If the cat's hissing, I think it should raise it's upper lip,  show more teeth, and maybe a bit of gums, like this:

A disproportionate amount of the longer ags games are serious (compared to short games): Uncertenty machine, pleurgburg, the KQ's, Bestowers of Eternity, etc
The fact that most AGS games are short is one of the reasons that there's so many comedies. It's hard to have a short game that develops characters and plot enough to be serious without being cheesy.  It's definately possible though (look at Mourir en Mer...)
I think a lot of people are daunted by the thought of working on a serious game for this reason (I know I was)
In my opinion, a serious game is much more difficult to create in this genre. (but ultimately more rewarding)

The only thing I can add to the topic is that I really don't like the SCUMM interface.  Unless you can right click to scroll through the functions.  It gives me the irrates.  Plus it takes up so much space on the screen...

Completed Game Announcements / Re:ISN: Kill!

sounds interesting, downloading now...

i always wanted to say that =)  i've already played it! HA!
I too loved the interactions and humor, the humor style is very 'AGS' if you know what I mean, and I never get tired of it...

rock on harvester!

making the computer player part for FIFA 2004 was pretty hard, but then i only did it for the challenge so it didn't matter...

the coin gui for the latest game i've been working on was a killer too, and so is the 'skill-tester' i'm trying to get going at the moment...

mine is based on a character based on a very greedy seagull....

I was at a holiday house with a group of friends, and we were eating fish 'n chips on the beach throwing scraps to the seagulls, a large chicken bone was thrown, and one of them ate the whole thing in one bite... it got stuck halfway and you could see the bone pushing out the side of it's neck.
ahhh, good times...

the link worked for me when i dragded it.

i loved some of the interactions, like the one for the arial view of the pier, and that 'arcade sequence' =) so keep makeing games...
i like playing the really amature ones as much as the more proffesional ones a lot of the time.
I won't make any suggestions, cause as you said, you already know the flaws, and it's your game, you're right to not want to change it... Fight the Power!   or something...

duzz out.

I know anyone could extract a rar file if they downloaded one of a multitude of programs that can do this, but most people just use winzip, and i don't want people to think they have to download a rar extractor just to use my game....

i was more wondering if self-extractors annoy people, or is it just the full installers, that plant stuff in the start menu, and registry, etc ?
i know installers annoy me...
#151
just so I know, are self extracting zip's type things held in the same regard as those 'evil installers'?
cause my preference is to release games in a self extracting rar, as not everyone can extract .rar files...

historically, the bible is correct farlander, no historian denies the existance or crusifiction of JC, but lets not get into that... (although I'm sure we will)

I don't think blaspheme really applies to non-christians, cause they're all going to hell anyways, and I don't think god would really get that upset about the whole CJ is JC thing anyway, as it's all in jest...
You really shouldnt be offended by people saying it though Wanderlady.  You should be strong enough in your faith that you won't feel compromised by what others say...

anywhoo, I'm going back under my rock...

use pdf for the manual, like in rodequest2
your own GUI is a must if its to look proffessional
and your own icon helps yeah.

I always prefered the second kyrandia, The third had too many annoying bits like the jail sequences and the jungle maze... and that hand thing was cool.

saw it last night, I liked it alot more than the matrix, but it wasn't super great, I prefered snatch in terms of style...
I agree that the music was a little repeditive and annoying, mainly in the anime sequence...
Spoiler

and what airline allows you to carry swords with you?

I heard that the black and white bits were made like that simply to please the censors, but were in full colour in some countries. Anyone seen the colour versions? I imageine it must be quite a bit more gory...

absolutely beautiful game man. I loved all the interactions and dialogs, and the backgrounds were perfect =) those headless guys were great too... hahaha
Spoiler
my only gripe was that I thought I'd somehow get to push the shed with the ladderguy in it over the edge of the cliff instead of just blocking him in with rocks. I don't really know if it was on a cliff, but it looked like it was...  I suppose the knowledge that he'll slowly starve to death will suffice ;)

AGS Games in Production / Re:GameBlaster V1.0
Mon 27/10/2003 00:03:57
Whatever it's called, I'd find it very useful.
Would there be an option for folders to seperate different categories? eg for hour games, RoN, or Mags Games, etc?

edit: sorry, I didn't see your first reply for some reason :-X

I know I don't post much, but I always laugh out loud when reading the various fights and arguments that seem to regularly break out between forum members.  The natural evolution of this must be what foz has put out here, he's gone and made a great game that will, in quite good taste, piss Vel off to no end...

I hold no hostility towards you Vel, and indeed I eagerly await this games review in the next agsEzine  ;D

Anyway, I enjoyed the game foz, and you've got my vote (well I AM kind of IN it, so I can't really deny you THAT... ;D)

keep up the good work =)
