1. Have great idea for game/script/comic/animation/whatever
2. Pour many hours into it
3. Realize it is not actually that good
4. Work on it some more hours
5. Realize it is terrible
6. Realize that I am a wasted husk of a man
7. Cry

One of the first things you come to when you're scrolling down the global script in the default game template is code for making the character move when keys are pressed. I don't know why you wouldn't have seen it before being that you know the basics of the software but, you know, you could give that a look.

Looks wonderful!

Grabbed, Tagged and Ipod-add(ed).
Can't wait to listen on my walk to work.

If you make his hand a separate sprite that slowly rises up from the bottom of the screen then you will have achieved perfection.

I'm thinking of actually having an input box so people can choose their own non-Lord Gaytrousers name. I should research how to do that in Renpy... Goddamn... could do it easily if I was still using AGS regretsregretspanic.

RPG Work I did today:

List o' quests!
The dots on the side are me counting the quests in the original Fallout and seeing how my game idea measures up, hence...

Further haphazard quest brainstorming to get a feel for what if my game was more Fallout-sized, one of the ones on the tacked-on piece of paper says "Come up with a new name for Lord Gaytrousers" still figuring out how to implement that.

And now an image of THE GREATEST BETRAYAL IN HUMAN HISTORY. I'm sorry. I decided to make the switch this morning. I'll do the honourable thing and never come here again now.

Sweeeeet! I deliberately avoided doing anything more than skimming the animatic stuff so I could get the full impact first. Yo stuff has so much character, now we're all done with school we need to start thinking about collaborating again

I know it's not an adventure game but I know for a fact there's people on this forum who've been following this project and are as excited about it as me

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/70755535/dead-state-the-zombie-survival-rpg

For those who don't know: It's a tactical RPG set during a zombie outbreak, directed by the writer and quest designer of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. It sounds amazing, guys. And it's the perfect antidote for those disappointed that the Walking Dead game wasn't fraught with a bit more peril.

I know this thread's going to have the usual stuff from people who didn't read the page, the "Geeze, Zombies again. I bet they'll be all fast and terrible too. Booo", "Well so long as it's not a cheap first person shooter", "I cannot be interested in this because I see the character portraits do not contain enough blue" etc etc but... just read the thing, look at all the smart and cool features they have. Look at their commitment to ol' fashioned turn based gameplay and deep, multi-layered storytelling. These guys are the real deal. They are our people. Embrace them.

I knew he was at Pixar and I saw him listed as a 'director' on this Pixar art blog but... so heavily involved... with such a spiffy looking movie.
Awww man, if there was a Pixar movie fully conceived and directed by Purcel I would DROWN IN HAPPY-ENDORPHINS.

Looks lovely. I'm waiting to see if it's as traditional an adventure game as they say but I love puzzle platformers so a puzzle platformer with extra emphasis on the puzzle and said puzzles being designed by Ron Gilbert holds awesome potential for me.

Turning off the spoken narration was the best feature in Gabriel Knight 1.

If you're going to do long, adventure-gamey descriptions I really think the written word is the way to go. No-one hates reading.

I'm trying to think of Zombie movies that might have cranes in the background.

I thought maybe Return Of The Living Dead but I don't see Trash in there.

That Jurassic Park game sounds so awful, I don't want to touch it with a ten foot pole. it's the main reason I was iffy on getting Walking Dead but I have been proven wrong and it is a good game of it's type and ytou shouldn't let Jurassic Park affect your hudgement is my jhudgemenr juggle juggernaut jugs,.

I cannot wait to play an FMV game in HD. Finally, LA Noire can get shown up for the overbudgeted pile of balls it was.
This'll be brilliant

Played a little bit at my girlfriend's house. Really, really pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

The button-mash quicktime events are as lame as they were back in Heavy Rain but everything else... I dunno... just kind of works. You feel involved without the game losing any of it's classy TV show-feeling sheen.
