"Shardlight" next Tuesday? Yassss! :cheesy:

And don't worry, Grundy, no hard feelings. So many games, so little time... I've promised myself to play through my AGS backlog after finishing my latest game -- and I ended up either staying away from the puter entirely or playing Hotline Miami 2 till I don't even notice the blood anymore (wrong)

Also, error occurs when you move mouse towards the bottom of the screen:

Happened to me, too, twice. I was able to complete the game with no further errors after I set the game to full-screen.

Anyway, that was indeed a fun little game. Lovely color theme! Definitely brings back the spirit of Christmas. Makes you want to chant: "Silent n'ghft, hooooly n'ghft..." ;)

Nick and Anas should team up someday and make a Tardigrades/Visitor crossover -- OR an entirely new title!

A crowned figure and circuits shaped like deer horns... The King in Yellow?

There's always so much going on in your artworks. To me the character looks like Red Hood in his upper half (the leather jacket and a featureless mask) and Batman in the bottom half (the raincoat even looks a bit like a cape).

Thanks, Anas! :) It's a weird game, even for our little retro point'n'click niche, so I'm happy to see the "click time events" aren't universally resented, as I feared they'd be :P And the music! Yes! So much talent there! Can't thank Problem enough. And the extra songs! I actully made one of my dreams come true in having one of my favorite songs ever in the outro -- and Zuri's intro tune was the inspiration for that sequence. I just listened to it and images started popping up in my head. Without that song there would be no intro!

So yeah, looks like it's time to get back to work -- before all the new ideas sprouting beneath my skull cause it to EXPLODE! ;)

Time travel? Multiple dimensions? YES PLEASE!

The pics looks really nice, too. You could make them larger, because the fine details are lost in such small images -- and that's a fine art style you have there.

This one makes me think of Josh Kirby's Discworld art style -- and the character even kinda looks like an urban fantasy/steampunk wizard.

Hey, I was actually thinking about the game the other day, wondering how it's coming along :) Glad to hear -- and see -- that it's progressing.

Is the Intergalactic Indigestion caused by Intergalactose Intolerance? ;)

Looks great! And the more superhero parody adventure games, the merrier! :D

I love the idea: so simple, it'd seem, but so imaginative and opening so many possibilities and new ways to tell a story. Lovely graphics, too.

Nice!!! (nod) Is the comic going to be in the game or as a pdf available outside the game?
#174
They're just quickloads, using the same code as the checkpoint buttons. So you won't access any scene that you haven't been to previously.

Mandle: Bravo! A process of slow elimination was how this was supposed to be played, ideally - regardless of whether you're a comic nerd (which in this case is a superpower of sorts) or not. It was tough, I'll admit, but not unfeasible -- you just have to be patient and methodial. The sense of accomplishment that comes from getting through a test like that is exactly what I seek in games, myself. And how did you like the final boss battle?
About the menu: yeah, I was thinking of cramming the menu sommewhere in there -- but my main focus was a smooth, cinematic experience for the first-time player. But I'm currently working on a bunch of little tweaks, and I think I'll include this one. Like, if you've already played the game, after the Magenta logo disappears, instead of the intro starting the menu will pop up -- and if you wish to go watch the intro, anyway, you'll have the START button.

SilverSpook: It's a tough game to play from start to finish in one sitting -- but one of my friends did just that, indeed sacrificing some sleep. That's the greatest compliment for a game dev. Though reports of rage quits tickle the ego on some level, too ;) But only if the player decides to get back to the game later.

Ha! I knew right away she's going to be one bad-ass lady!

I love the amount of detail in this pic. The character aside, I love the little jab at Diesel. But the greatest bits are the references to cinematic dystopiac of the 70's and 80's. Soylent's pretty obvious -- but Cherry 2000 is a bit more obscure title that I bumped into just recently. And I can't make out what's in the other photo.

There was actually a LOT of puzzles that I was really worried people wouldn't figure out -- this being one of them. I wasn't even sure if they'd pick up on the main game mechanic of clicking on a particular spot on the other person's body. Especially if you're a developer, you'd think a character is a single sprite.

Oh well, I'm an expert in coming up with weird, evil puzzles (laugh)

Speaking of which, if anyone's having a hard time with the quiz, here you have a cheat sheet.

Oh, mashing your keyboard won't help there. In fact, it's not about keys at all in this scene. You have to...

Spoiler
wait till the cop pauses with the cuffs midway (it's a very clear pause) -- then quickly move your hands apart by moving the mouse to the right, so that they disappear off the screen, and then back left, so that they're on-screen again. You'll see they're flipped and are now OVER the cuffs. It's like playing "red hand". That's when you need to use your superpower. Click!

It's now "game of the week/weekend/three days/till-CROS-finds-something-else" on GameJolt. And I tend to talk a lot, so that post is actually pretty tame length-wise :)

Oh, and just to clarify, Phil Fish wasn't the troll I talked about. He's weird, but talented, I actually liked Fez -- a bit flawed, but a beautiful thing, nonetheless. That dude today was just some random guy.

As with all creative people, you never know what a person's like. And, whether in real life or online, you can never tell if what you see in public is the real thing or just a persona. Phil Fish comes to mind. And just today I bumped into a bona fide psycho. So my newest game got featured the other day, which is a mixed blessing -- lots of love, but then lots of people who I'm just not on the same page with. But this guy... Comes in, all up in arms... Prefaces his speech with the equivalent of "Prepare to be crushed, unworthy!" -- and proceeds to bash my game from top to bottom, all while portraying himself as a hard-working, introspective, ever self-improving arteest and the voice of the unfairly shunned. "It's ppl like you but not limited to you who steal the limelight from the rest of us", he goes on. I was actually going to pity the guy, it sucks when you're thirteen and you make your first game and nobody notices. But a quick look at his portfolio revealed that he: 1. is probably in his twenties or older (that, or it's his dad doing the voice-overs); 2. cranks out flash games one after another, 27 and counting, in a matter of weeks, and 3. his last one got featured not five weeks ago AND let's-played by PewDiePie. How much MORE limelight can one actually physically take? (laugh)
I'd be inclined to think it's just a clever strategy to get noticed. His newest game premiered just around the time mine was featured -- so what better way to draw attention to yourself than make a scene in the comment section of the hottest game of the day? ;) But then he goes: "The tutorial should be idiot proof. I got stuck on it." Funniest example of unintened self-deprecation since that chick at a grocery store I heard yell at her kid "Shut up, you little SON OF A BITCH!!!"
Oh, and then there was this one guy who first encouraged the listeners of his show to not be shy and send in their little games -- and then, a couple weeks later, went on a twenty-minute long tirade about how he just doesn't feel like playinh AGS games (laugh) And that other one, who's been planning to, for three years (roll) Fortunately, both seem more self-aware than the other guy :)
