While the update is taking a liiiiiiittle longer than expected, it's because I've decided to add some content. More extra cutscenes -- in extra locations!

Such as this one:

Or this 16 color rendition of a classic stage:

Can you guess what games these are borrowed from?

Stay tooned!

This is fun! I'm not much of a sleuth, but I seem to be progressing rather smoothly :-D I don't know much of the Ripper lore, so I might be missing subtle touches, but the story so far is gripping, with enjoyable twists and turns. And hearing myself as one of the characters was an added bonus.

A cake? Bah! I'm actually getting a live-size animatronic Magenta ;)

That mini-game looks awesome! I can only imagine how terrible I'll be at it (laugh)

Sorry I wasn't there, looked like tons of fun! Congrats to all the winners!

But vengence victory shall be mine ours! Next year In some indefinite future!!! (laugh)

I had a lot of fun with the palette in Magenta, as ugly as it is :) It may not be a good choice for a serious game -- but it seems to work with crazy, cartoony superhero comedy:

I have a webcomic in which I use palettes of three or four colors only -- usually highly contrasting ones, like yellow, red and blue -- so having 16 at my disposal is almost too much ;) They're ugly colors, yes, but I see it as a challenge to create something less-than-ugly with them. Not saying I've succeeded -- but after accepting that I have to use yellow for faces I've never really felt limited by the palette. I realize using spray-paint brush in 800x600 really for the backgrounds makes it easier to cheat the eye -- but I never use dithering in the character art.

Can you make that June 16? Would be fun to have my voice acting debut in a game on my birthday! :-D

Danvzare: Nope. It's also not Kickboxer: The Adventures of Tong Po ;)

Atavismus: Correct! Your turn!

Try Pushing Up Roses

She actually did a "first impressions" video already -- and seemed to love it so far :D So indeed, people are still only finding out about the game -- and the viewers seem to love it, too.

Yes! Another ten years, and then another! Just don't go all corporate and sell out to Disney (after ditching the genre that the gamers loved you for in favor of that one obscure IP that suddenly exploded in popularity) ;)

AGS Games in Production / Re: Ghostdream

That trailer was gorgeous! The first thought: a little bit of Beksinski there (whose art I always considered absolutely magnetic, and beautiful in its own dark way).

That's a great point. It's not like the game disappeared from the shelves, it's still there on Steam and GOG, and anything can happen. It may seem like it's been ages -- heck, the game itself felt like quite a journey -- but it's been just over two weeks since the premiere. So maybe people are still just busy playing, writing reviews or recording letsplays.

Awww, that's just so sad :( With Shardlight, Until I Have You and Kathy -- three awesome commercial games -- I thought 2016 would be the a breakout year for AGS. Makes me even less confident about making sequels for my little games...
In any case, I'd love to see more of Kathy someday, in whatever form. A comic? A detective novel, maybe? Or at least her twitter!

How about Truffle Kerfuffle?

Loved it! It was funny, it was clever (the Italian cuisine quiz was my favorite), and if the game doesn't win next years AGS Awards for best graphics & animation, I'm going on a hunger strike. On top of the lo-carb, no-sweets diet that I'm currently tormenting myself with :P So yes, it was extremely fun to at least watch some virtual sweets. I was also in the mood for more saccharine after watching "Wreck-It Ralph" again the other week. It also reminded me a lot of that happy song from way, waaaay back:

Glad to hear everything turned out fine in the end. Keep it up!

Figured as much. So... fingers crossed for that to happen! (nod)

Almost pulled an all-nighter there last night! 8-0 Once I started playing, I couldn't stop & stayed up till past 4 am, went to sleep, woke up 6 hours later and finished it ;-D It was fun and exciting all the way. Obviously, the best thing about the game is Kathy herself, with her big hair, crazy make-up, and snarky humor hiding a deeper, multi-faceted character. Her adventure made me thing of Twin Peaks a lot -- with cryptic messages and guests from a different, ominous realm. I loved that a pinch of Scooby-Doo, too, in the form of the geeky, overzealous sidekick ;) The story also reminded me of "The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair" -- a novel I read a while ago. Quite a few familiar motifs:
Spoiler

1. Death of a girl following her descent into madness.
2. A priest that's not the nice guy everyone believes him to be.
3. An old, rich man with a somewhat suspicious interest in paintings and said girl (that is later proved not to be as sinister in nature as you'd initially suspect).

Overall, a great game that I thoroughly enjoyed: there's suspense, there's drama, a few shockers, too -- and some comic relief every now and then.

Also: what Eileen said at the end... Does thst mean what I think it does?

I've loved the art in this game from the start, but this is just epic! 8-0
