i think it would be even more cool if we had only only 3 ways of view front side left and right(smthn like my avatar),

But your avatar is Alf! How is that a three way view?

I'll see if I can get some pictures of me. I'm not sure if I've got a side view at all.

Dave:

QuoteAssassination Adventure Games Award is a award we give to the best homemade adventure game in the world (Only games made with the engine AGS).

From the about page.

If I understand correctly (based on the trophies for each month), this is more of a monthly thing, as opposed to the annual AGS awards.  But I don't think enough games get released in a month to make for any really heavy duty competition.

It's a good idea; it's just that it's so good it's already been done.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only "unexpected death" in KQ1 was pushing the rock from the wrong direction.

What about the randomly appearing ogres, witches, wizards and other nasty things that just pop out of nowhere? I think those were fairly unexpected! The stupid frickin' dwarf wasn't a death as such, but he was still pretty dang annoying.

I did however enjoy KQ1VGA. I never got to play the original, because I never found it on it's own and it was rather silly to buy a King's Quest Collectors pack just for one game when I already have all the others.  (Actually ended up having four copies of Kings Quest 2, though. Weird, that.)  It was nice to finally go through that quest.  As long as I avoided that dang dwarf... stupid dwarf...

Oh, I didn't realize there was that much of a difference between the dialogue scripts and regular scripts.  As I said I'm not much of a scripter. But thanks for the info about your plugin!

Ontario must be 1337 since you live there!

No, remixor.  Ontario is 1337 because I live here!

For a long time, I didn't have an avatar because I wanted one of a dragon and I couldn't find one.  So I got a picture of me, messed around with colour balances and filters, and boom!

Sorry guys, I'm not really a red head.

I found some notes I made about it, though not the actual thread.  It involved printing messages to a text file whenever the PC performed an action.  This wasn't just for text, but more of a log for every action.  I tend to use the interaction editor for most things, so I don't know much about scripting, but this was what was figured out

In pidgin script:

LOOK at DOOR
displaymessage "You don't know where that door leads."
print to file "George looked nervously at the door. He had no idea where it lead."

USE DOOR
movecharacter to room 2
print to file "George opened the door and moved on to room 2."

The displayed message or interaction has nothing to do with what actually appears in the file.  They're two seperate things according to the script, they just happen at the same time.

Bonus of being able to have more descriptions, making it more like a novel than just a straight log.  Minus of having to write everything out twice.  Hope that's helpful to anyone trying to make the plug-in.

Okay, the episode starts off with terranRICH walking around blind drunk throughout a city (don't know which yet).

Reality on the Norm!!!!11!!

I'd like to be in it.  I don't that you'd ever need a dragon, but if you do I'm there!

Lets see... even with the pre-1960's, you're eliminating a lot of my favourites. Roman Holiday and Sabrina are the only two that come to mind. Yeah, I'm a sucker for Audrey Hepburn.  I haven't seen all of it, but I also enjoyed the original version of Phantom of the Opera.

This was discussed a while ago. I tried to find the post because I think someone figured out how to do it, but it seems the topic has been eaten by cyberspace :-(

Since I can't remember how this was done, I'd also really like to see this plugin, if any of you clever coders out there would like to make one *flutters eyelashes*

Aww... I'd sort of like to enter (I like writing plots) but I've had experience with being a project leader, and I do NOT want to EVER do that again.  Eeeeevil.

Yay! I love the Chronicles of Narnia! It looks like it's going to be a pretty coold game. I'm just curious about how it's going to be only twelve rooms and six characters.  I guess you're doing just a little bit of the story.

One picky thing: Professor Kirke wasn't any relation to the Pevensie children.  During WWII, children were shipped out of London to just about anywhere considered to be "the country," regardless of whether they knew the people they were being sent to or not.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone heard about this?

In Canada, you can only get a degree from a University, and then a diploma from a College.  If you've got the diploma, it in only gives you a few equivalency credits at university, but you aren't guaranteed to go to university.

You get a bachelors if you take a three year course of study, and a bachelors with honours if you take four years.  Neither one is more intensive than the others.

I absolutly HATE it when there's no response at all when I click on something.  This drove me NUTS in P:DA.   It was my first non-Sierra graphic adventure (you always remember your first! *sniff!*) I ended up spending more time clicking on things when there's no message, because I'll think I've just missed it. I spent abot five minutes in the bathroom trying to look at the faucet or something.

If it's just a wide expanse and you can't think of anything to write about it, put in a general room description.  This is what they usually did in Sierra games, and it's the main reason why if you click anywhere you'll get some sort of message.  Avoid this if you're doing the @MOUSEOVERHOTSPOT@ thingy though.

If the hotspot is for something that isn't a clue- like your No Dogs sign, Gemmalah- go for it. A great thing about non-essential hotspot messages is that they really fill out the game.   For example, say you're looking at your main character's bedroom.  There's a bookshelf, a wall calendar, and a CD player.  None of these things influence the storyline.  If you look at them and learn that the bookshelf is full of Anne Rice novels, the wall calendar has photos from the 12 Greatest Horror Movies Of All Time and the CD player is loaded with a bootleg Marilyn Manson recording, you get one character.  If the bookshelf is groaning with Harlequin Romances, the calendar has photos of teenage movie stars and the CD player is playing Britany Speers, you have a totally different character.  But you wouldn't be able to see the differences from the background.

Behold! For Jesus Chris is surrounded by a glowing nimbus of holy light!

Or maybe the film is just over exposed.  I'll leave that to the philosiphers.

I saw this last night with my sister and her boyfriend.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to go,  (I was kind of worried about the amount of violence I heard was in it) but I wanted to get out of the house.

I am SO happy I saw it!  Yeah, the violence is like in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, except more so.  On the way back we were all saying "It's just a flesh wound! It's just a flesh wound!"

However, until the end of the first knife fight the sound kept cutting in and out.  Someone up at the front of the theatre went and complained, so they fixed the sound.  Better yet, we all got free movie passes! Woo hoo!

HAAALOOOOOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!

CANDY!

COSTUMES!

SUGAR RUSH!!!!!!!!!

I'm the exact opposite of Minimi. I loooooove Halloween!  So far this year I've already had four costumes- The HumaniNinja (for a faculty dress up thing), dead student (for a haunted house) Medeival Lady (quick costume for residence trick or treating) and Scottish Lady(just for wearing around school today).  I even had a sexy super-hero costume planned for going clubbing this evening, but unfortunatly the eyelets for lacing up the tights started popping out  :(

So I vote for don't lock the topic!  Let the Halloweeny joy flow!

Wow.  You just made what I did look all no-how.  And pianoless.  But there are more fish, so it's all good  ;D

How did you do the wood effect on the floor, PureGhostGR?  That was the only thing I didn't paint over in mine- I just blurred it.  How did you do it?
