Ah, yes. An 18943 american dime. I'd say, judging by it's distinguishing marks and relative lack of wear on the designs that this would be worth approximately one american dime...back in 1843...

...Thought I'd better make something before someone posts that 'Indy working at a strip club' image again...

NEXT: Still on the subject of deleted scenes: 'I want to have your abortion' VS 'I havn't been fucked like that since grade school'

Critics' Lounge / How do I ink?

Gah!
Everytime I try to ink a picture I've done; the outlines come out all horrible and wobbly like this!

But I want nice, clean outlines like this or this or this

I know these things take practice but I don't even know where to start. Please, please help me...I'm fed up of ruining my best lineart with shoddy inking.

If I try doing it quickly with fast, flowing strokes I miss the lines completely and everything becomes horribly mis-shapen.
But when I try carefully going over the pencil slowly the lines come out shaky with big blobs of ink where there should be smooth lines.

So...Please...Share your knowledge, great ones. Let me know the secret of this dark art. I will give you cookies! CYBER cookies!!

I like the term hand drawn. Drawing with a mouse (even though you do use your hands) feels sort of...indirect.
With a pencil it's like your hand is one with the drawing. Uuuummmmmmm...

First off, I would like to say that I LOVE cutscenes and I love gasme dialogs. Probably more than I enjoy actually playing the damn thing.

I think there is a point where intro's stop being intro's and start becoming movies. The tendancy then is to forget you're playing a game and it feels weird once the actual playing starts.
Many games with involved plots get past this by having a short (or no) intro, a small playable bit and THEN a long cutscene. That way the game has already been put into motion so the player can leap right in once the cutscene is over.

But, as everyone has said. There's no rule. The trick is, if you have a long intro, make it so the player will enjoy sitting through it for that long. Otherwise I recommend breaking it up with  gameplay...

Um...well

To be honest, I'm in the slightest bit musical. I have no natural talent or any real interest in learning how to do anything like this to a proffesional standard.
But my good friend, Alex Walker HAS got musical talent...more, importantly...He has a guitar! So he plays a riff and we collaborate on coming up with silly lyrics.
Now THAT I can do.

And so...the Fried Chicken Song was born.
Album coming soon people. ;)

In my opinion text ads can be more effective than most pop-up or banner ads since it's easier to take the site they're linking seriously...

That's friggin' awesome. And you thought you couldn't do game design!!

Mind blowing. The bit with the lettace thowing was pure genius. And Dennis kicked arse!!
