If you work on a transparent background you can set AGS's colour depth to 32 bit which means you can  import sprites with that transparency in tact, so there's no need for the pixel-border step.
Good luck!

Looks great. And I hope you're still implementing the idea of the narrator remembering previous playthroughs after 'deaths' and becoming more and more exasperated at the panda's inability to help himself.
That's right, I'm chiselling it into the granite walls of this forum so you'll be held to it.

Like a lot of people my first introduction to Lupin III was through the Miyazaki movie and I liked it quite a bit.

Of course I've since discovered the series debauched, randy, violent and crazy-well-drawn history and now I love it with all my heart despite only seeing the pilot for the TV show on youtube and owning one random volume of the comic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMhr_6BVO3Y The pilot's still up and it's still a smorgasbord of visual insanity. People who say animé is never expressive need to get this shit down their necks.

EDIT: And don't worry that the subtitles are in Italian, you'll get it.

No idea if you've seen them but Paranoia Agent and FLCL are pretty much, for their own reasons, the two most beautiful things in the world.

Ooh... ohh... I have a question! I have a question!

How would I go about asking to license a chunk of The Byrds version of 'Hey, Mr Tambourine Man' for my student film. I've searched forever and I can't find who to talk to, I think the ambiguity stems from it being a cover.

Yes.

There are plenty of different things that your question could mean but I am 100% sure that they are all possible.

Let's ask my good friend Duckman...

He says "Follow your heart."

Honestly though, there's no reason why someone using these sprites for still NPCs couldn't just jiggle their jaws around a little bit in Paint  for talking without bugging ProgZmax to do a whole animation. It might look crude but it would be perfectly functional, aahh, RON's mantra.

Any word on this actually coming back?

The information on the site is great but I really think it needs to be transferred to a wiki. RON's a very full and flexible world and I don't think the current site is really doing it justice.

Does it let you play the play the game in French with english subtitles.
I'm soooo curious.

What CAN'T you do with it!!

This thread's become pretty interesting, despite the obnoxiousness of the initial post.

Something I find interesting on the 3D end of things: This guy makes Myst-style adventures in the Fallout 3 engine. You can turn pretty much anything into an adventure game with a little ingenuity.

I read the whole announcement e-mail pretty much aghast at how they could take on so much work (although I suspect some of these projects might be functioning more as pilots than anything)but I'm firmly in the yaysayers boat as I dig Telltale and I think they're completely successful at what they do (ie, chuck a few hours of easygoing entertainment the way of poor schmoes like me every month). I thought all the Sam & Max's were great and Tales Of Monkey Island was... aaahhh... I loved it, I worry because I feel like the first couple of episodes seemed to prove everything the cynics were saying right; it wasn't that funny, the graphics were bland, the puzzles weren't very solid but by the end it was a masterpiece! A high point of the whole franchise! It was all I could do not to hulk out and snap my keyboard in half as I howled "I want mooooooore!" to the moon.

That's where I think the BTTF games are going, the first couple of episodes (I haven't played the second one yet) will be finding their feet, rough around the edges but by about episode four it'll be something special.

KEEP THE FAITH!

As an addendum: I see no reason Jenson couldn't pen an episodic adventure game, the Gabriel Knight's all had a chapter-based structure. If their Kings Quest revival goes down well they should give her a call.

I'm pretty excited about Xage, especially the facebook and browser implementation. That and all the stuff people are working on with making AGS games being able to communicate with each other over the internet is leading me to think something very clever and modern is about to happen with adventure games. Something with co-op puzzle solving and community-driven gameplay and delicious gaming satisfaction.
