My advice applies for the forums also. Contact the moderators if you see it happening. Then it is up to them to judge if the situation is bad enough to warrant a reaction. I agree with you to some extent like I said above, a few of the oldbies do tend to be a bit over the top at times.

So it is #ags you are referring to?

If you see this happening again pm one of the operators in the channel, the people with @ in front of their nick, and explain the situation. Except for Roger and BlueCup who are bots.

That is why a few people have suggested you use anonymizer, which basically is a way to bypass hotlinking limitations.

Use this url instead:

Which works just splendidly as you can see below

I agree with Andail, but I think we could be more friendly to the new people he mentions also.

I just wanted to point out that if your example happens to be from #ags, it never was meant to be a place to ask technical questions.

If you're still around, I made a SCI font version of the Discworld 1 ingame speech font about a year ago complete with outlines which you could add to your pack.

Here's a screenshot of the font ingame, I couldn't find the program you used to make the font display pictures in the first post otherwise I would show that:

I added my initials as the first character because I was vain and figured noone would ever see it anyway.

Download it here: www.esseb.com/div/esseb_DiscworldFont.zip

Monkey Island 2 wins just because it was the first for me.

Grim, DOTT, S&M, FOA, MI1 are all very close seconds.

I disagree, they just make me uninstall the game.

Here is the list of my AGS related songs if you're missing any mods, most are by you though:

www.esseb.com/div/AGS%20Songs.txt

"The Beautiful One and Me" by Goldmund probably shouldn't be in that folder, but I liked it.

48 pieces, including a beautiful rendition of "Con Te Partiro" by Grundislav filmed with his webcam.

Edit: I updated the collection with proper names for the songs and the authors based on AGA's collection. The #Unsorted folder has songs where I'm not sure of the title or author(s).

Leivland does have a certain charm to it (ignoring other alleged prior discoveries or the fact that it was discovered as much as I discovered the Tower of London when I visited England).

Edit: I forgot to mention I only figured out InCreator was from Estonia with the help of Google. Now what was the original topic of this thread about...?

Edit 2: I obviously wasn't clever enough to look at his profile, but that's besides the point.

So basically you're upset because Bryce or Erpy's threatened to add your e-mail adress to spamlists while you yourself have added theirs to porn lists?

I like the idea of changing his wig all the time, especially if as Arasan suggests you get to see his wig cabinet or similar.

I must say I prefer plastic's version of #6 to the original, and I thought about suggesting redrawing it before I read page 2 of the thread.
#674
Here's the first thread about it on the ags forums I belive. Coincidentally it was my first one as well. Laugh at the newbie.

I can imagine it working just fine. The resolutions of old adventure games aren't that great and with the size of the cellphone displays increasing I don't see how that will be too much of a problem.

Regarding the input, an SMS message really doesn't take too long to write, even using proper spelling, assuming the port borrows the idea of a dictionary.

For those who don't know what it is, most mobile phones include a word dictionary which helps speed up typing. Instead of hitting 44 33 555 555 666 to type in hello you simply type in 43556 and see if the word "hello" came up, if another word which uses the same input came up you simply hit the * to scroll through the available words. Seeing as how pretty much all text adventures include a world list it wouldn't be too hard to look up the available words in this. In addition a basic word list should be supplied on the side so that it's possible to type in common words that isn't used in the game.

With such a method I think text adventures on mobiles would work very well. I'm not sure if this particular port uses a method like it however.

There is also the small problem with different TV-signals. Since she lives in Europe her TV probably has no problem with NTSC signals if it's less than 5 years old but you never know. Your best bet is to buy it from a European online store and get it delivered to her which will save you the hassle of asking her what TV she has, getting a power adapter, and shipping the thing to her.

Unfortunately I don't know about any good ones that ship to Italy. This is probably what you were asking for but noone else seems to have been giving you recommendations so I thought I'd lead the conversation back on track.

As for the region thing, before you buy the DVD player google for it and see if it's possible to make it region/zone free. It's usually done by setting the player to region 0 with the remote using a "secret" menu. Pretty much all DVD players have this hidden option these days. European ones at least.

Edit, note:

US & Canada- NTSC
Western Europe & Australia - PAL
France & Eastern Europe - SECAM

His webpage mentions he uses an emulator, I can't remember which one exactly but he says he thinks emulators are great because you can save with them. I interpret this to mean he did not play it all in one sitting and that he probably replayed each level several times to get it just right.

Very impressive still.

There's a dash between penny and arcade Interference.

Sites I visit on a semi-regular basis:

www.flipcode.com
www.gamedev.com

There are others but I can't think of them now. Google doesn't really apply as I usually search from the Opera adress bar.

Prediction:
When the aliens invade the planet, and all of human-kind must unite to fight off the alien hordes.  I predict that finally we'll realize how petty and insignificant all this bullshit we've fought over truely is and we'll all realize that every man woman and child on this planet is inherantly the same.  Skin color, religious differences, all that doesn't mean shit when you realize that we're all humans ... end of debate.

We need a race us humans can unite against in order to get rid of racism? Brilliant.

It must be something about cars. Petter Solberg has the worst English accent of any Norwegians I've ever heard mangle the language.
