Or vice versa.  I really like the black outlines better than the coloured outlines.  It's probably just the comic book junky in me, though.

Also, the colours of Mr. Wizard are much more vibrant than in the background.  So, yeah... they don't really go together.  They're both good, they just don't fit.

Yikes. I haven't even had a chance to download the last version, and he's already working on a new one!  Looks good!

Due to the fact that I am a lazy lazy person, Candace Grace has gone Run Hot. Booooo....

GG, you post some really neat topics.

I always have the same "philosiphy."

Death, yes, if it's painfully obvious that the character will die.

Walking deaths, no, they are the tool of evil demons.

Points, yes, as long as there is stuff you can miss and still complete the game.

Repeting puzzles... hmm, tricky.  I hated the keys on the car thing in Pleurghburg.  But I like it when the you learn that doing one thing gets a reaction, and doing it in a different context will make the same thing happen.  Like in GK1 when you switch on the fan to make the snake run away because of the thumping sounds.

I try to keep in mind that I'm the only one that knows how the story is going to end, so I'm the only one that knows exactly what is going to come next.  Ergo, if I want to be able to complete the game, the story has to flow logically.

I think that it's important that the questions require you to at least have lurked a little bit, and at least to have read the "IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE POSTING" threads.  Otherwise, what's the point of having the test?

The big one looks quite surprised to be eating the little one.  Maybe the little one had a death wish, and jumped inside the big one's mouth?

And in case you couldn't tell by the name and fire breathing avatar.. I ares likes teh dragons!

I like the shading on this, but yeah, it does look like "kid show dragons."

I think that in GK1 there were indeed too many "interaction" options.  As GG said, if you interact with a door, you're probably going to open or close it.  If you interact with a book, you're going to read it. But the same could be said for the SCUMM interface.  Do you really need a push and a pull, an open and a close etc., etc?  Other than that, I thought it was great.  I'm using a modified version of it in my game, where there is walk, talk, look (identifies an object) inspect (gives other sensory details about it- it's colour, what it smells like, what emotions it gives the PC) take and interact, as well as inventory and spells.

I also like the idea of being able to interact with the player character.  In KQ1VGA, they were kind of stuck with having to click the bowl on Graham because there was no way to type in "say Fill!" and they were trying to keep it as close to the original as possible.  But there were lots of times when interacting with the character works really well.  In KQ5, you have to make sure Graham eats the ham and wears the cloak, so you click them on him.  In KQ6, the invisible ink puzzle and when Alexandre dresses up as a maid required the player to interact with the player character.  It also opens up the door to some interesting humour, like in the QG games when you click a dagger on yourself, or a rock, or a lockpick (my personal favourite).

There is a vast difference between a pick-up line and a compliment.  A pick up line is :
"Are you tired? Because you've been running through my mind all day."
"Are those moon-pants? Because your ass is out of this world."
"I'm no cashier, but you've got two items I'd like to check out."

Pick up lines are prepared before hand to impress members of the opposite sex with your supposed intelligence.

A compliment, however, is usually a bit more spur of the moment; it's an observation that will make the person you're talking to feel good.
"That's a lovely outfit."
"You're a good dancer."
"I like your hair colour- green suits you!"

Okay, maybe not that last one.  In conclusion, compliments=good, pick-up lines= bad.

And Andail- What were girls doing in the men's room, or do I want to know?

Woohoo! Another excuse to post THIS!

As for specifics:

Helm, for being one of the first people I ever talked to on IRC and he thought I was a guy
Flippy, for being a funny guy
Pesty, for being a nifty pirate and for liking Tom Holt books
Gilbot, for telling me how to use scripting stuff
Rode, Unilin, Jayel and Froboz for being Canadian

I'm sure there's more, but I'm hungry right now and I don't think well when I'm hungry.

I saw it last night, and I have to admit that I thought it was quite good. Yeah, the sex/rave scene and the exploding vagina were unneccessary, but the rest of the movie I thought was pretty good.  I thought the CG was well done (don't hurt me!), I thought the lots of Smiths fight scene was cool, and I had a good time.

I ESPECIALLY had a good time coming out of the theatre where there was a line of people waiting to get in.  My sister and I were yelling 'spoilers' at eachother.

"What? Agent Smith is Neo's father? What?"

"Wait... I'm confused.  So Neo and Trinity are really brother and sister?"

"I loved that bit where Morpheus died and became more powerful than we could ever imagine."

Messing with people's minds is fun!

In his spare time, the man known only as Phillip Reed (which is his name) splices together pigeons and rats to creat pigeon rats, and Guitars and men to create guitarmen.  Stop him, before the madness spreads!

The facial features seem a bit far down on the head.

A little edit, I hope you don't mind. I just moved the eyes and lips a bit further up.  You did a fantastic job on the shading, though, which I can't do for shit.  Good job.

"No. Wait, let me think about it.... No!"
This must be said in my absolute sweetest voice.

"Just for your information, I rock."

"France!" Or, if I'm feeling really weird, "Mars!"
In response to "where is it/he/she?"

General Discussion / Re:your best jokes!

This was on the joke thread on the old board, but it remains funny and you will laugh or I shall eat you.

A man joined the army during WWII and was going to go to war.  He was sent out to the front, but somehow or other they forgot to give him a gun. So he ran up to his commanding officer, begging for a weapon.

The commander handed him a broom. "Whenever you see the enemy, point it at them and yell 'BANGITY-BANG!'"

"Er... okay." said the soldier.  "But I don't have a bayonet!"

The commanding officer taped a straw to the end of the broom. "Whenever you see the enemy, point it at them and yell 'STABITY-STAB!'"

"Er... okay..." said the soldier, and he went off into battle.

Well, what do you know, but he gets seperated from his platoon.  He was about to call for help, when he sees a German soldier coming towards him.  Not knowing what else to do, he points the broom at him and yells "BANGITY-BANG!"

The german soldier falls down dead.

So the recruit is very pleased with this development. More Nazis come towards him. "BANGITY-BANG! STABITY-STAB! BANGITY BANG!" Down they go!

Soon he has a whole regiment after him!  "BANGITY-BANG! STABITY-STAB! BANGITY BANG!" Finally there is only one German soldier left standing. The recruit points his broom.

"Bang." he says, confidently.

Nothing happens. The German soldier starts walking towards him, muttering.

"Bangity-bang?"

Nothing.  The German continues to advance.

"BANGITY-BANG! STABITY-STAB! BANGITY BANG!"

The German soldier runs him flat into the ground, squishing him to death.

All the while muttering, in German "Tankity-tankity-tankity-tankity..."

General Discussion / Re:What are you reading?
Wed 07/05/2003 02:20:49
In school I'm reading "Tale of Two Cities", and I recently finished reading "Count of Monte Cristo" and "Les Miserables".  Not caring much for Tale of Two Cities, but the other two were wonderful.

For fun, I recently read "Flying Dutch" and "Faust Among Equals" by Tom Holt.  I'm not even slightly exagerating when I say these books got me laughing out loud. In public. Which was embarassing.  I'm talking belly laughs, here.

Pesty: Ooo! Xanth! The Xanth books are what really got me hooked on British Fantasy (yeah, I know Piers Anthony lives in the States, but he writes like a zany British writer).  If you like his stuff, you HAVE to read Tom Holt.  He's my current fave.

Weeee! I'm getting an 81% in my top six OAC's, and I recently got excepted to a university (still waiting to hear back from a few others). I had to drop one course this semester, which was supposed to be stupid easy, but I was getting a seventy percent in. However, in the hardest non-math OAC, I'm getting 81%. Go figure.
