Radio Days?

EDIT: Ugh. That's not the movie I meant to guess. Radio Days is the Woody Allen film. This is...the other one.

The Twelve Tasks of Asterix (Les Douze travaux d'Astérix)

Indeed! This isn't Getafix, but rather a druid who lives at the top of a mountain and asks the unanswerable question.

No connection here between this one and the last, that I know of:

One that regularly vies for status as my all-time favorite movie (and my all-time I-think-she-is-the-most-attractive actress). Once Upon a Time in the West!

I was certain Miguel had the correct answer. This isn't Batman (aka Batman: The Movie) from 1966?

I've done pretty poorly with my Lucky Dips so far. I first got a game that was actually just the source code for fighting sequences, my second was a demo that no longer exists for a commercial game (that still looks kind of interesting though --  Odissea), and my third was a find-your-way-through-the-maze game, which is what I believe Hell will look like for me when I die.

Still, I persevered and got through the maze in 873 moves. I forgot, however, to find the treasure first. Oh well.

I may be wrong, but I think your third point of perspective, the one below the page, looks off to me. The notches for the radio frequencies shouldn't be parallel, but increasingly more angled the further you get from the focal point.

I also feel as though the angle of the bottom edge of the radio is off, but this might be an optical illusion because of the way that corner converges with the bottom of the image.

If I'm not mistaken, that's actually a British film, financed by Lord Lew Grade, who also produced The Prisoner and The Muppet Show. I should've gotten that one! I didn't recognize Jack O'Halloran without his Non beard.

EDIT: ...And I am mistaken! Big Sleep was the British production. This is the one that featured a young Stallone.

Looks kind of like a handsomer Irwin Keyes. Who is that actor?

Quote from: icey games on Wed 04/09/2013 00:52:07Ok, so recently I've ordered a Wacom tablet as I thought it'd be more proficient than my mouse, unfortunately I ordered the one without the screen on it but it's fine it still works.
This is so freaking funny in so many ways.

Just a difference of $1000 or so....

That's actually a pretty good job on the maps!

This kind of reminds me of a movie I used to like as a kid, George's Island, but I don't think that's it. I feel like I do know this one, though.

I had to re-read this several times before I realized the character's name was Eric! Well, you've already sold me on it. Downloading to play this weekend!

If you think it merits its own thread, just start a new one and mention that the topic came up here.

I thought of that, but didn't want to overstep! I guess things are continuing here in new and unexpected directions, so I'll withdraw my request! Thanks, Snarky!

Quote from: Vince Twelve on Thu 29/08/2013 14:26:22I'm questioning whether adventure games actually need the look function.

Moderators -- any chance this (and subsequent replies) could be broken out into its own topic? This is a segue into what I think could be a valuable discussion of game mechanics that goes beyond the scope of the original thread subject, and that discussion might otherwise be missed by many members that would contribute.

You've really captured that "pudgy Indy walking with an invisible cane" feel so many fan games are going for. (laugh)

I can tell you the reason for that, actually. The way you've animated the arm is actually more appropriate for a leg. The leg is like a piston that drives the body forward. The arms don't need the same deliberate motion; they swing loosely and not to the same extreme to provide balance.

UNLESS! You're using a cane, in which case the arm using the cane is like a leg.

I think most of the issues we're critiquing are anatomical in nature, and not related to the actual Anime Studio technology that you're using. I get the feeling that once you get the motions to look more natural (which should be easier because you're using bones, and not keyframes), and correct some things like moving the head back so that the weight is more on top of the shoulders, that you'll see accelerated production.

But to clarify, are you looking for specific critiques of this sprite, or of the technique in general?

Twisty Little Passages by Nick Montfort (who is represented here) is another interesting read, for those wishing to delve further into theories of IF.
