General Discussion / Re: Stop the RIAA

Most CD's now are from, $17.99 to $19.99, which I agree with Darth, is crazy. I think $12 is a reasonable MAXIMUM for a CD. I haven't bought many CD's lately, because they are all so expensive. I understand that there are a lot of costs involved in making CDs, but if you sell 1 million copies at $20, your making less then 3 million at $10. But two CDs for $40 is terrible. I wouldn't even think about that. Three for $30 isn't bad.

Also, band's need to be more creative with their CDs. They're not just selling music, they're selling art and information. Beck's most recent album had a great idea, to make your own cover with stickers. You can't download that. You can't download album art (usually).

Another random addition to legal music rights, a parent group at our school pushed to eliminate radios being played in the classrooms. Not because it was distracting or because it was violent and sexual, but because they don't have a "broadcasting licence". Because the school didn't have the rights to play music. Yet they also pushed to get them to play ACDC's Back in Black at the football games. Thirty students in a class room or close to a thousand people at a football game?

I'm sorry but I have no idea what the hell you're saying with this statement.

Something you plug into your mp3 device so you can listen through your stereo's radio, like in your car. Guess I wasn't so clear.

I'm in the same delima. Zune has a radio tuner and fileshareing with not only a PC (any filetype can be saved, like a big usb drive) but also with other Zunes. But, in comparison to the iPod, the Zune's extensions/additions are a TON more. Like a radio tuner is twice as much as an iPods.

Well, I wrote the whole thing, but never finished recording it. It turned into a super fast paced spaghetti/rockabilly tune. This was what I did of the intro. After this it went into the fast part. Figured I'd share anyway.

Western Song Intro!

Shit. Yes.

The whole thing had a strange 3D render feel too it. Sweet lighting and color. Definitely a release day see.

Look at some of the most famous portraits of the world. Mona Lisa is the most boring pose I've ever seen, but it's still a fabulous, mind blowing piece. Even portraits of the royal family, or similar renaissance style paintings all have a gloomy quality to them. Sure it could use something a little more, but I think the focus is realism before composition and posing.

Hm...Evil...is it a teenage boy's back we're looking at? That's the most shapeless women I've seen

Well, with no reference photo, and a bad pose to begin with, I don't think I did that bad. Mainly, it was for proportion and angles of everything.

And I like my women with manly backs.

It really depends on the situation. Can we get an image? Usually, if I'm thinking about what you're talking about, you can just adjust the levels and drag the lights tward the darks.

General Discussion / Re: The Afterlife...

All I know, is that I'm donating my body to science.

Sure you can donate your organs, but I've read somewhere that medical hospitals can keep a body for 10 or so years to teach medicine to graduate students. Save maybe a few lives with an organ or two, but you can save thousands by donating your body.

And if I've already sold my soul to the Devil, do I still get an afterlife?

I've looked at many, many photos of Suicide Girls...

For reference, of course.

The render looks good as does the animation. Blinking would help a great deal, but other things will help it look smoother. Antenna bobbing, mustache curls moving when the mouth moves, things like that. How long did this take you?

Not very realistic, but a fantastic portrait

Raised and made the eyes smaller, as well as adjusted the angle. Added some darks to the hair and face, a few around the scarf and jacket for depth. Added some hair on the left side of the face, the hair was too far left. Made the cheek a bit smaller on the right side. And lastly, a crop with a vignette.

The chin ended up a little long and the face lost some roundness from the dark shadows. But maybe it'll just give you some ideas. Other then a few darks in the hair, I think yours is great.

Her stomach was wide and her cheeks were uneven, though mine aren't so great either.Ã,  The head was very strangely angled. Too far left and flat. Without a reference it's hard to redraw it. The arms and shoulders are technically correct though oddly angled. No hands doesn't help either. :)

Was this a Suicide Girls photo?

Really, any detail that will get jumbled up in the shrink, should just be added after the scan. You could always scan and color it big, then re-size after you're done. Lose a little quality, but at least it's there in the right spot.

I've met people from DeVry. Some of the students are very good at what they do, and will have no problem getting a job. But some of the teachers aren't very skilled. You'd be better off at a local community college.

As for the phone call, a lot of public schools work through DeVry with scholarships. DeVry does do a good job with people talking about scholarships and other opportunities. If anything talk with them about getting scholarships.

i've actually found that i have a much harder time photographing flesh, it either turns out too shiny, too dark, too bright or very dull, never natural looking. or people just tend to end up looking very sweaty/greasy.

Every photo ever put into a magazine, the subject has makeup on, and/or the skin is smoothed out in post.

And over all, I'm not saying they're bad, but they just need help. I'd argue the composition issue, but I can agree with the colors. They do look fake-ish, but in adjusting the values, the color hues get distorted. Most of the time you want your photos to stand out more then everyone elses. For something with bad values and composition, vivid colors make it stand out more.

None of them really have an appealing composition. There's nothing that makes me go wow. It's all very ameteurish. The first one is the best of all of them, but there's still a lot wrong with it. Lens flare, bad value range, several focal points, bad cropping, dull colors.

I played around with it, but it's still not a whole lot better. Sunsets are something that can be very hard for beginners.

Keep in mind, though, a better camera makes a lot of these things easier. Sadly, a good camera can improve your skills if you know how to use them.Ã,  F-Stops, shutter speeds, flash times, etc.

Drop LGM a line. He could definitely give you some tips. He started with some awful stuff, and now he's doing professional stuff.

Oh, hell yeah! :D I really hope I have time.

Waits is okay, but Jockey Full of Bourbon is his best song lyricly IMO. Very personal, but it still tells a good story.
