I'd love to go to Mittens one day, and I think Miami 2009 is a great idea. I know LGM would go, and we could probably dig Phil Reed out of his hole along the way.

What's the age limit? I'll be twenty by 2009. :/

Actually Andail, most left handed players I know (and I know quite a few) play mainly left handed, but can play just as well right. It's weird. They aren't thrown by the flipped strings by playing a right handed guitar left handed.

Kinoko, a floating bridge is pretty common, and like Inkoddi said, placement is key. Easiest way to start (if you have no idea) is to get a ruler. Measure from the nut to the 12th fret, but not the first fret bar, the second, between your finger and your bridge when playing 12th. Then, from that fret, measure the same distance back, and that's about where the bridge should go. After stringing it all up, pluck a string, then tune it to the perfect tone, then play the 12th fret, and pluck it again. The note should be dead cent on, but an octave higher, of course.

Flipping the bridge will work fine, but the nut will still have to be flipped, I believe. Mind posting pictures of this cool little instrument?

When flipping any instrument, it's best to flip the nut and bridge too. Flipping a bridge might be hard depending on the style, but you can have a new nut put on and set for like $30. It'll make the strings fit better, and sound better too.

I thought the guy that does that acoustic cover of Hey Ya looked like Boyd.

I have to admit, when it started playing I thought "Ugh, this is terrible." Then once it got going, I was beatboxing drums and bass lines. It really grew on me.

The guitar line is got some cool tone. The progression is very RadioHead-esque. Haunting, almost. I can't tell for sure, but I think that the main part is one guitar, or possibly two guitars, one playing the lower strings, one playing the open chords.

It really should be a bass playing the progressional melody, and a guitar playing the chords, but not open. The first two chords sound alright, but when they start playing those "deeper" chords to make the melody more dark they get too detailed. I think if you don't play the open notes, it'll sound better.

Vocally, its not that interesting. Could be a little louder so we can hear the lyrics better. Can't really critic them because they're sort of hidden.

Yeah, that flame is sweet. But for an animation that will repeat that frequently, I would suggest making the "fireball" that rises to the top a bit smaller. I have no doubt that a flame would do that, even more so if it was like an explosion or something, but that big ball goes up and then it just stops. Very cool looking though. I'd love to see you try, like, a river of fire, or something. Lava flows with flames popping up randomly.

Progz' river looks good, a little too fast flowing. The lighting looks good too it just moves too far. Looks more like a swaying lantern than a torch. Your version isn't awful, just needs a little more.

As for your background, it looks great. So does the character. Swaying branches would be nice, but I really get a feel for this background. I can almost hear the character walking on the path.

My girlfriend's father and brother are really good at Hold'em, so I signed up for PokerStars to get practice. I play occasionally. My user is 'hday' if anyone's online and wants to play with my terrible self.

New laptop is on it's way. Keeping my old computer too. But now, I'm in sort of a-...I dunno. Confused state.

I bought an M-Audio Axiom 25 this afternoon, and after fucking about with the thing, I still cant get it to work.

It came with no manual, only drivers and some dumpy program, and as far as the Quick Start manual goes, it basically tells me to put the CD in the drive, and install the drivers.

I've downloaded the PDF from their website, but it's for a different model, much different than mine.

Then, I downloaded several sampling programs, along with samples, and went through the help files. No where does it tell me how to set this thing up to work.

I've been mucking with this thing for 6 hours and haven't heard a peep from my speakers, other than the dozens of dings from all of the crap I've downloaded. Gigastudio, Live, Cubase. I have no idea what I'm doing. I know "WHAT" should be happening, but I can't get it to do anything. On one program, I've gotten volume signals from the device, but nothing other than that. So it's not drivers or a broken device.

Eek. Help me please. I have no idea what I'm doing.

They've done releases similar to this before. I think it was AGS, a bunch of plug-ins, Mittens photos, and some of the AGS award winners. People have sold just their games before, not really for much profit. I don't know how well a massive release of games would go over. People would have to approve or send in files. Maybe we should take a poll of how many would want one.

If this works, I'm totally knocking my girlfriend up, and asking for $100,000.

Not going to attack music as art, but the real reason I want to get into sampling, is mainly for drums and percussion.

I can play and record all of the other parts of my music, but drums and piano (even vocals) aren't really my thing, so sampling is a better option, so I can take my time.

Though, I do agree that whatever laptop I get, I will make suit my needs.

I'm trying to get ahold of another PC to use for storage. I've got 200 gigs worth of hard drive space on my desktop that I'll get to keep and enough resources that all I'll need is a new motherboard to put a simple desktop together. It'll hold all of my music and crap, and I'll probably by an external drive for my laptop anyway, so disk space isn't a big deal.

I've got a Tascam USB device that I use. Two XLRs, two 1/4s, midi ins and outs. I bought it off someone for cheap.

I've only worked with samples a few times, so I don't know a lot. I'm not going to use Vista, even if it comes with it. I'll load XP no matter what. A GeForce card and 2 gig of ram are on my list, and I'd really like a built in keypad too.  Not sure about processor speed. How important would it be?

Although the M-Audio is nice, I've already got all of the other stuff. All I really need is the keyboard. Any suggestions on those? Good programs for using samples?
