Thank you muchly!

The one that Jannar posted is the theme from the (excellently done) miniseries "The Chronicles of Narnia."

As for Minimi's: I think that would make a very good theme for Aslan.  It sounds sort of mysterious and ancient.  It just needs to be a bit longer

Here's my attempt. I didn't do the cadences because I'm lazy, but it sounds quite nice looped. And you'll have to go save as.

Kings Quest 8? I believe the topic was adventure games Dragonrose.

I'm not quite sure whether you're joking or not. Either way, zing!

Another big annoyance of mine is overuse of random stuff.  I'm thinking like in the Kings Quest games where monsters randomly appear and you have no way to prepare.  I think the only one where there wasn't random death was KQ6.  Wizards in 1, 2 and 3; sharks in the water in 4; scorpions in the desert of 5, and the Boogy man in 7.  Also random things that you NEED to appear to finish the game.  Like the whale in KQ4, or that fuzzy brown thing that I can't remember what it's called in the Black Cauldron... Roberta Williams seemed to have a bit of a hang up on randomness.

Final annoyance, then I'm going to stop posting in this thread. Un-obvious visual clues.  In KQ7, if the "stick that looks like a snake" was pointing down, you could get into the Boogyman's house. If it was pointing up, you should run away.  The problem is, a snake looks like a squiggly line. So does a branch.  Which of the dozens of branches on the screen looks like a snakey squiggle as opposed to a branchy squiggle?

General Discussion / Re:Advent Calendar

I got a little chocolate bell. And you know what? I'm going to be getting little chocolate bells the whole time.  Because my advent calendar consists of a bag of 25 little chocolate bells.  If I can manage to not eat them all in one day... that will be a challenge.

I vote GhostGR. Boyd's made me giggle, but GhostGR's made me laugh.

Sudden endings with loose ends: Kings Quest 8. Torins Passage. What the heck happened here?  There is nothing left to do so... we'll end the game right now! We'll leave Connor stranded in that funky Temple! We'll ignore the fact that Torin supposedly fell in love and is supposed to be King! We'll just end. Boom. Done. Cut and Print.

General Discussion / Re:Down With Skirts!
Fri 28/11/2003 23:37:28
It's rediculous when girls are forced to wear skirts. I agree on everysingle point you made, Yufster.  Skirts are cold, a hastle to clean, and they're generally awkward.  Good lord, the thought of going out in a skirt in the winter has got to be the most horrific image I can think of.  There are certain place I don't EVER want to get frostbite, thank you very much, and short skirts tend to expose those places far too often!

I am, of course, talking about my knees.

Out of curiosity, is there some insane logic behind girls' school uniform skirts being rediculously short?

I've got no problem with school uniforms.  Just make them COMFORTABLE for god's sake! Most of the schools around here have choices- you can wear a blazer or a sweater, which you don't even have to wear except for assemblies; several styles of shirt; goofy tam or no goofy tam; any kind of socks you want. But girls still have to wear the stupid plaid kilt.  (Does being in a private school automatically make you Scottish or something?)

As for the "You don't see boys asking to wear skirts," most of the guys I know would LOVE to wear kilts.  Then they'd run around yelling "FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!" and "You luuk lak a bebe!" at the top of their lungs.

EDIT: OTG- skirt vs. pants is not about fashion, it's about COMFORT.

Critics' Lounge / Re:Tutorials

I managed to find some tutorials for writing at
http://teenwriting.about.com/cs/gamefiction/

It's not all tutorials though. There's a link to Josh Roberts' design journals on AdventureGamers and one to AGS itself. Nifty!

Bad Timing: Very catchy.  It sounds sort of like "creeping around with a flashlight" music.

By The Sword: I agree with Darth. Definitly pump music.  But about 20 seconds where it goes to just the flute or whatever, it seems to just be dead.  It needs another instrument- either counterpoint or a continuation of the drums.

Perils of Poom: Why am I reminded of Stan? It sounds like the salesman is a bit of a hustler.

Darth: Appologies in advance.  If you have the musical ability of a fish, AT LEAST YOU CAN DO SCALES!!!

Ooooo... I didn't realize that you had to paste it into something.

My desktop background from when I was on a shared computer back at home.  I got used to the setup and am too lazy to make it less egotistical.

Awww... I luvs Dizzy! And AGA is right- he is quite the googly-eyed dog. I hope he found a good home.

GhostGR: yours made me laugh out loud. Mainly because that's what happened to my sisters and my two fish- Freida and Fennel.

Eggie: I'm fairly certain there is something wrong with your brain in a most humourous and entertaining manner.

Al: Dangit! I was going to do something with puggle. Fooey.

Me me me!

It's a force-shield! Oooooo...

How do you take screen shots?  I want to play too!
#675
Got it! Thanks Shbaz!  The last one works really well. With a bit of lyrical tweaking, I think I can make the other ones work as well. Yay!
#676
Yes I do want them!  Thanks so much, shbaz!

Here is your car

Chicago666: Thanks for the offer, but you sort of sounded like you didn't really want to.  You still get a car though.
#677
Too bad the ACR thread dissapeared, because I'm in need of assistance.

For my game Bard's Blood, I need four songs written- two ballads and two... I can't think of how else to describe them other than "angry chick rock." Think Bif Naked or Fefe Dobson.  I have the lyrics all written, but unfortunatly the things I know about writing the music I can count on the fingers of one foot.

Whoever wants to give a stab at trying to write the music will get:
A) undying gratitude!
B) credit as composer for the game!
C) exchange of work- I can write/edit dialog, do historical/mythological research, or do some minimal character art.
D) A NEW CAR!!!!*

The lyrics are here.  There's only three songs there, because I need two versions of the last one- a slow and a fast one.  The songs should be arranged for one or two guitars, electric bass, a soprano vocal line and drums.

Thanks bunches!

*note: may not be a real car. May in fact be a picture of a car. No substitutions, exchanges or refunds. Discression is advised- the management.

It was a poll on the webpage.  I think Evanwolf won, but I'm not sure.

I also was hoping for an avatar category.   :-[

It was the butterfly in the lush forest with a dragon!

Who says I can't use a dragon as a weapon?
