I've only just started playing this evening -- but I'm loving it so far! It had me in stitches right from the start. The voice acting's really fun, too. Must've been a ton of work, considering each action having its own unique response (I did the same with Gray and I'd have to run a Kickstarter campain for cough pills if I wanted to do a talkie version). Cool character design, too.

One thing you might want to correct: make the Interact icon default in the title page/office. Maybe it's just that it's late and I'm tired, but it took me a minute to figure out I need to switch mouse mode from Walk to Use to start a new game.

Other than that, it's a great game. I have no idea how I missed it when it came out, I was waiting for Limbo to come out. It's probably becauese I wasn't online much after my surgery. Oh well, I'm here now -- and I'll post a more in-depth review once I finish.

Good one! I'd actually like to try it myself. Watched that intro a LOT of times as I stuck with the series to the bitter end ;)

If you get a chance, make Part Two - a lumberjack sim ;)

Oh yeah, that one looks great. I actually knew what game you were talking about, saw some gameplay footage and the imagery and the style was very memorable -- but if you'd randomly mention the title without further detail, I wouldn't have a clue. At best, I'd confuse it with Tir Na Nog or some other exotic/weird sounding title.

It should be called "Doug of the Tennapel" and should be made using claymation. Seriously! The squeeky clean 3D look just doesn't do anything for me. And just upping the resolution on the cartoony animation might not be the answer, either. There was some weird magic to these huge pixels, some rawness that's hard to replicate. And I want my DOTT sequel to be raw and crazy and twisted.

Nice! I loved the old title, but the new one does sound intriguing!

Congrats, man! I'm willing to forgive (in the name of our country) the kidnapping of that fine young lady -- as the current Most Bautiful Woman in Poland is sleeping in my living room right now ;)

I'm in love with the pixely art and those muted colors :D

Also: rodacy, przejmujemy to forum! ;)

Love the rain effects, looks awesome -- but my favorite is Jan's sweatshirt. And her hair. And... well, everything. Is that the 80's or is it just her?

Nice! I will agree with Cap, though: the lighthouse scenery is the weakest among the otherwise quite impressive make-overs. The sky could use a more uniform, darker tone, to match the lighthouse, and the grass could benefit from deeper shading -- and maybe a different hue, this emerald green just doesn't do it for me. Conversely, you might want to flatten the shading on the mountains in the mine's background -- so as to indicate it's far off, not right behind the hills. See how nicely you depicted depth in the woods by tinting the foliage in the background more blue. I'd also make the distant tree trunks greenish or bluish instead of pure black. Artsy tricks aside, air isn't 100% transparent and various impurities, even if it's just vapor, on the clearest of days, will make objects appear bleaker and/or discolored -- the more the father they are from you.

Still -- GREAT job! The color choices, the composition, the style itself all show great progress. I'd definitely like to see more of these.

Here's a new one for you, Fitz!

Episode 65

:D

I'm yet to listen to the new one, as it's my first time online since Thursday -- but you guys really helped me through the hell of the first night after the surgery. I could barely sleep from the pain, nausea and cold shivers -- so I had a LOT of time :) I think I zoned out a few times, too.

BTW, another topic suggestion: games and girlfriends! There's a thread about it in the forums already about being a husband/father and making/playing games between changing diapers or in those latenight hours when everyone's gone to bed -- but that hardly exhaust the topic. My girlfriend does frown upon my time-absorbing hobbies sometimes, but she's really supportive of my creative side. She even made me a little figurine of Gray. Plus, she IS my official Muse, the inspiration for Magenta. She truly lived up to the superhero status, by the way: it was her that nursed me back to semi-health over the past weekend.
It'd also be a great opportunity to talk about your favorite gamedev couple -- the Williamses! (laugh)

Anas, it's all about what you'll allow yourself to do in a given story :) Sometimes it's fun to just let it go and draw whatever the heck you want -- something I often forget. I tend to stick to a formula -- and soon enough I find myself stuck in a rut. I dug up some of my teenage doodles the other day and it struck me what crazy stuff I drew. Drawing this new version of the turtles -- and other childhood's favorite superheroes -- was so refreshing in so many ways. I can break away from my usual set of themes AND try my own twisted take on the classics, with no shame or prejudice :D

Speaking of which -- here's the new version of Donnie:

With that cutscene pretty much done, I can now enjoy my well-deserved vacation/sick leave :) The game goes on hold for a few weeks -- but my brain will be hard at work :)

I'm re-listening one of the old ones every week when you guys take a break from recording, and right now I'm at episode 16, I think. I just hope that one and those up to ep 20 aren't particularly funny. Because laughing will be kinda hard -- if not life-threatening -- with my abs stitched ;)

You guys brought up the topic of the pot in the podcast yourselves -- and it wasn't the weed, it was the OTHER pot ;) Then again, Francisco's constant giggling is suspiciously similar to symptoms of cannabis use. The only thing missing is paranoia -- along the lines of "David Cage is sabotaging the action adventure genre!", etc.

Oh wait...!

And yeah, Calypso, don't listen to him. He'll tell you all the things he likes in games, you'll do a game with all of that in it -- along with everything he and Grundislav agree is bad game design -- and he'll never play that game ;)

Might do a little BCT marathon, myself, when I get out of surgery and have to lie there for a couple of hours before I go home.

Geexactly! I think the turtleneck gave it away ;) He's even nerdier in his new version.

Thanks :) Yeah, it is kinda short. The whole thing was prepared for MAGS, so it was my intention to keep it short and sweet. When I dropped out of the contest, I decided to give it some more polish, but it didn't change all that much gameplay-wise. Plus, I had to make the first one relatively easy not to discourage the players, hopefully the later levels will take you some more time -- and that you'll get to see the incredibly funnoying cutscenes :D

Speaking of which, I scraped the character animations for one of them, feeling it was not on par with the Batman sequence and some others. It looked too static, empty and was, admittedly, poorly drawn. I re-drew the scene from scratch -- and it looks much more dynamic and fun. I won't show it to you just yet -- but here's one of the dropouts:

Any guesses who this is?

A very interesting episode of our favorite podcast (or should I say potcast, Ben?). Damn progress! Case in point: I've grown to really hate the first background for Magenta -- which I was PROUD OF when I first made it. But I've experienced the opposite, too -- thinking I wouldn't be able to top some old artwork. This one I still, seven years later, I consider my best. But I do see flaws in it and room for progress. I've actually looked through some old doodles of mine -- as a part of this thing on fb where you post your old drawing for five consecutive days -- and it was inspiring how much I got right as a kid, despite some obvious flaws, and how much I've developed since.

Yeah, the new one seems way more balanced. I liked the mountains in the old one, but the landscape itself felt weird with the uneven distribution of rocks: too cluttered in the background and very empty in the foreground. And then there's the base. The new one's all kinds of awesome -- it's massive, with nice little details and good lighting choices (I like the red-blue-yellow triad). And I love the water f/x!

Wow, this game's going to look awesome. Watching the timelapse was both educational, inspiring AND humbling.

Yeah, you do that - especially since I'm expecting to win the 2015 award for Sexiest Female Lead ;)
