General Discussion / Re: Price on my guitar

Good luck. Unless you could sell it to the buyer themself, any music store will give you, like, 60% of their sale. And most stores go off of what they're selling for on eBay. And a Squire isn't going to bring in much more than $120. And you'll probably get no more than $50.

#23 is my favorite. Though the one one the right of the first one would make a good style for a game character. There's lots to pick from, but if you're going for a cutsie quick game to make, pick whichever is easiest for you to draw.

#4 and #22 are pretty cool too. Nicely drawn, but not too over the top fantasy.

Thanks for all the replies.
The reason why some the images are a little hard to figure out is because I've scaled down the image to fit the forum.
Too bad that most of you don't like the image because it's too weird or chaotic. Actually I thought that it should have more chaos. I wanted it to look as f**ked up as possible...
Maybe I'm just aiming at the wrong audience here or maybe I just have bad taste.

I agree with the scaling down. I understand how that works. In print it always seems so much more clear and sharp.

Fucked up doesn't mean offensive. Partly because we don't know the music, it's hard to place this. If the band is anything like, say, Mindless Self Indulgence, the cover might make more sense.

I think it's cool, I really do. I think it just needs more movement. Maybe show the legs posed a bit more, or adjust the arms so he looks more in motion.

As for the whole 9/11 thing, it's not in ALL bad taste. I take it (because its not an American band?) that it's symbolic. It's just over the horizon and if we don't do something that it could happen here, where ever that might be. He's taking his baby and moving away from all of the crazy that is associated with pop culture and mainstream, to protect some innocence of the world.

It's not all "SEPTEMBER 11 OFFENDS ME!!1", sometimes it can be a heartwarming story. However a penis-shirted man can be heartwarming.

Yeah, its hard to tell what it'll look like until the whole thing is done. The only thing I notice is that she looks more like she's kicking than walking. Maybe because she's not picking up her leg after she steps?

It's interesting. I don't hate it, but I think the concept would make a better music video. I say try it with just the guy and the baby, with just the ground and the sky. Unless it's a time thing.

It reminds me of this Barenaked Ladies cover.

Character looks good, but his head forward could be one pixel wider so it'd better match the side view.

Yeah, it's a very cool image. I blew it up in a window to about half it's res and it looked great. But at full view, it's really pixely. It would look much better if you used antialiased lines. Still perfectly fine for a printed card or something, but as a digital image, it feels like it's lacking.

Yeah, you've got yourself a cute little fan powered reed organ.

There's a fan on the side or the bottom that sucks air into a bellow. The keys are attached to a flat "reed' that opens up to make a sound, sort of like a harmonica. Actually, just like a harmonica, but with keys. The white board plays individual note, and the buttons to the left are chords, typically bass notes.

As for the tone of the instrument, some you can take apart and adjust the reeds so that they open, or even just clean them out. Depending on how nice it is and how it's built, you could probably put it back in working, in semi-tune order.

Earl, I'm always impressed by your work. This is a cool character and I got what you were going for right away.

I saw the animation in my head right away. Him (it) rotating his hips to move his feet with his arms dragging behind. The arms looked too short for this to work well, so I lengthened them out. The feet were really complicated, so I simpled them down to make the arms more obvious. Added some color for kicks. Color works pretty well actually, but looks best on really pastel background colors.

It's still a little hard to see exactly what is deformity is, but once animated it will obvious.

PS: You're missing a black line by his eye!

I can understand why they made a big deal about the first woman. She was ugg-lee.

Isn't this board v2.0? EZboard was 1.0, sorta.

Wait, what was the question? ???

1969 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport

Mmmm, muscley.

Well, a 'V' can look like other things if not done right. A wishbone or bow. Maybe even just a weird shape. The left 'V' looks better, but still too wishboneish. Maybe something more like calligraphy?

The banner isn't that bad. It's far enough away that it doesn't take away from the layout.

I'm not a huge fan of the red, it's too blood looking. Like Candall said, it's blurry, but I think a less bold color will make it less of a problem.

The sidebar could be more to the right. It sits pretty far away from the border. Even if the text gets moved, I think it'll look better.

The login box is confusing. The layout is ok, but labeling name and password and changing forever to "keep me logged in" or something would help make it look less unfinished.

Every time I think of Bluecup as a real woman, all I can think of is that photoshop of CJ's face on the model holding a Guiness.

Broadband connections usually refer to cable internet. I've never heard DSL, or something like a T-Line called broadband.

Well, it is a bit excessive. But, the router I have is something like this which runs $69.99, but it's trimodal like this and this one runs $149.99. I can't find the exact one, because it's older, but I know it ran $99.99 or more. Plus three cards, totaling around $100. Plus we bought our own modem too.

There are a lot of wireless routers out there, but D-Links are very reliable and nice. There are a lot of cheap alternatives.
#357
Look in DSL if you're not already on it. It's not "as" fast as broadband, but in some cases it is. There's no installation, and the cost is only a little more than dialup. Plus you can use your phone at the same time! :p

Like Nikolas said, there's a few things you'll need and a few you might want.

You need a modem (what the cable line goes into), which most cable companies will "rent" to you with your monthly fee. These only have one output for one PC, so you'll want a router too.

A router for capable of running to 3 computers run pretty cheap. But unless you want wires running all over the house, you'll want a wireless router and wireless cards. You'll only need two wireless cards, because one PC can be connected directly to the router. They're not cheap, but they're nice to have. A wireless card comes in real handy if you take your computer to LAN parties or other stuff like that (AKA stealing neighbors' internet). Cost depends on features, but it'll be atleast $200 for a wireless router and some cards, if not way more than that.

You're brother's computer shouldn't have a problem with a wireless card if he's got Windows 98. Most cards have drivers for older PCs, and if it doesn't work out, plug him in directly to the router.

The biggest thing you'll want to look into is who offers broadband in your area. There's only one company (more like a monopoly) around here, and the cost is high, the speed is slow because everyone runs it, and they have terrible service. DSL is faster then Broadband in my city, but they don't offer it in my neighborhood. Ask your neighbors and find out what they think.

I'm a sucker for zombies. I really like the first two, the last is alright. It's not bad, it's definatly capable of being awesome.

Preportions aren't perfect. First is GREAT, second has a lot more going on, but the proportions of the left figure are a little off.

Very stylized and interesting. I'd like to see more it you make with PAINT. ;)

I had problems a few weeks back, and now they've snuck back. Just long page loads and can't find servers, things of that manner.
