I think it's neat how this keeps popping up. It's at LEAST the fourth time it's been announced in this forum.

I was planning on just relaxing this weekend, maybe starting to study for exams. I handed in my last essays this past week, so I thought everything was smooth sailing.

Instead, I'm going to be hunched over a sewing machine all weekend, because the SOB that was supposed to be sewing costumes for my show decided to quit on Thursday after saying he hadn't even STARTED making the costumes. And we open on Wednesday. ARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!

I shall also be gorging on chocolate, and having egg salad sandwiches for lunch. Yummy.

I've never played adventures with a kid, but I've been the kid that had grown-ups play adventures with her.  I don't think I've ever been so proud as when we were playing KQ5, and I was the one who figured out right off the bat how to defeat the wolves. I even learned my left from my right by playing adventures with other people.  When I got to control the game (not often) my sister or my parents would tell me which way to go- up, down, left or right. I had to learn left and right or they wouldn't let me control the game.

Good times, good times.

General Discussion / Re: Anyone seen "Saw"?

I've got a friend who...saw it (Ba-dum CHING!) several days ago and he's still really freaked out from it.

Since this is the guy we call "Doom," the guy who redubbed Texas Chainsaw Massacre for a Multi-media project, the guy who normally actually LAUGHS at horror movies, I find this impressive.

Tanker: It's not exactly dead- it's just that it really hasn't caught on. People go on, realize there's no one there, and then leave. So there's even more no one there.

It's the 20th! And the winner is.....

Eggie! Good for you!

Machinama is usually images from an already created game, like Halo, with unrelated speech dubbed over it. It's similar to screenshot comics.  Because you'd actually be creating everything from scratch, I don't think you can put it in that category.

For absolutely no reason I can think of I'm associating it with Down in the Boondocks by Kenny Loggins. Maybe it's because occassionally there's a similar chord progression, or said progression is inverted, but that's the only reason I can think of.

Other than that, I haven't a clue.

They contacted you over MSN? Sketchy. Very sketchy. Couldn't they have at least e-mailed you so there's some sort of record? Don't agree to a thing until you have something in hard copy.

This happened with KQVII as well- only more so, in my opinion. Some of the cutscenes where they show characters close up are almost frightening, they're so badly drawn.

And even weirder was that these boring and unengaging sprites were billed as "beautiful."

All right, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! It's the battle of guys-with-five-letter-long-names-that-begin-with-E! And the crowd goes wild!

Regarding picture number three, I just have to say... yay dragon!  :-*

I really like the highlights on the most recent pic, especially on the face and hand. I'm not quite as keen on the sketchy green lines around the lapels. It's kind of unclear as to what they're supposed to be.

Oh, and the second most recent pic- should that be reminding me of H. P. Lovecraft's deep ones, or am I a just huge freaking nerd?

Actually, Randy would. People who have previously been boggled at reviews have requested to write new versions, but they want to show a single "JA+ score." Which would make sense if they had a stricter review policy in the first place, but their reviews are just so divergent
And Vel: Why do you hate the Inventory?

It's an amazing peice of work. Just a few nitpicks about matching up with the previously released ROTHS screenshots:

1: The gradient in the sky for previous screenshots isn't as smooth as the one you've used. The screenshots aren't as blended. Also, there has been a bit of extra colour, a darker orange, on the sun itself, instead of the plain circle you used..

2: For the cliff face it's the other way around. The shading is a bit smoother in the screenshots. You matched the style really closely on the distant hills, it could just be a bit smoother on the one in the foreground.

These are teeny tiny nitpicks. The actual linework is fantastic, and your use of colour is dead on. If I didn't know that it was different artists I might not even have noticed those things. Awesome work.

That's cause we all know we won't.  :'(

We don't have "spring" break. We have "Oh god this winter is never going to end get me out of here" break, also known as reading week.  It's in the middle of February, and quite litterally was put into effect to lower the suicide rate among University students.  I spent it getting costumes and props for my play,  doing homework, and inventing this thing I like to call "sleep." It might have been around before, but I don't remember it. Yay me.

Hmmm... that's a very good point, Snarky. I was thinking more along the lines of the "makes games but puts in no effort and has probably forgotten they made a game" crowd rather than the "Makes games but isn't active on the boards" crowd.
