Valley of the Exiles gave me nightmares as a kid, but I kept rereading it. Definitely my favourite Spirou, but probably not a very representative place to start. For that you should go with one of the Franquin albums recommended by Snarky.

Spirou albums aren't all available in English? That seems so strange.

If you want more recommendations, check out The Bluecoats, although its availability in English is probably even worse than Spirou. I would rank it just after Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, and Spirou. I would describe it as Asterix set in the US civil war, to give you an idea of what it's like.

Put me on the list of definite attendees also.

Any date in August works for me. I can pay my share early as well if we need to gather enough for the deposit.

Although I do prefer to preserve people's photo comments where they've made a gallery, so people who've done that could just zip up their gallery files and I could move them to the meetings site?

My images contain the comments in the metadata anyway, but I've added an index.html with comments and inline js/css to the zipped album now.

Craig Ferguson, definitely.

Sure, I'd attend either, no preference though, both should be fun.

And Disneyland is awesome.

I see the colour highlighting css for directly linked posts were added. Unfortunately the markup for when a linked post is the first post of a page is different, so those posts won't get highlighted. Fixed CSS below, using the sibling combinator selector:

Code: ags

/* Linked post */
a#new + div.windowbg,
a#new + div.windowbg span.topslice,
a#new + div.windowbg span.topslice span,
a#new + div.windowbg span.botslice,
a#new + div.windowbg span.botslice span {
	background: lime !important;
}

a#new + div.windowbg2,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.topslice,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.topslice span,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.botslice,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.botslice span {
	background: pink !important;
}

/* Linked post when first post in a thread */
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg:first-child,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg:first-child span.topslice,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg:first-child span.topslice span,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg:first-child span.botslice,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg:first-child span.botslice span {
	background: lime !important;
}

a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg2:first-child,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg2:first-child span.topslice,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg2:first-child span.topslice span,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg2:first-child span.botslice,
a#new ~ div#forumposts div.windowbg2:first-child span.botslice span {
	background: pink !important;
}

To get the coloured post indicators again use this CSS, works for both the New post link for threads and direct links to a specific post:

Code: ags

a#new + div.windowbg,
a#new + div.windowbg span.topslice,
a#new + div.windowbg span.topslice span,
a#new + div.windowbg span.botslice,
a#new + div.windowbg span.botslice span {
	background: lime !important;
}

a#new + div.windowbg2,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.topslice,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.topslice span,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.botslice,
a#new + div.windowbg2 span.botslice span {
	background: pink !important;
}

I'll leave the choice of colours to someone else.

Edit: Minor fix required due to insane markup. <span class="topslice"><span></span></span>? Good heavens.

Oh no, Tweet and Facebook Share buttons, is there no escape?

Did we use to show post counts before? I thought we only showed post counts up to 10 posts or so, then hide them.

Edit: My avatar is now a spiffy 120x120, and I'm glad my Larry Vales smiley survived the move. It is my greatest accomplishment :=

Good find, Grundislav. That does look excellent.

Esseb gets it! Though I much prefer the original title "Turkey Shoot".  :D

Onward!\o/

Oh, sorry for not posting a new image. I was just guessing wildly and didn't check back since I assumed I was wrong.

Eggie: The trick is to watch the movies before they get posted here.

LimpingFish: I haven't got a clue, so I'll guess MASH just because of the colour palette and the army green vehicle.
