Lone Case 2: Scars

After the demise of the planet because of the nuclear blast, what was once pure is now dirty what was alive is now dead , what was blur is now clear , what was courage is now fear.

Dave Dell now , four years later after what happened on Lone Case: Locomotive Breath, finds himself in a camp , where a group of survivors have gathered in an effort to survive. The planet has become a wasteland, people believe that all this was plan of god, and since water has become so rare , there are wars to control it.

7 hours, have been given to Dave to give away his water supplies to a local criminal mind called Van McCoy. The only hope of the team of survivors is to travel to Palm Springs where rumour has it that it's the last human paradise. Will Dave find some way out of this situation?

umm what university are you going to? My primary school taught us binary (base 2) in grade 5. By high school we were doing binary arithmetic. And like said above, windows calculator can convert to binary and hexadecimal.

You learnt binary in Primary school?
I never learnt binary in all my years of education.  I did however play around with a BASIC binary converter on my Amstrad when I was about 10.

I know quantum system from kindergarden.

Not actually. Mostly DiscNoir. You have a film in mind?

I've played this game for quite some time now and while I was put off at first by the sloppy graphics and the TechDemo/placeholder-feel of the technical side, I have to admit that you did put quite some effort into the game.
I really like the animated cutscenes and there are some nice ideas like the interrogation interface and the notebook (although it's lacking a bit when it comes to execution).

But it's definitely necessary to polish things. The exit hotspots disable the WalkTo cursor, so reaching an exit is a tiresome struggle. Many reactions don't fit or even exist. Interacting something often makes the player go "That's not correct."

Plus,
Spoiler
I'm totally stuck. I know I have to go to the subway station, but I have yet to discover the exit or any other means of getting there.

By the way I forgot to read the first part of your reply.  :o

TechDemo/placeholder-feel : What is that supposed to mean. Can you please be more like specific?

And about the interactions , it would be a pain writing so many interaction messages, so I used the multi response module from SSH. And made 6 generic answers about every action and randomed them.

Ok, since Darth Mandarb was locking thread the other day, I noticed that there is no single topic of mine in all the forums except the completed games announcement sector that hasn't been locked or deleted or moved or all together, I'm only here (at the forums) since Christmas. And by watching the forums I've seen that i'm the only one whos acting like this(and Cyrus as well). So I think I should been given the title of the greatest Violator.

Guess I took the phrase "Rules are meant to be broken" way too seriously..
#7129
Wow. I love Mark Lovegrove. I mean I never thought I'd see my game posted in a magazine. Great idea Mods. You should really really make this like AGS pod quest was.

Something we all waited for.

Monkey I'd like to inform you that I tried to encrypt a video file and then decrypt it.
You said that there might be a slowdown while encrypting and decrypting, and it was. And a very big one. The file I made experiments with was a wmv size 45 kb and bit rate 105kb. So if this causes slowdowns imagine what a 1mb file would do. Anyway, if you want any help for betatesting this module trying to fix the slowdown in some way, feel free to PM me.
Thanks again.

I don't think so. Just the idea was good about it. I couldn't make all the ideas and hopes come true. So that is were I failed. I just hope that someone be seeing this effort of mine, will say ok I could make a program like this but way better. I know that you didn't wanted to sound so harsh, I just noticed it, no hard feelings.
#7132
Production has started. Finish this up and say it if you like it or not. By the way, I found a bug, and another one so I re-uploaded the file. The sequel since it's summer might be ready (if I don't go vacations to an island where there is no computer available) b the end of august. I will make an in production forum when I have some pictures ready.

THE GAME HAS BEEN RELEASED SO YOU CAN LOCK THIS

Cosmir...eh.. please be kinder. As i describe in my readme this project was stopped in the beginning since i realised that windows calculator is way better and it's on windows and not dos/full screen so you can copy the result and use it wherever you want. And I also realised that AGS has the potential but shouldn't be chosen to make this kind of programs.

I have never spoken to you, but your game is probably the best AGS game i've ever played, so i'll quote something from matrix:

"Welcome to the Real World..."

or if you prefer "Fasten up your seatbelt dorothy cause kansas is going bye bye."

STORY:
Dave Dell, once a glamorous detective, is now a dull and bland vision of himself, drinking himself out of his misery in The Swigging Bushman every night. With no friends, he travels to work every day with a scowl on his face and dark bags under his eyes.

Years ago, he put a man named O'Riley in jail. But this man has escaped. And this time he has a nuclear device on a train. Will he be stopped?
Or will the train reach it's location?

Game Features:
1)Runaway 2 like Control Method.
2)Notebook (Discworld Noir).

I'd like to thank Cyrus for helping me break all the forum rules(repeatedly).
SSH for his great modules, Multi response and Save game with screenshots.
Lazarus for FaceRight module.
Scorpiorus for Ags Snowrain plugin.
And of course Azure Wolf for helping me out with some dialogs.

This game is dedicated to Fleshtalker
" For one Day he may Return"

BUGS
-------
1)Object(0) bug. Fixed. Enhanced into the downloadable file.
2)Control method didn't allow using walk to mode while over hotspots and especially over change room hospots. Fixed. Enhanced into the downloadable file.

Control Method:
----Left Click:
runs interaction(if it's an arrow it will make Dave walk, if it's a magnifying glass it will examine, if it's a hand it will make Dave interact and if it's a cop hat it will make Dave talk.)
----Right Click:
If over something it will cycle through available modes.
If you have an item selected right clicking will return the mouse to walk mode
----Middle Click:
It will open up the inventory. You can also open the inventory by examining Dave.

Ok, this is an idea I had while I was taking a lesson at my university. We were talking about ways to count things and the teacher told us that the decimal system is used worldwide but there is another numberical system ,the ones that computers use. The one with ones and zeros. Also known as binary.

This is not a game. It's a program. So I'm straightening this out. The purpose of the program is to instantly give you a number of the decimal system to it's form at the binary system. I don't know if this program will end up being useful but you'll judge that.

It's sort of half finished but I thought, i should post this since i've done all i could with it. Please don't judge me by saying there's winodws calculator you know.

I just wanted to try something different.

*=Note about the screenshots: The actual program screenshots are less messy and so just take an idea with those images.

Ok, well, I've been making a game(LONE CASE) and I was wondering what control method should I be using. I tried CMI style but I didn't like it. So after playing runaway 2 I decided to make my game this style.(Not graphics , just GUI's)

Ok Well runaway 2 features the following:
1) There is a GUI label(@overhotspot@) which changes to look at hotspot or take ecc.
So i didn't bother making this since it's quite easy and besides I'm not looking for it in my game

2)When over a hotspot the player by right clicking can either look at it or interact with it.Over a character you can look at it or talk to.

3)The inventory opens through a y-pos GUI.
I didn't bother scripting this as well, since I choose to open the GUI using Middle Button.

The code is:
//mouse click//
if (button==LEFT) {
ProcessClick(mouse.x,mouse.y, mouse.Mode);
}
if (button==RIGHT) {
SelectNextMode();
player.ActiveInventory == null
}

//repeatedly execute//
if (GetLocationType(mouse.x,mouse.y) == eLocationHotspot) {
mouse.EnableMode(emodeWalkto);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeLookat);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeInteract);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeTalkto);
}
if (GetLocationType(mouse.x,mouse.y) == eLocationObject) {
mouse.EnableMode(emodeWalkto);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeLookat);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeInteract);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeTalkto);
}
if (GetLocationType(mouse.x,mouse.y) == eLocationCharacter) {
mouse.EnableMode(emodeWalkto);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeTalkto);
mouse.EnableMode(emodeLookat);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeInteract);

}
if (GetLocationType(mouse.x,mouse.y) == eLocationNothing) {
mouse.EnableMode(emodeWalkto);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeTalkto);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeInteract);
mouse.DisableMode(emodeLookat);
}

That's it as simple. If you want questions about setting up the inventory gui ask.
#7139
I'm having troubles with choosing the right control method. I decided to go for a similar to Runaway 2 style. I don't know though.
#7140
There is mone problem guys. I'm using CMI gui. So when I left click a counter starts and after some secs my GUI opens. :-*
I'll post the code so you can try in another way.
