And try elaborating your point more, relying purely on sarcasm seems kinda juvenile.

It's very simple: Religion doesn't kill things - people do. Do you know how many millions of Muslims haven't blown themselves up, and have no intention of doing so?

It's like the IRA. Thirty years ago, people looked at Ireland and said "OMG, it's a warzone down there - they're all killing each other on the streets." It's not true. The IRA are a group of dickhead terrorists, they are not the actual Irish Republican Army (in case you were wondering). Al Jazira are a group of dickhead terrorists - they don't represent Islam.

Just like Eric Harris and that other douche don't represent atheism...

Quoteor what purpose would they be propagandizing?

People are like that. Remember all the bullshit propaganda that PS3-fanboys put out about the Xbox 360? They don't personally benefit from that. It's human nature - if someone thinks something is good, and someone else thinks it's bad, those two people will fling all sorts of crap at each other...

My dad nicks them from work (well, really he only nicked one laptop, and that was only because it was contaminated by arsenic... and I'm on it right now...)

To look at it another way, we currently have 17 (?) entries.  At 200 words apiece, that's 3400 words which is a nice short story.  At 2000 words apiece, that's 34000 words which is in novella territory.

I suppose when you look at it like that, it makes sense.

...
I'll shut up now :P

Yeah, Darth, and anyone else who thinks that Scientologists are a bit off, but not dangerous should read more about Scientology.  They destroy families and lives, steal money, enslave children, and kill their followers.

http://xenu.net/ <--- A big collection of readings
http://www.lisamcpherson.org/ <----Woman killed by scientology
http://www.xenu-directory.net/critics/fishman1.html <---- My favorite story.  Absolutely insane.

from http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Fishman/fishman.html :

Meh, all that stuff sounds like bullshit propaganda. Even if it's true, protests aren't gonna solve much, anyway...

Anyone can say "Scientology tortures kittens! I know 'cause I was like, a high-ranking member and stuff! I am super, super serial..."

Meh, Irish women tend to be dominant and cynical. It's the men that are the sensitive ones...

Pick-up lines are met with such common phrases as:
"Gettawayoutta tha'"
or
"Ack, yer drunk again"
or simply
"Fuck off."

I always thought calling something (especially a work of art) "commercial" was quite the insult. Hell, I'd be insulted...
For me, it has 'phony salesman' connotations...

Yeah, Yahtzee has a 'special edition' for most of his games, which you can gain access to if you donate 5 or more quid. Dunno if it's really done much - he certainly isn't dining with Bill Gates or anything...

Personally, I don't think you'll make much money with old-fashioned adventure games any more, unless it has HD graphics and Brad Pitt doing the main character's voice...

Then again, there's not much glory either - a couple pats on the back by various adventure game communities. Not like you'll be getting a BAFTA or something.

I think it's more about personal achievements. "Yay, I made a video game that's fairly popular. My dream's come true."

Either that, or it's just for the shits and giggles...

Is there something like GuiOn in your main repeatedly execute script? You should take a look at what is in your main script related to your inventory.

Nah, then it would be constantly on. The inventory works fine, it just doesn't disappear unless I actually press the button... I don't think I really changed anything regarding the inventory. I haven't done much with the script on my own... I checked, a couple (hundred) times and didn't find anything (at least, nothing that caught my noob-eyes...)

My understanding is that if you want to be before me, you'd edit your previous post in this topic along with the position you want. If you want to be after me, edit the post you just wrote, and Andail will delete your previous one. If you wanted to be fourth, then you'll have to kill me.

About your previous post, I think 200 words is a goodly sized bit of writing, allowing us some space for writiness, without making us have to go one and on within the the small slot of the story we've been given. I'm pretty sure we're not trying to write a novel here, and if we were, it'd be damnably difficult to read it all without printing it out.

That little post of yours was 124 words. Over half your allotted amount.

Believe me, 200 words is barely noticeable (unless you do a lot of exposition, or you're really economical with words). I'd say either make it 2,000, or do a couple of rotations...
You can't write a decent scene in 200 words, even if it's just a quick conversation... (And you need at least 3 scenes - beginning, middle, and end. And that's a bare minimum...)

Or maybe I'm just long-winded when I write... :P

How about this: you can write 200 - 2,000 words. That way, it can suit all the writers and their individual styles.

Ever seen the 9-minute Tom Cruise Scientology Rant? It's goddamn hilarious... Actors suck so much without scripts...

I love when he forgets what he's talking about, trails off, stares into space for a full 30 seconds and then bursts out laughing and starts talking about 'SPs'... ('Suppressive People', which is basically us...)

Then can we make the St. Patrick's one green?

With your same line of argumentation you could also excuse the behaviour of murderer, paedophile,...

Has society really degenerated to the point that being un-PC is the equivalent of being a child-raping-murderer?

You may not choose to have an irrational fear, but you can choose to control how much you let it affect your behaviour.

Not really. That's what irrational means - it's not grounded in any logical thought process. It's a simple knee-jerk reaction, like having a spider crawling down the back of your neck, or getting hit in with one of those little hammers.

I mean, I'm sure it's possible to overcome with a lot of psychotherapy in a gradual process, but that's a lot of money and effort to spend just to be politically correct...

Edit

That may be true, but what I'm saying is that you shouldn't condem someone with a fear of something. Someone who is actually racist/sexist etc is a different matter.

I don't think anybody should be condemned for their beliefs, no matter what they may be. Now, if they try to force their beliefs on others, or act on them, that's different - but just because someone says something that most people don't agree with, I don't see why it's such a crime.

Why is it that 'freedom of speech' only seems to apply if what you're saying is popular?

Code: ags
DisplaySpeech (CHARID, string message);
will make the character say the text, rather than just display a message.

You can set speech colour in the character tab (it's a numerical value, under the speeds), or with
Code: ags
SetTalkingColor (CHARID, int newcolor);
