I believe I had this same problem here. Khris suggested a way to make it work, but I was never able to do so.

If you guys come up with a solution, let me know! The workaround I eventually used is ham-fisted and not as aesthetically pleasing.

Seems I chose a poor theme for this contest.  :-[

Anyone planning to submit something? There's now less than 48 hours to go....

This is yet another lovely image. I'd love to see more of your rendering process, the in-between of the two images you posted above.

Quote from: Jaffles on Wed 02/05/2012 00:40:35Could Draco's pal Slugamor know anything about the Aluminattis?

I like the look of this Slugamor chap. He's like the Fonz of Reon Elementary School.

Well, I've said it before, and I'll say it again most likely before the game is over: Yaggaggahgaghagdammit.

>Take a vial of morphine, for god's sake.

What's happened here, WHAM, is that we've turned the game on its head. Now you're the player, and we're the controller. Your goal is to keep our PC alive while we do stupid things.

Just then, I had 1.5 brilliant ideas!

I can see what you're talking about. Do you think it's the whole body that's too narrow? I think it might just be that his torso narrows down too much and the hips are too thin. If I widen the top of his pantaloons and the bottom of his sweater, would that look better? I'll give this a shot as soon as I get home.

Thanks, gameboy!

I literally have no idea what I was supposed to be doing (I watched that guy yo-yo for awhile, bought some potions, failed to buy some apples from the Centauride I suggestively stood behind, didn't believe the guy when he said he didn't see me come in -- he totally did, eyed that old lady beside the magic shop because I don't trust her, and none of this seemed to improve my stats).

But I did a lot of walking around and seemed to do OK with that. In the pub, I could walk all over everyone and everything. Seems some of your baselines are off.

You might want to have the game reject non-standard characters for the nickname with an error message instead of locking the game.

If her lower legs gets shadow from the rest of the leg, there probably would be some shadow from the skirt/her body on the upper legs. Otherwise, looks nice.

I was about to post this, pretty much verbatim. Add a pixel of skirt shadow, and this sprite is fantastic.

Thank you for your continued tolerance of this thread and my work. I had some time and the energy to take a stab at this walk cycle animation again, and so, of course, I started over -- not from scratch, but I completely redid everything but the hands and the shoes on the right-walking sprite. That head is still a placeholder.

As a result of the Spriter Kickstarter thread, I decided to take a stab at the combining isolated parts (e.g. forearm, upper arm, torso all separate vector pieces in Illustrator) and did all of these in one afternoon. So I think I'll be using this method from now on.

There are some wiggly places, especially around the shoulders and, uh...crotches. I also need to add some butt lines for the rear views, and add shadows for depth.

More lessons learned:

1. Never create elaborate footwear for your characters.
2. Make characters as symmetrical as possible.
3. Legs are weird!

Quote from: Khris on Fri 27/04/2012 18:54:27As a rule of thumb, if making the table's border visible looks ugly, you shouldn't have used a table. ;)

I'd go further and say if you're not arranging sortable data, then you shouldn't use a table!  ;-D

Divs and floats, while there's a bit of a learning curve, are infinitely rewarding once you're capable of using them!

Sure, if it fits, I'll allow double-dipping!

Quote from: Pumaman on Fri 27/04/2012 17:54:21Unfortunately there's no easy way of putting the ellipses text cut-off at the right place on multi-line text, so it looks a bit of a mess now. If anyone knows a way to improve this let me know.

I feel as though I've worked on a web project where, somehow, a query was run, and the ellipses were -- I assume you're cutting off after a certain number of characters? Anyway, the query looked for the closest space before the cut-off and put the ellipses there. This may have also involved changing all spaces into  s in that div. I'm racking my brain trying to remember which project this was, but I feel as though I've discovered one of those brain cells that died from high school alcohol use.

Yes, I should add that most of the things I've mentioned have been minor. I hope we're not piling too much on. I figured while you had the hood open, we might as well suggest a few things. I think the new board looks spectacular (and, as I browse the site mostly on a big-screen TV on which I've zoomed in the site, and on my phone, I don't mind the padding that everyone else seems up in arms about).

Link the logo at the top to either the main page or the front page of the forum? I keep trying to click it to no avail.

A win well deserved for Amélie! Thanks for choosing me for a trophy as well. This is my first trophy!

Possibly the registration quiz part isn't ready yet.

You're just jealous you didn't think of the game DATE SINGLE RUSSIAN WOMEN first.
