anonymously so that the focus is entirely on the games. And the addition of 'Interactive' highlights the original nature of the adventure genre - puzzle-solving instead of violent action."

The AGDI team is currently working full-speed on their remake production of Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire. AGDI's new home, AGDInteractive.com, will launch early next week.

I just thought people might like to know.
