I just got done successfully bidding on a complete nice set of Constructicons.Ã,  These are the 6 green evil transformers that formed together to create Devastator (ooooooh).

For the longest time I have regreted losing track of my set.Ã,  And now, I will have them back.Ã,  This is the one toy from my childhood I have wanted for years.

So, if you could have something back from your childhood, what would it be?

The ones I just got are out of box, but I don't care, I want to play with them.Ã,  It would be nice to have a sealed set, but that would be much $$$$$$$

Share your childhood memories

I really hate to be a stickler here, but you should read the forum rules...

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=1615.0

3. DO NOT ask for hints for a game in its release thread. There is a separate forum for that purpose. Release threads are for comments and criticism only.

That and I've already mentioned that the website (link in first post) has a walkthrough.

No, that's all.

Just something to mentioned [I think it was mentionted in the demo thread] some of the senses had one-use things;

Kudos on the walking stick by the way; i noticed it made noises (albiet really quiet sometimes) when you tapped everything with it. I'm looking forward to anything else you're coming up with.

This all has to do with why I wasn't 100% happy with the game.Ã,  I wish I had given more uses to the senses.Ã,

But for the person who asked, yes there is the intent for part 2 to this game at some point in the future.

UPDATE:Ã,  I've added the default load/save option to the game.
F5 for save
F7 for load
There'll be no GUI for it, you'll just have to know the buttons to push.

There is a (very short) readme.txt in with a reminder to this...

Made a small bug fix
Spoiler

All know references to "mirror" are gone and it is now fully refered to as "window".

Also, just curious for those who have played...
Spoiler

Anyone found the secret behind the plant?Ã,  It's not hard or that special, but it's the only lead in I have in this game for part 2....

The website on the first posting has a walkthrough.

The walkthrough has a few minor flaws since I was typing to fast to get it done in time. I'll get those corrected soon.

I considered the game short enough to not warrant a save/load feature.Ã,  But this is the 2nd time it's been mentioned to me.Ã,  I might put a back door way to do it tonight.Ã,  Ã,  I'll get to it later today.

Ok guys, take 2

[EDIT V2.0]
New host, new domain, new URL...Go to the first posting for website....

Etcher Squared Games is now (finally) releasing its 2nd game:
Into The Light

Everything you need (screen shots, download, walkthrough) is at the Into The Light Website[/b]

I just thought perhaps a synopsis of the game would be great on the webpage too, I'll get to adding that later tonight....

But in the mean time....
Tim is a professor at a local university.Ã,  He gets lost while heading to lunch one day and accidentally witnesses a murder.Ã,  He gets knocked out by the murderer and kidnapped.

You must help Tim escape to freedom.Ã,  (This is a one room game).

There is one small catch.Ã,  Tim is blind.Ã,  You really do not have visuals to work with.Ã,  You need to use the help of your other senses to get out.

[disclaimer]
This game was an experiment for me.Ã,  I DO NOT expect this game to be for everyone.Ã,  The graphics are sparse (being that it's first person from Tim's perspective).Ã,  I was trying a new style of game play.Ã,  So, if you play it and just don't like it, I will understand and not be insulted.
[/disclaimer]

[edit]
Ok, geocities is apparently giving me fits.
I'm at work currently and can't do much right now, but I'm going to try to use 50megs when I get home and if that doesn't work, I've had an offer for someone to host my game (thanks)

I'll bump thread when that is working again.

Sorry for those who've tried to d/l it.

[edit edit]
New host that I pay for (not much, but I have 2500 mb and no max file size)

Hi, just completed the Beta version, no bugs found (just remembered is 'pressence' a word?). Nice idea, well crafted also, reminded me of some flash games. Only one gripe, put a confirm on the 'EXIT', no load/save is bad enough but an accidental EXIT click and it's all over.

1. Misspelling fixed
2. Confirmation added for quiting the game when in the middle of a game
3.
Spoiler

Added a neat little effect (affect?) when you break the pipe.Ã,  A water dripping like sound continuously plays and a little animation cycles when you aren't near the pipe showing the water flowing, kinda like the vent when it goes on...

Otherwise I predict this will be the last post on this.
I will see you all in a few days over in "Games completed".

Darth, does this mean locky locky?Ã,  Ã, :'( :'( :'( :'(

The game is short enough that I decided not to have save or restore functions.Ã,  That and I ran out of room in the top menu to put them in anyway :P

Esper:
In regards to the color, I had thought about it...Ã,  I had decided to make things appear visually as a sighted person would seem them when the main character is fully focused on a specific up to the point where he could "imagine" color if he knew about various colors.Ã,
Spoiler

That's why I left the panel black and white though, because adding color to it doesn't add anything for Tim or the player.Ã,  And the idea was that the numbers/labels were such that he couldn't "feel" them anyway...

[edit][shameless plug] Esper, see "Sierra Quest 1: Roberta In Love"

So, when you are close up on the toolbox, it appears red since he is concentrating on it...

Ozzie, PryoMonkey:
Ozzie thanks for the backup, you are correct in everything you said.

Erenan:
Thank you for the bug report, it's fixed and uploaded now.

[EDIT]Ã,  8-29-05
Added a few more sounds to the game.
Also I...
Spoiler

changed the way the toolbox works.Ã,  You must manually "pull" on the lock to open it rather than it just opening automatically when you get it right....

Game is DONE!

I just would like anyone who'd like to, to BETA test it.
Click on the link in the first message of this thread to get the game.

I'll give BETA testing a week to happen and regardless of what I hear I'll release it on September 1, 2005.

If anyone has already d/l'ed it and played it I'd still like to hear any comments on it.

This is otherwise my last posting about this game on the "AGS Games in Production" thread (excepting people find bugs).

Thank you all for the encouragment and high hopes on this game.Ã,

I am, sadly, not 100% pleased with this game myself.Ã,  It was an experiement for me, but I hope all of you enjoy it none-the-less.Ã,

I'm not happy at the lack of overall story.
I am happy for how it turned out otherwise.
...have fun...

I'm still using 2.62 to finish off my game, but I was just having a problem that I figured out that I wanted to bring to CJ's attention:

I have a cutscene that was mostly hanging when I'd try to skip it.
Only towards the end would it skip properly.

If I let the cutscene run, all worked well.
I found that the problem was at one point I ran an AnimateCharacter.
In this view/loop one frame would play a sound.

I would
Code: ags

while (!IsSoundPlaying())
Ã,  Wait(1);

And then I'd run a different animation on a different character.
I did this for synchronization.

But I found out that that wait above would lock up the cutscene skip.

I got around it by watching for the specific frame to appear that played the sound instead.

Now the cutscene skips well.

I'm not asking for any resolution or anything.Ã,  I'm just putting this out as an FYI to CJ since I didn't see this noted anywhere on the boards, manual, helps, faqs, etc that I saw.

Drawing from something that exists, I can kinda do that....

Greetings all.

The main portion of the game is almost/practically done.
I really could use a new set of eyes to play through it.Ã,  Try things I probably didn't think of.Ã,  Do whatever to break it, or just try things out of the ordinary and see if I handle it or don't handle it properly.Ã,  And then let me know of any issues, problems, inconsistencies, mispellingsÃ,  :P or anything else that feels wrong.

The intro is still only half done, but part of it I'm going to redo, because I'm not happy with the animation I came up with.
But the intro....
Spoiler

There is enough in the intro to clue you in on some things in the game on what to do.

So, please download the game, play it from:

http://www.geocities.com/etchersquaredgames/itl/

There is a link there for a walkthrough in case you get stuck.
I'm really trying to get this game done before the NFL regular season is upon us (September 8th).

Please play it and let me know of ANYTHING good or bad.

Please'es and thank you'es in advance.

I personally have no issues with making a future version of AGS that is not back compatible.  I think in order to make the software the best it can be you should occassionally break stuff.  As you said yourself about the music how you'd like to redo it.

You'd just have to keep publicly posted the "benchmark" versions.

Say 2.7 is a benchmark.  Keep that posted
Then in 3.0 you revamp the music as you'd like to.  Ok, that becomes a new benchmark.

Hopefully the # of benchmarks is kept to a minimum, but if something just isn't quite right, I say, go for it, make the change.
Just have a note on the page and maybe even put a check in the software ..."You are trying to upgrade accross benchmarks.  Your game WILL break.  You have been warned!!!"

something like that.

That's my opinion

Hello TheBrat499,

This is my first time giving feed back on C&C, so just know I mean everything I say positively and no insult intended...

cool? cool..

ok, first the sign, as compared to the trail, the sign is facing the wrong way.Ã,  Or is the sign not meant for people on the trail.Ã,  If it's a warning about "There be trail here" then you're ok.

Otherwise the far right hill is shadowed when it seems to me that it should be lit with it facing the sun.Ã,  I would think the right side of the left hill should be shadowed.

The sun isn't perfectly sphere..Ã,  :-\

The first impression I got from this scene was it made me a little dizzy.Ã,  I don't know, maybe it's just late for me and my eyes are tired.

Anyway, you probably hate me enough as it is so I'll stop here.
Definatly 1000000000000x better than anything I could do.Ã,  Ã,  ;D

good luck!

Congrats, Kinoko!  I'm very happy for you.

Can we by chance see a picture of the happy couple?

I have "Moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea".

http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/apnea.html

It's a condition where my airway gets blocked by...well itself as I sleep.Ã,  The "soft palette relaxes bla bla bla".

It's the cause of my snoring and a HUGE sorce of my depression.

Thankfully the most common cure works for me... a cpap machine
Continuous Positive Air Pressure

http://www.cpap.net/manufacturers_cpaps/respironics/REMstarPluswithcflex.htm

Basically, raise the pressure of the air inside my throat as compared to the outside, thus expanding the airway.

The one problem with this solution is finding a comfortable mask.

the full one
http://www.cpap.net/manufacturers_cpaps/resmed/UltraMiragefullfaceMask.htm
tended to be huge and clunky and annoying...

the nasal one
http://www.cpap.net/manufacturers_cpaps/resmed/UltraMirageMask.htm
worked a bit better.

But what's called the nasal pillow
http://www.cpap.net/manufacturers_cpaps/resmed/resmedswiftmask.htm
is just wonderful and I can sleep in my weird contorted fashions now without having to worry about the mask getting in the way of anything.

So, now I can sleep without waking up once every 2 minutes as my sleep study from a year ago showed I did.

(and yes my girlfriend has mentioned I do sound like someone when I sleep with my CPAP....)
