Don't understand how people cultivate animals (chicken, pigs, lambs etc) and after a while they slaughter them with the same hands they have fed them with.  ??? :-[

I'll give you three good reasons:

Money, commerce and currency

You're going to regret not giving a length restriction. ;D
MWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

EDIT - maybe regret is too harsh a word. Perhaps "feel dismay" is more appropriate.

I personally am with the "assholes" on this one, in that I believe the ends justifies the means. Or, in this case, the ends, being the same for either, makes the means irrelevant.

The truly sad thing is, for those who buy free range products and think it makes a difference. It doesn't. For every one person who eats free range products, or goes out of their way to eat them, there is easily 50 people who don't. The problem lies in the fact that as long there is demand, there will be always supply. Regardless of consequence or reason.

I leave you with a quote from 'Rosecrantz and Guildenstern are Dead':
Quote"For all the compasses in the world there is only one direction, and time its only measure"

QuoteBug found in  Santa's Stolen Sleigh:

After completing the game, returning to the main menu and starting a new game I get:

In "room2.asc", line 8
Error: StartCutscene: already in a cutscene.

Bug sprayed with insect repellent in bedroom and died of loneliness.

Bug fixed.

Something to the effect of A guide to creating a game, or, at the very least, pointers.

QuoteAlso, your dad isn't a sociopath. I just brought this to my brother who is a psychiatrist and he confirmed that.

That is because the term 'sociopath' is not a diagnosis. It is a generalised statement referring to several symptoms that branch across several recognised mental disorders that are somewhat similiar (the disorders being similiar, that is).

MAGS Entry:

'Santa's Stolen Sleigh'

"Get to work, Detective." I have no more exposition about the game, because, well, the story really explains itself.

Great job Ivy, there's some brilliant advice in that that I'll take to heart.

I'm incredibly interested in this competition, however, I have already dedicated my time to the MAGS.

After MAGS is over, if there is another writing comp., I'll surely join it.

QuoteThere should be an unbelievably happy ending.

Can I take this as should, but not have to?

I found good website in terms of legislation:

http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/Home.aspx

And all I could find was stuff about "Carer premiums" and a whole bunch of regulations which do nothing more than serve to make it really specific about what it says.

Of course, I am by no means an attorney. I highly suggest you first get a doctor to tell you about how bad exactly her condition is (and if he knows, any relevant reasoning why her parents could (not would) prevent her from making the choice to come with you) (if you don't know already), then, with those specifics in hand, I then suggest you go to your attorney (or get one) and ask them for any relevant legislation that might allow the parents to overrule her own free choice.

Of course, this is all entirely dependant on the amount of time you have.

... I like it, you've got a lot of free reign for a diverse range of characters, you have a very defined environment and I like the idea of the point being not about scriptures or commentaries, but about faith. Plain and simple.

It sounds really good, I'd love to be a part of it.

Perhaps I shouldn't have jumped the gun, sorry, I got excited.

So, Dervish, what ideas are you actually looking for?, what direction are you intending on going with them? (I mean apart from a fun adventure game - I mean from a story perspective) and what ideas do you have already?

EDIT - sorry if I'm repeating anything anyone else has asked, but I want to get this thread back on-topic.

QuoteI just was looking for something that wouldn't be like those Nintendo Bible games like Noah's Ark and other tripe.

Then might I suggest a somewhat serious, yet twisted theological view on the scriptures.

For example (this is used purely for example) the Antichrist. It is written that apparently when the Antichrist walks the earth, he will turn all to his side, but 3 years into his reign, he will kill all of those without his mark and have complete control over those with it.

How about twisting it up, making the Antichrist a business that opens a theoretical physics test facility, his somewhat deluded, yet workable, ideas manage to unit the interest of all countries. They do not bow to him, but all show great faith in what he has to offer.
Then it happens. He believes he has discovered a genetic pattern in the manipulation of the human genome, he thinks he may be able to create super soldiers. He was wrong. After injecting himself with the genetic fluid, he changes into something else. His body ages and his heart stops, yet he remains alive.
He goes on a journey to discover what's wrong with him, seeking help from a variety of characters with different religious views. As he does so, he blacks out numerous times, and when he wakes up, they are all gone. He searches for the sudden lost people while discover more people, others. The world deteriorates as he searches for answers and eventually finds scattered resistances against an "unholy threat", they take him in, but then realise he is the cause of all of this. His confusion leads them to show compassion and they show him what he's done. Zombies, everywhere. Those who haven't been bitten die out, and those who do, are under some sort of demonic control. A resistance leader puts a gun to the Antichrist's head and the last words the Antichrist hears are from God's mouth. God tells him (something along the lines of) "Thank you, you have done your part, like Judas for my son.". The Antichrist looks up and the last thing he sees is a brilliant light, in the middle of which, the gates to heaven open.

Whew, all of that off the top of my head. Purely hypothetical that is.

QuoteSo if you're a fanatic christian, don't write the story.

I'm assuming this is pointed at me.
I promise you that I'm not a fanatic evangelist that is high-strung with desire to convert everybody in hearing/seeing/touching radius to Christianity.

Ok, your stories themselves are actually pretty good.
They retain interest with a dark and morbidly (sometimes hateful) perception.

However, I do have a few gripes with it:

First, your sentences in your first story have a very stilted fell to them throughout the first story where they could easily be made to flow much smoother. Normally I'd give a few examples of where it's stilted and where it can be remedied, but you seem to have mostly cleared it by the second story and have clearly grown as a writer between the two stories.

Secondly, although I can see the point your trying to make, I can only do so after reading your comment that "this story deals with x". I think the meaning of your stories can be made a little clearer, which I personally feel is hindered by (in the first story) profuse swearing and (in the second story) a lengthier story which would make me care more about the main character.

Other than that, they're two solid stories that have very intriguing storylines.
Keep us posted for the third.

I must admit that I'd be interested in helping with story and puzzle design.

Due to that fact that in adventure games people don't feel the need to stereotype (or, indeed, want to) characters then I think your idea will only work on a lower suggestive level to appeal to the subconscious.

By that I mean instead of such high levels of thought involved in your interpretations of the colours:

QuoteRed - good with people
Yellow - creative
Green - organized
Blue - good at abstract concepts

Use much more basic and emotional terms:

Red - Energetic/Excited
Yellow - Light/Happiness
Green - Life/Good
Blue - Sadness/Cool (as in not hot)
