Looks fantastic, indeed. I like the premise, too. The idea of consciousness capable of travelling back and forth across the fourth dimension is one of my favorite concepts in sci-fi (I remember it used in a very intriguing way in The Longest Journey).

Oh and just a minor error:

How about some super happy a capella medley to cheer everyone up -- and maybe inspire in some way or other? Specially dedicated to Ponch -- whose avatar is perfectly synced with the music. I've had this one on loop for extended periods of time over the past weekend and it kept my spirits up pretty darn well. Same with Capital Cities.

In other news, I got a completely new idea for a story, should be fun :)

Happiness? Awww darn! (roll) My head is filled with stories of darkness, misery and post-apo new-weirdness!

I might have an idea, though, which should marry both attitudes quite nicely. Does it have to be happy-happy -- or just subjectively happy? Because I'm thinking of something uplifting in a very trippy, surreal way.

Thanks, everyone :) I hope to make another little game with Monty sometime next year -- with more yummy/disgusting backgrounds, an even greater variety of grunts and more family woes and hijinks! Right now I'm still busy finishing my book, which might take me a few months -- but I'll get there :D

They sort of did. There mentioned a handful of things you should consider when designing a game -- including alternative mechanics for obtaining information, other than talking to everyone. You also shouldn't start a game with the word "physicist" ;)

It's also not very far-fetched to assume alcohol is a vital part of the creative process.

Got all the story DLC's for Sleeping Dogs -- the kung fu tournament, the ghost invasion and the crazy cultist bombers -- and finished them all already. Quite fun, actually. Then I got Bioshock 3, which haven't played yet. Considering getting Dishonored, too, but I might wait till xmas with that one.

It's astounding that you've managed to basically record the show -- AND actually remained coherent throughout. One of my favorite episodes, for sure, very interesting.

Congrats, guys! Really happy to see both games -- and finished right on time, too :)

Emont: Welcome, dear newcomer! Indeed, MAGS is a GREAT way to get motivated (tried it myself, loved it!). So... GET CRACKIN'!!! ;)

CaptainD, Selmiak: Lookin' good, gentlemen! Keep it up! :)

So we've reached the 2/3 mark today! How's everyone doing? :)

Does it run on iPad? If so, I'll be sure to pass it on to my buddy, whom I introduced to adventure games with my little creation (see link below) -- and he did ask me about a possible port to iPad. Nifty little devices they are!

Loved it! The dragon's my absolute favorite, he just cracked me up. And was the professor's... you know... friend Saruman? Kinda looked like him -- but maybe it's just me being tired. Anyway, a short but thoroughly enjoyable experience. Strangely enough, it's the second game featuring a female practicioner of magic that I played today -- the other being "A Boney Night" -- and both were so playfully inventive in their approach to the fantasy genre. I'm having a hard time trying to refrain from borrowing some of the ideas for a fantasy story of my own :-D

Played it just now -- and really enjoyed it. Short, but SO cute -- reminiscent of some of Ben's games: funny and sweet, with a hint of melancholy. Love the humor (the brain connoisseurs are my favorite) and the graphics (Gobliiiins come to mind!). I also found it quite ingenious to use mushrooms as an information network (toying with similar twisted ideas for a story I'm planning to write) and green tea as the beverage of choice for orcs (laugh).

One minute technical crit: you could make text skippable (with left-click, preferably, since that the default dialogue skip in AGS).

We definitely need more games from you, sir! :)

Ascovel, if you really need to show off using Early Modern English, I beseech thee (not "thou"), do it properly ;)

Yeah, that little Preschool Wolf definitely needs your attention :) Don't worry about other stuff, inspiration and motivation are things that come and go -- and come back again when they feel like it (not always when YOU feel like it, hehehe). Happens to me all the time! Haven't started anything new since Monty, and I have a ton of things I put away for later. But I'll get to it -- and so will you :)

Oh yes, I attest to that, Captain: it is insanity, indeed. Mad in every way. But you need something like it once in a while, something to raise your pulse and get you out of the stupor of everyday :) Some get that from mountain climbing or cart racing (my dad!). Me, I love doing creative stuff. And baking buckwheat bread (I swear, bread making is like taking care of a baby!)

Ghost: Glad to see you here, you seem to have a lot of experience in making night-themed games!

Lewis: Very happy to see you not committing, as well ;)

For a game as high-res as you want to go, people might not be as forgiving.

Yeah, people get MAD when things don't work right. I remember Bulletstorm getting a whole load of 1's on Amazon for using the wretched GFWL -- which admittedly sucks, and I myself almost gave up on the game trying to get GFWL to basically work, but the game itself was a blast, actually. Same thing happens on GameJolt -- where games are free, so there's no reason to get this mad. The problem is you can't expect all people to tinker with some settings in some file in some folder somewhere like back in the days when you had to set up your sound card in every game, know your IRQ, DMA and whatnot, and know your way around autoexec and config.sys. Hell, I wouldn't count on everyone to notice the suggestion to play the demo first -- because there have been times when I myself have clicked my way blindly through some forms, only to notice I bought the wrong thing and it said it right there on top, in caps.

So yeah, best to make the experience as smooth as possible for the user. I'll try the link that Snarky posted, see how that works :) Thanks!

Woohoo! Glad to see more folks warming up to this month's contest :) Good luck, everyone! If you have any questions or if you need suggestions/inspiration, let me know.

I'm not sure yet if I can make it, due to other commitments (a big translation job that I'm expecting, might be next week, might be next month, though), plus my girlfriend will not be very happy to see me in my turbo mode (sitting at the puter late into the night, completely in the zone) :P AND I'm still regaining full vision after making Monty. But I'm thinking about it!

Just downloaded and tested the 3.3.0 beta (that's the one you're talking about, right?) and the only new available resolution is the 1024 x 768 you mentioned -- which is still 4:3, not widescreen.

Dave, was there a particular brand/model of laptops that had this issue, or was it the graphic card (hi-end vs. integrated)OR system issue (Vista vs. Win 7)? I think I could try asking people (here or GameJolt), whether anyone had these issues with Monty. Also, in case I ever go commercial, the most fair thing to do, I think, would be to release a demo of the game -- which would allow the potential player/buyer to test whether it works on their system, OR whether they can handle the weird display.
